Looks like a good system, As for myself I’m so old school the smell of Black walnuts or logwood boiling away is just something I look forward to every season .. Thx for your time Dale …
I'm the same way I do 3 dozen at a time 1½hr simering in black walnuts & logwood. And sitting in the shade drinking a few Yuengling loggers. I hope you had a great summer.👍🏻
I still like to do it the old school way.I just can't fix something that not broke. The last few years I have been painting my dog proof and beaver traps. Thanks for sharing Dale !👍🏻
Great video Dale this helps me out a lot as I wanted to find an alternate way as opposed to the logwood dye & wax. Appreciate your time and keep up the good work
Got some new sleepy 1 1/2 longs and some #11’s. Degreased them with Awesome cleaner(works super fast) then sprayed with 50/50 vinegar and water then next day used your paint mix…… came out absolutely fantastic and fast as hell lol. Great info again
That is the best system by far for me. I did mine the first of june and they have been hanging in a ol barn since. This weekend i might go get them and put them up for season. Had them hanging just to air dry. Good video Dale
Great video! I would like to add that it is a good idea to put a sheet of cardboard under your dipping operation. This will prevent ground contamination especially if you have well water.
I do the old way on foothold traps. Boil ,dye and then wax them it only cost me LP when I wax them. For how you do it will not work for me because of I have asthma. Strong fumes dose a job on me. I know what you show help other people. As for body grip. I dip on gas and a rubber mix . I got many years ago from a fur buyer . It last a long time and just add more gas to it as needed . Paints and pain thinner is what dose a job on me .
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 Yessir it is absolutely the best and fastest way to get your traps ready for the season. Thanks again for the earlier video on the how to!
No different than die or wax Blakely. They wear it off too. I think personally the paint holds up a little better especially on traps a year or more old
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 Just asking as others who have not tried it may want your Experience. It is a little less expensive when diluted at 5 or 6:1 than the rustoleum. The mineral spirits dilution is your good tip (expense wise) for folks vs the acetone that many promote. Can't dismiss the "old school" feeling as a trapping memory..............the mike

Ncmo outdoors it's perfect weather right now for trap painting. Our humidity was a little bit high today but by the weekend it's supposed to be better
Favorite time of year trap prep
Yes sir thank you Hilltop.
Another good one Dale, thank you for sharing it.

Do you use this mixture on your k9 traps also?
I use it on EVERYTHING Todd. It doesn't have an odor once it dries
I just use rust oleum spray paint flat black and then let them sit out in fresh air for a few months
And that works fine Christopher. Thank you for watching
👍🏻🇺🇸😎
I appreciate you Sonny
Great video Dale! I was painting traps yesterday and today lol

@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 I appreciate it. I'm going to paint this year for sure and was just curious. Thank you
@blakeleystrapping2860 if there's any old wax on your traps you'll have to get it off first. Otherwise the paint won't stick Blakely.
@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 thanks for the advice. I haven't waxed for a few years now.
@blakeleystrapping2860 you're welcome
What's your opinion of the petroleum dips vs Rustoleum?
I don't like the speed dip at all Michael. Id rather use the Rust-Oleum

Great tips. How long does that paint last when using them?
Should last most of the season for you Paul. If it's good hard enamel anyway

I just can't ! 🤣🤣🤣

Can the mixture be reused the next year or will it go bad?
If you can keep it from freezing Josh it should be fine. Thank you for watching
Do you ever have the paint not dry
It always dries Howard
Awesome Video!! I have K9 extremes do you paint them ?
Yes Greg you can paint any trap you want to
@ ok thanks I just know they have a good coating on them
@gregallsup9522 just wait until they need to be painted. Until then just power wash them and use them
Have you ever used spray paint for just a small number of traps?
If you're just doing a small batch of traps spray paint is fine. Just do it early enough they have time to air out good
