The part that sucks so much about doing these is trying to follow along with your computer already at 100% disk usage😅
YEAH, I was in this situation and it was super killing my nerves😅
Or you can just use your phone to watch this vid. Good one, mate. 😂
He can watch the video on a phone but he still has to do the step by step on the slow as hell PC.. each step taking forever to loud..lol
Thank you so much!! I actually bought a new laptop about a year ago because I thought my old one was done for. It has been running disk 100% for a couple years now at least. Like others said, I thought it was a virus as well, so relieved. After following all your steps, the disk issue is resolved!! I did have to restart several times so anyone who isn't seeing instant results, be patient and keep checking the windows updates. I had to do them 3 times and restart each time. Thank you again for this SIMPLE, EXPLANATORY video without all the extra talking that can get in the way sometimes. I've subscribed and looking forward to more.
Glad it helped Mate and Thank you so much for your kind words ❣️😊
Dude you are a damn genius. My SSD was going 100% for like a few days and the first tip itself reduced it to 6% average.
That's Wonderful Mate. Glad ❤️🙋
Hey, I just upgraded my SSD today and I keep getting blue screens, any tips? (I've reformatted my PC 5 times today)

Thank you for your kind words. ❤️❤️😊👍 Glad it helped Mate
You fixed my issue - I went through all the steps so can't say which one did the trick. The computer is running like new again! Many thanks. My drive had been running constantly for years! Finally it's gone silent. The defrag took ages, but probably because of several years of the drive constantly reading and writing files unnecessarily.
Glad it helped Mate Cheers ❣️😊
I have spent over 2 years trying to fix this issue. I really don't have a lot of app's on my PC. Firstly, I want to thank you for giving GUI based commands, as I am not comfortable with the DOS commands and prompts. I had done the defrag and disabled the Optimization prior. While the fixes did reduce the 100% HDD at Startup from 10 minutes to 6 minutes. I still have this problem...Thank you for helping!
I followed your every step, my laptop works fine now. Thank you ❤️
Awesome ❤️😊🙋
The optimize starting at 3:00 did it for me. Thanks a lot!

I just wanted to say that I have gone through all of these steps to no avail. These steps are still important if you are having troubles, so I do not mean to discourage you from trying it. However, what has finally fixed my computer is uninstalling Norton 360. I must have been conflicting with Windows Defender. IMMEDiately after I unistalled it, disk use dropped dramatically. I hope this helps someone....
@CelestialCitadel1 Norton is sketchy
Better if yo nget malwarebytes or something that's not Norton owned
In my years of PC work, running multiple antivirus software simultaneously can really slow things down over all. Either CPU, the memory, or the hdd usage.
I guess too many back ground processes trying to basically do the same task.

This is a great video to show how to get rid of the stupid 100% disk utilization problem from Windows 10, which should not have happened, no thanks for Microsoft. My Dell laptop developed this problem out of the blue and it has been crashing my Chrome because it would not respond when disk utilization goes to 100% as soon as Chrome started. However, killing Chrome does not bring it down, so it is not a Chrome problem, it is elsewhere. Disabling both Sysmain and Connected Device Platform does the trick for me, it instantly dropped the disk utilization to less than 50%! I did not do anything else, as I rather not doing too much disabling to hamper the Windows operations. In addition, I would advise against disabling the disk optimization in file explorer, you want it running to do regular disk management. As for disabling the app you don't need at startup, that makes sense, if you don't use them. I am still leery about disabling Sysmain, I think it does have an impact in Windows operations because it is no longer optimize for your apps but it is an acceptable tradeoff, as it is the likely the main culprit.
Simple and effective,thank you!!
You're welcome!❣️😊

Which part that help do decrease the most?
Thanks for this video. I will try these tommorow, I have two seperate laptops, one older one which I use for almost anything and one specifically for gaming, both have developed this problem in the last month despite having completely different makeups. Could it be a windows update that has caused this? Also, should i do ALL steps on this video before restarting? Or do one at a time and then restart to see if it has fixed the issue? Thanks again!
Yes Firstly Update the windows to the latest updates.. 👍
Sorry, just at the disk optimisation stage, my option is showing as "Needs optimisation (169 days since last retrim)" Could this be causing an issues?
If it's a SSD then no need to optimize it. If spinning old hdd technology then yes you can do that.
Same I'm trying right now.. Hope its work😢
THANK YOU! Concise and easy to follow. I sense a Windows Update did something. My old 64-bit Dell D600 (8GB ram) started getting jammed when I had 25 to 30 news articles open - I scroll down Yahoo 'front page', open those of interest in a new tab, then go back to read. It could also be that CPU temp is lower by 5C to 10C (never seen it in 30s on this comp)
Great to hear!❣️😊
25-30 news articles? Dear God.
My laptop has been acting up for about 2 weeks now, I couldn’t even open chrome, this has fixed it so much, thank you!!!❤❤

Defrags are essential actually. Most times, widows has an automatic boot defrag just in order to reduce boot time. Defragmenting can also just increase general disk performance
Sometimes you need to do more than this because my disk still is 100%
So far this looks like a perfect fix. Thank you random internet guy you deserve the best

Ur a laptop user
Can u answer few of my question? Please
Is it OK to laptop to make more noise while plugged in? ( System cooling policy is active on plugged in and passive on battery) , OK?
Is 100 % CPU usage OK, sometimes?
Is it OK if fan makes noise sometimes?
I check that my battery temp is sometimes 33°C , is it a normal temprature?
temperature is fine. if laptop is very old and kept in a dusting condition this happens. Get it cleaned physically or replace the fan.
If it doesn't bother much then don't do anything... 👍
