    Great review overall!
I just want to insert that the song "Nothing Changes" is actually way deeper than what you guys mentioned. It is actually about CHANGE.
The fact that everything always changes never changes, therefore nothing changes. Classic MGMT irony really.
But the last 2 mins of the song diverts with allusions to medieval warfare and the hero's journey with "Thrust the dagger into the night" and "Push the boulder off to the side"
The whole vibe of the song turns overtly triumphant with the last passage.
It's actually about empowerment, the opposite of hopelessness 😁✨

Bubblegum Dog is the truth. It's a place holder for the thing you've been running away from and for many of us, its "the truth" of something we're scared to face

Firstly I find it hilarious that Kid Cudi gets bought up in an MGMT review and it isn't referring to Pursuit Of Happiness 😅
Also I'd give it about an 8 as well. I love how earnest it is compared to their previous albums. And I like that although it's not overly dynamic when the dynamics are there I can actually feel them which just wasn't the case in their past couple albums due to them being a little over produced.
Congratulations is still their best for me though

-I came in not knowing anything about MGMT. AFAIK I’ve never heard a song of theirs.
-I listened to Loss Of Life a couple of times. It’s ok. I wouldn’t go any higher than the 6-7 range. I also wouldn’t put this into a regular rotation. I most likely will not listen again. I get why some people will really enjoy this. They probably are the more “sophisticated” listener.
-Mostly because I feel like I’ve heard every song on here already. A few times I had to check the credits because I was sure it had a sample. So many parts sound like they were going for a The Beatles or a Bowie sound. And not in a “they were influenced by” way. More like when commercials have someone write a song that sounds like a “real” song that they don’t want to pay to get the rights to.
    - also, I can’t shake the feeling that this is “Oscar Bait”. You know, when an actor takes on a role because they know they’re going to get nominated. Plus, it has a very “indie movie soundtrack” feel.
-So yeah, it’s good. It’s not better than boygenius’ The Record though.
    - Who’s the better singer between Beyonce and SZA? Who knows, each uses too much auto tune🥸 From what I remember of the early Destiny Child days, Beyonce was the 2nd or 3rd best singer in the group.
