Kapteenikaarna, you heard that right, the sound is from Tatra diesel engine. It has been more then 75 years after the war, original engine are rare, so a diesel engine was mounted.

Is there an original gasoline engine in Sd.kfz 9? Sounds like diesel...
Pretty sure Sd.kfz. 9 had the Maybach HL 108 12 cylinder gasoline engine, but you are right, it does sound like a diesel.
I suspect a Tatra air cooled diesel.
