A little tip for the DT solar lights--we bought 10 of these little gems for "tornado season". We put them in the yard to charge whenever we get storm warnings so when the power goes out we have some cool lighting. They dont get as hot as candles or oil lamps. With kiddos and pups running around safe is always best.
Great idea! I'll do this for next winter's "blizzard season" out here in the Rocky Mountain area! We had two power outages last winter and it didn't occur to me to put our solar garden lights outside to "charge" so we could use them in the evening
I am so impressed with your broomstick tips. I bought a rolling laundry basket at Walmart to bring my groceries in the house out of my car. I can also use it too carry my laundry in and out of the house. It has saved me many steps. Be blessed. ❤❤
You just reminded me of a useful tip I used while living in apartments. Became limited physically when I was a 27 year old Mom of two. I purchased a new trash can with wheels. ALL of the laundry was put in there and wheeled to the laundry room at the apt complex. Then when they are dry, wheel the clean clothes back to the apartment to fold. I also taught.my sons how to do laundry at the age of 10 years old. That was helpful for me and helpful for them as well
I use it to create a backdrop for photo's at birthday party. I take the rectangular plastic tablecloths (cheaper elsewhere) and cut vertical strips of 3 or so colors and then tie them on to the stick. Then you can add banners or other hanging garlands etc to it. Hang the pole up and you have a backdrop for your photos!
I've used them as extensions before; however, they're not very strong if you use a lot of pressure. I've bent a couple in the past and now tend to only use strong wooden handles as extensions.

@@osakarose5612 It makes them reusable by the magnets clasping them together each time you fill it so they are more eco friendly than balloons that break. I know I would have loved them as a kid. I think they are great for older kids
Use a blow dryer on hot to loosen up the adhesive on the broomstick stickers. They'll peel off pretty easily then. There might be some adhesive residue left behind, but I find using a little olive oil on a paper towel does the trick to rub that right off. Could always use a little Goo Gone as well, but I don't like how that stuff smells.
Goo Gone is a product for just that sort of problem and generally works a treat! On something round like the pole, you can put the Goo Gone on a tissue, wrap around the area then cover with plastic wrap. Leave for a while and then remove and wipe down. Label and goo should be gone.

I love the idea of using the broomstick and hooks for the kids art work and for the kitchen for decor etc. or u could even do small toys for kids room with the baskets.
My favourite time I’ve used a dollar tree broom stick, my daughter threw her banana in between two half tall bookshelves that were diagonal from each other creating a triangle hole. Used some duct tape and a fork on the broom stick and stabbed that banana…. I didn’t have to attempt to move the books or the shelves!!!
I love how we can learn from each other's,after summer season I when to Dollar General I found some beautiful solar there where .45 they look like crystal I purchased them all every that look at my backyard there amazed
SO COOL! Thank you! And now I need to go buy about 10 broom sticks! And a big thank you as well to all of the people commenting with more awesome ideas!! you all rock!
You can scrub the fence with the broom (like the shower) and then just a quick rinse with the hose. I feel like it wastes less water and gives you a workout! I did the front of a house and had like 10 men stop and mansplain that power washing would be faster and easier. 🤦♀️ The working time was actually pretty quick.
Just bought the parts for a broomstick and Command mop hooks for the curtain rod. The Command hooks were about $12 apiece at my local Lowe’s. So, about 25.50 for a removable curtain rod. Costs in the ballpark of what a Lowe’s 3/4” curtain rod costs, but you don’t have to deal with drilling holes and all that malarkey. Thanks SO MUCH!!
Random tip this reminded me of… buy a new clean “bench brush” and keep it with your outdoor patio furniture. The furniture cushions when left on always get dusty…just whip out the brush and clean them off, easiest way to keep them sitt-able in the summer. Saves me all the time when company shows up. A bench brush has thick soft bristles meant for cleaning up sawdust and can be found really in expensively at Home Improvement stores. Not sure if Dollar Tree has them. ❤Love your videos always.❤
5:02 I’ve found WD-40 works well for getting sticky things off or you can set your hairdryer to high and run it back and forth over the label for 30 seconds to a minute to melt the glue. Also works for getting the labels off your prescription bottles before disposing of them.
