The one thing thats terrible is the gun functionality and enemy AI. But only reason to play this game is the animal predator mode. That one is super fun. And one reason why i cant stand Far Cry after this because its all about dumbass commentary on social politics. Whats wrong with just running around in the jungle or places as a animal human predator thingy, sneaking or assault mode type of gameplay? Thats what matters to me is the fun gameplay elements, a mix of stealth and action. Thats why i love the first game (But yeah the gun gameplay is very bad). Thats probably why lot of people just turned it off before they got to the fun part!

Far cry Instincts predator had a pretty thriving multiplayer community back in the day with the custom map maker editor. Alot of creative maps, game modes and activities (obstacle course maps were fun!) were created from that tool in game. Holds a special place in my heart.

If I'm being honest, I honestly liked the more serious tone in Farcry Instincts. The voice acting was really good and I enjoyed the dialogue quite a bit. I enjoyed Carvers dispassionate sarcasm and I liked how they portrayed the story in general here better then the original. I also loved how they maintained the 1st person perspective in cutscenes. While the controls could have been a little better, it was always immense fun to run after someone at full super speed sprint while following their scent trail and just absolutely obliterate them with your claws. As well, the stealth wasn't half bad...if not broken sometimes and it at least gave you different options in some sections. The canyon level is a personal favorite of mine.

      @Beregond1861 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yeees! I completely agree 100%. That hand-glider section was so much fun, and the cool radio broadcast about Dinosaurs at the beginning is so cool too. I love the Far Cry games but hadn't played this one until I beat it's campaign the other day for the first time. I genuinely loved the story a lot, and I think Jack's voice actor for Instincts is way better than that Peter guy from Classic. Its cut scenes help keep the F in F.P.S.👌♥️🎮

One critical aspect that was overlooked: "The Most Dangerous Game" influences.
Addtionally the theme of man versus nature and the subtle questioning of what it means to be human (Are we really better than the "brutal" survivalist nature of animals when we ourselves succumb to nonessential desires of wealth, status, and power?) really set the re-envisioned game apart from the original.

Farcry Instincts holds many of my favorite multiplayer memories. I remember having a blast making custom maps that my friends and I would play in my parent's basement, on dad's newly acquired Sony Bravia 1080p 55''.
I would design the maps with my friend's playstyles in mind and make traps for them, like putting a vehicle in a particular spot hoping my speed-loving friend would pick it up and run it off the cliff I conveniently hid nearby.
My best memory is from when we played one of my extremely unbalanced maps. Two of my friends and I decided to cooperate to kill my one friend, who was abusing the imbalance to the fullest by camping in the sniper tower. We ended up climbing the ladder at the same time when my camping friend accidentally fell down, landing on the guy furtherest up the ladder, who then fell down creating a chain reaction resulting in all of us falling down to die. We were so shocked as all of us assumed there wouldn't be any collision. We literally rolled on the floor laughing for at least 10 minutes, and every time we were on the brink of collecting ourselves, my friend with the most contagious laugh would break out in laughter, again and again.
I don't remember exactly but I think the guy in the tower actually won because of that as well, since he got the kills he needed before he hit the ground. Or maybe the time just ran out. I can't remember honestly
    Anyways, awesome times!

I really enjoyed the early Far Cry games. 1 was definitely my favourite of the bunch, but I enjoyed instincts for providing a completely different experience and it looked pretty gorgeous on my xbox 1. (it was easy to be blown away by graphics back then imo :3) My favourite part of instincts was the map editor. I'd spent hours with friends just making levels and then goofing around in them. Whether it was races on hang gliders or jetskis or just hide and seek and where one had the predator serum and the other just had to survive. The ability to make "gorgeous" tropical islands on the xbox was truly fun.

Oh boy Instincts has a special place in my heart. I played the original on PC beforehand and was really looking forward to this console version. Also I really liked how you can build your own map. Constructing levels was way easier and less complicated for me to do it compared to the PC version. I invited my friends over and we would play on each other's custom maps. Hell even my sister was down with it. I just remember one of the map so I made was called Conquistador and it went high in the sky. Never had XBL so I couldn't upload it on there but I was damn proud of that map.
One thing I do remember is the scene where you are injected. You are tied up and it is dark out and you start to hallucinate. I remember talking about this to my teacher Mr. Robertson. I still remember him after all these years. We swapped CDs (he was a hard-rock kinda guy), he played guitar in class, and to appeal to the student majority he played Snoop Dogg. The thing I remember most about him was a joke he told in class. He's a geometry teacher and to get us to understand what a 180 degree angle looks like he told us it is similar to his girlfriend he had in eighth grade. They are both flat. If by some miracle you are reading this Mr. Robertson thank you for high school fun.
Now that the pleasantrys are out of the way, I have to say this game drags on. Your review was very fair. It also took me a damn near 3 hours to complete one level. It was the fuckin Sub-Aquatics level.
One point you forgot to mention is the UNSKIPABLE INTRO GLITCH. Holy fucking hell that was like a 3-minute intro that you could not skip. Add that to the list when you want someone to really hate your game, next to the Kamikaze enemies (**cue Serious Sam**)
Thanks for the video Gman! 👍

I never had any issues with checkpoints and I actually feel like instincts was amazing and a lot of your complaints are why I love it. The immersion and music is great and the levels are great. And the levels do have a lot of variety when you can go different ways, cliffs especially I’m still finding different ways to go to this day. Also Doyle was working for the CIA in instincts

The levels of instincts are all great in my eyes excluding mines where it is average, they all felt unique while evolution had a couple good levels while the rest felt a lot worse with more generic enemies and a worse atmosphere and music. I also don’t see why you want all the powers from the start of the game, the gaining of powers is cool in instincts and I found evolution with all the powers from the start liked a progression through the campaign. In instincts every level you gain something or get something new

Stephen Dorff was also great in Cecil B. Demented, a 2000 dark comedy from John Waters involving "cinema terrorists" who kidnap a Hollywood starlet to create their no-budget guerilla film about a group of cinephiles who go on a crime spree. There's obvious nods to the Patty Hearst case, ironic since Hearst herself in in this (she's been in Waters' films since Serial Mom). The film also includes Alicia Witt (Urban Legends), Jack Noseworthy (Event Horizon) and even Michael Shannonn (The Runaways, Man of Steel).

In 2014 before FC4 came out I wanted to see what the earlier games were like so I played Far Cry 1 then later Instincts, Evolution, and eventually 2. I like them all for different reasons to me FC1 was like a James Bond film (Beautiful woman as your partner, beautiful yet crazy setting, over the top bad guys, action movie story) except Jack Carver is about the furthest thing from James Bond as possible. Instincts took the same set up except changed things because the Xbox back then absolutely couldn't have run the same engine, changed the story to animal powers instead of mutant army, made everything darker & edgier, changed the weapon roster, and thank god they changed Jack's voice actor because god he was horrible in Far Cry 1. Evolution was little more than DLC but was still a short sweet ride, and 2 man that game is something else.
