I was debating between the gel and the jelly, but thanks to your review I decided to go with the jelly for my oily yet dehydrated sensitive acne prone skin! It’s so hard to find things that work for my skin it’s so complicated 😖😖
I’ve been using the jelly for a couple days and I noticed a huge difference in the oil control. Usually, no matter what I use with or without makeup, my skin would be very oily after an hour. With the jelly feels soft and conditioned, for hours without getting so oily. If im forced to go somewhere without foundation or powder my skin actually looks normal. I’ll see if it still works good after a couple weeks.
I’ve had acne prone skin and I use the one in the middle for months and I love it. I barely break out. I’ve also been using toner so maybe that’s also helping. But ugh I love the yellow moisturizer!!
Very happy to hear, there's a reason this moisturizer has been around for a long time! Adding a toner can always help as well, I always recommend adding one in to help prevent breakouts since it helps remove pore clogging residue and traces of makeup.
No BS Beauty I honestly wish I used toner sooner in my skin care routine. I tell everybody I know now to use it bc I see a huge difference. Even if I do breakout it’s usually just one spot. Where I use to have a lot of breakouts.
I’m really happy that you compared these. My mom’s been using the original for many, many years now and this may help convince her to switch. Thanks, love🍃🌸.
Thank you so much. I have oily acne prone skin and I bought the jelly and it seems to work well. The marketing of the gel leads me to believe to try it but I had a bad feeling. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. I'll sick with the jelly.
I have the lotion and the jelly. I have a combination skin (dry after wash, but little oily after). I feel the jelly is more watery and won't work well as a moisture. but it might good for oily skin, cause it is very light!!
Hey thanks for reply 🙏 I am from Canada not able to taking proper care in this winter. I also have pimple problem hope this moisturizer will suit on my combination pimple skin🙂
This is what is in DDMG (and DDMG-ID). "Saccharomyces lysate is a probiotic yeast obtained by fermentation. Its by-products, known as postbiotics, can help normalize skin's microbiome by curbing the proliferation of microorganisms that can trigger signs of impaired skin." "The antioxidants in laminaria saccharina soothe congested skin by maintaining healthy levels of collagen, fighting against free radicals, and combating the effects of dirty, polluted air found in the cities." "Polygonum cuspidatum root extract is a plant whose root is a good source of the potent polyphenolic antioxidant trans-resveratrol, which is considered the most bioavailable form of resveratrol." "What does Lactobacillus ferment do for skin? "In skin care, lactobacillus helps calm and comfort skin to instantly relieve the dry, tight, bothered sensations that come with irritation. Yes, lactobacillus soothes and balances your skin just like probiotics can do for your stomach. When it comes to upset skin, it's pretty much a lifesaver." and then they used this complex to comfort the skin, soothe it and balance its' hydration levels. * Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract , Hordeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract\Extrait D'Orge , Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seedcake , Caffeine , Trehalose , Sodium Hyaluronate , Tocopheryl Acetate* this is why this stinkin ddmg always worked for me cos clinique uses ADVANCED ingredients. let alone, their other more high performance moisturisers (which are even more costly) but quality.
Thank you for the review I want a hydrating serum and I'm currently using the first aid beauty and I'm loving it. But I don't have a sephora near me And I was thinking to purchase the clinique jelly.
what u said about the gel is so true ! I have acne prone skin and it gave me white heads ! I am afraid to use any other clinique moisturizer because of that !
I’ve used the lotion and i like it except that it’s a tad greasy for my skin(combination dry with a slightly oily t-zone, I know it’s complicated) and like you said it doesn’t absorb quickly so I just ordered the middle one (gel) but I’ve been wondering if it would be moisturizing enough. I’m relieved after watching your review and waiting for it to arrive :)
If you have sensitive skin I would go with the clear Hydrating jelly, it's got the least amount of ingredients that have the potential to cause irritation.
Amazing review! So detailed ! I love it ! I wish I saw your video before hand ... I literally just purchased the jelly. I wanted something not harsh ... I’ve been using the Mario Badescu and I have wanted to switch it up...
This really helped me I was recommended you by my friend and they said that your reviews were really good and could be trusted and I love how you knew what you were talking about. ❤️❤️🥰
I so much miss the wonderful, original products. With zero hyeralonic acid. Zero sun flower oil and sesame seed oil. Just old fashioned moisterising ingredients. Clinique had this light weight yet deeply emollient DDML lotion for dry, normal to combination skin and "Facial Lotion" for oily /combination skin. Clinique also had perfect light weight sun products which couldn't even be felt on the skin. Absolutely marvelous. The present formulas and product line is ruined.
I would recommend using the jelly in the clear bottle, it has a quick absorbing texture. The two yellow moisturizers have more acnegenic ingredients and a more oily texture that takes a while to absorb.
