- This is yet another short film from the Here and Now series I directed in 1988. Nigel Benn was a relatively unknown boxer at the time but looked extremely promising, hence the film. What's arguably quite interesting now, some 27 years later is that his proud claims that he'd be world champion came true, becoming WBO Middleweight Champion in 1990 and WBC Super Middleweight Champion in 1992. He parted company with his trainer Bryan Lynch shortly after this film was made so some of the comments made by both of them are now somewhat ironic.
Enjoy!!!
I met Nigel a couple of years ago at a restaurant here in Sydney, real cool dude, friendly, down to earth and loves giving people time
He's the reason I wanted to join the Royal Marines. He's my favourite British boxer. Awesome!
I miss that era.
I'm a huge fan of Nigel Benn absolutely fearsome and fearless, and strong as an ox.
@Paul Houghton yessir 💯💯💯💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
these boxing trainings were on another level, no fancy equipment
Proper English fighter Benn was. Not the best technique but had the heart of a lion, never gave up and had a chin made of steel, true legend💪🏻
He was damn quick and powerful
Nigel was a real hard man , who loved a scrap
Nigel was like a coiled spring ready to explode his power punches
What a fantastic video. Very well made. Compliments to you! Ive never seen this before. Historic footage when you think about it.
Great vid well made and great inside look (never seen before) of the early Benn. Great fighter great bloke. Mozz
Legend .!
And he’s kept his training regime all these years. Good luck in you come back at 55!!!!
A fight a month! Some of today's top fighters fight once a year 😂
It certainly helps when you're destroying people in 1 round or 2 rounds consistently 😂😂

Make my money and secure my life. How poised and determined was Nigel Benn at a young age? He was a British fighting phenomenon about this time, whom actually captured the boxing fraternity's imagination, more so than Chris Eubank ever did and I'm not retracting anything from Chris Eubank. Regardless of whether he best Benn first time round.
Nigel benn and chris eubank absolute real deal came through the hard way, paid the dues and earned it.. spare me the son gifted a place on a ppv card because my dad's a famous boxer bs.. playing at it and will get found out against anyone who is serious.. facts..

one year after this footage, Nigel Benn suffered his first loss to Michael Watson, who later received a disability in a fight with Chris Eubank.
anyone know on what show/channel this was originally broadcast?
Met him on a night out up west one night, he was giving it the big un so i had to level him out with a few swift back handers, that's how he lost that tooth.
Cool Story Bruv
