- One of the first projects I made with the xTool M1 laser and blade cutter was this cute summer door sign. Hi, your sign looks great. I’ve seen other people use the board that the pieces were cut from as a template for placing the cut pieces. That way everything is exactly where it should be. Carefully remove the template so as not to disturb the cut pieces, then glue them down. I can’t wait for my M1 to be delivered next week.

I’m jealous! I’ve wanted a laser cutter for over a year! Looked at it, put it in my cart, but, couldn’t pul the trigger….. yet! I have too many big projects going & want to finish before getting all distracted by a new toy!🥰😛🤪. Looks like you’re doing pretty good for a beginner! Gives me hope that it’ll be a lot like my Maker, Cameo & Brother machines! I love technology! Makes crafting so much fun!🥰❤️🥰

Prepaint the backing before you score and cut. I also do that for the smaller pieces by moving each color in squares. Then score just the square on the second board and then paint the squares the appropriate color. Lastly you score and cut the colored pieces. Then assemble.

Question: with Xtool can any type of wood be used or does it have to have a coating
that gets removed after laser cut? (Like with Glowforge videos I've seen has to be
certain types etc). Thank you! Happy crafting!
Thank you! And nope, no coating is required - we can mask (with tape) on the lighter wood and acrylic to prevent. The limitation is only the size (though you can raise the machine to make like a welcome board for the front porch.
We were a bit bothered by the GF customer support lately - so many friends having problems. :(