I have sensitive skin and I use the gel and I don’t get no acne from it, but yall need to keep in mind. What works for her might not work for u. So don’t buy something just cos u watched a review on it and it says it’s good, yeah it helps BUT don’t get your hopes up! Xx
Absolutely agree with your comment. Everyone should make an educated decision on what they use in their skincare routine. This is why I tend to focus mostly on ingredients and not so much what my personal liking is.
No, I think it's a 30ML tube. It's nice that Clinique sells these in many different sizes in case you wanted to try it before purchasing the full size.
Unfortunately the jelly broke me out. It's a shame cos it's so aesthetically pleasing. I know it was due to the algae ingredients in it. So now I'm back to my trusted gel which is a surprise cos that too has one algae in it (laminaria) but the gel seems to clear me out. Also, the anti pollution claim of the jelly is due to the algae ingredients, do your research. And in general, skin that has an intact moisture barrier is more resistant to pollution. Any quality product will provide that. I also found due to my use of prescription retinoid, the jelly didn't hold up to the 24 hour claim.
the gel isn't effective, it has silica in it which absorbs excess moisture, however it is good for people that have rosacea, dermatitis, etc. These people have a yeast build up, and need to keep their oil count down. yeast feeds on fatty acids/oils. In addition, the lotion is a lot more effective, although it contains a slight barrier, not as rich for dry skin. What you do is apply this as a first-step serum (contains oils, hy.acid. etc to lock in hydration). It contains oils to lock in some water. Next, apply a rich cream like Clinique moisturizing cream in a jar/it's yellow. If you want a dupe, just get cetaphil lotion, does the same thing as the Clinique lotion, has more product, and it's more moisturizing. But let's face it, Clinique lotion is awesome as a primer and just light-weight for those that don't want to weigh down their face (like me!). Clinique is also smart when it comes to ph formulas. They just need to remove that God-awful witch hazel. in their toner. They messed it up.Dries the hell out of the skin barrier. No time for that.
Thank you for all the tips! Clinique is one of the most reliable brands out there, and their moisturizers are products I always come back to when my skin is feeling overly dry or if it has been irritated by something else I've used. Still love the Moisture Surge as well, it;s been around for a while, but no other company has been able to make a true dupe for it yet.
I have malassezia folliculitis that is fungal acne and my skin type is dry tending to be combination , I decided to get the Clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel , is that a good decision , or should I get the Clinique 72 hr repleneshing moisturizer ? I am confused !
I think I would either recommend the Jelly (the clear one) or the Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate. The Moisture Surge Concentrate is great for sensitive skin and gives skin some nice hydration without leaving it feeling oily. I lean toward recommending the Concentrate- it is here on Clinique's website www.clinique.com/product/1687/45043/skin-care/moisturizers/moisture-surgetm-hydrating-supercharged-concentrate
you're wrong Lady !! do your research the Jelly is for hydrating and for oily skin !! Anti pollution means no chemicals added and pollution in the air won't affect your skin.the Gel is for acne and oil control. and the Lotion is for dry skin, if you have acne don't use the lotion if you have dry skin don't use the Gel Clinique is targeted skin care for what your skin needs.
I have the moisture surge 72 hr hydrator and a sample of dramatically different moisturizing lotion. Should I be using the lotion first then the hydrator? Or just use one product for hydration? Do you recommend a different brand for sensitive combination skin? Something that can be used during the day/night and prevents dry patches and redness. I do find the hydrator from clinique creates a film of water on my face due to the hyaluronic acid ingredient and its great under my makeup... but I feel like I need more hydration. I also use the origins mega mushroom relief & resilience lotion (toner) and the buffet serum by the ordinary before these steps.
I'm probably over thinking this because I've experimented with too many products 😂...but the point is, I want to improve the quality of ingredients from this current routine without completely breaking the bank, but I'm not sure where to start. Lol

Try the DDM+ in the winter months and the gel during the summer months. I’ve been trying that lately.
how does the jelly compare to the moisture surge if you know

Usually, no matter what I use with or without makeup, my skin would be very oily after an hour. With the jelly feels soft and conditioned, for hours without getting so oily. You will have to keep me posted on your thoughts in a few weeks. It can be do difficult to find something that works well do hopefully this is it!
hey! wanted to ask if your opinion has changed after a few months :)

Which one is the best for Sensitive skin? Thankyou💕
If you have sensitive skin I would go with the clear Hydrating jelly, it's got the least amount of ingredients that have the potential to cause irritation.
ethylhexylglycerin is comedogenic which i found among the ingredients list of hydrating jelly.
I have dry combination skin and love the jelly, I do add a moisturizer on top.