A very big thank you for this tip! I need to take medications and half the time,I can never get the label off the prescription bottle cleanly! Good old WD-40!!!!
They have antique brass and metal looking spray paint that would make the “curtain rod” look even nicer. I used that and the stone spray paint on those plastic drawers when I moved into my first apartment years ago to make them look a bit nicer.
I love it. Practical re-use of available materials. I can think of a few other uses, but I particularly like the pool noodle lights. I don't want the light ON THE GROUND I need it higher up. The command hook hacks are awesome; just keep the weight under the 3 lb maximum. As we recycle every possible thing, (rural area) a recycling organizer is next on my agenda. Thank you for your ideas that we can run with.
A long time ago I wanted to make black-out curtains for my bedroom. I didn't buy them for obvious reasons. So I went to Ikea and bought their white panels and dyed them pink to go in my room. For the long window, a curtain rod would have been very expensive so I bought a long PVC pipe and spray painted. Then I took 2 round light bulbs from my bathroom lights as I didn't need them on over the 2nd sink. Spray painted those and stuck them in the PVC as rod ends. They still stand in my bedroom. Though the curtains have faded and need to be re-dyed. A very similar idea.
The command mop holder clips are the info I needed. I have 2 Leoma Lovegrove towels - so gorgous they look like fabric wall art. So I have turned them over just a little on top and bottom with iron fabric stitching stuff and put a nice 6' rod from Home Depot garden center - and hang them - gorgous truly. But every few months they fall down - the no holes in the wall things I use literally pop off.
Try wiping the wall with alcohol before applying command hooks. I had an awful time in my kitchen with them until I realized the residual grease on the walls was an issue. I scrub with alcohol then mount them, and they seem to stick much better.
It occurred to me when you demonstrated hanging wire baskets on your broomstick that to protect your wall from scuffs and indentations from the weight of the baskets you could pin or glue a long piece of clear (or colored) plastic (or wood or metal) about 2-3 inches wide and placed where the bottom of the baskets hit the wall. You want the plastic to be wide enough to accommodate the vertical travel of the baskets as you fill and empty the baskets. Hope this is useful. Also, a QUESTION: Have you seen any dollar stores (or big box stores) offer affordable broomsticks in longer sizes? Most I've come across are only 54 inches (4.5 ft) in length, where in many cases, I would wish I could find 6-ft lengths. Thanks. Terrific video.
Kallie, love your realness and quirks. Loved the "curtain rod" idea! While watching your Jedi moves MY light bulb flickered! 💡 Why not go a tad further and make the look cuter by getting a couple of the long scarves or those round cowls $tree sells by making them look like curtain swags. You'll have to do some manipulating, ie; cutting, gluing or sewing them together but I really think this would fancy it up. I'm going to do that myself I think! 😊😉💜
I use the broom stick as a chalk extender to do street art/chalk art. I also use it as a paintbrush extender for anyone in a wheelchair or a person who can't bend down
When i worked in a clothing store to clean the huge windows i would attach paper towel to the swiffer and wipe the window after spraying them. I usually did it when my manager wasn't around and she was baffled the first time she saw me but thought it was clever, especially as she was very pregnant at the time 😂
I think I'm going to use the curtain idea to create a screen set up for the projectors we've never used because we don't have anywhere to project, and I don't want to mount a screen (too much hassle right now!). Excited
When you had it on the fence, it could be used also to be a support for climbing plants like flowering vines and beans. You could put strings on it to support the plants. There is guy on youtube that does "a trellis to make you jealous" and I have made one for the garden, but was thinking of getting the broomsticks to be the posts and then could have a cord or thin wire feeding through the eyes at the end of the stick.
I made 2 of those trellises anf found even 7ft t posts werent really tall enough if used in the ground instead of in a raised bed. The broimstick would ve REALLY short but i bet for a low trellis they would work great. But i realky like the $6 electric conduit. And it will fit in a crossover suv.
We have a jacuzzi bathtub in master bath and it's hard to clean cause you have to bend over and I can't do that anymore! I bought a broom and use that to clean the whole jacuzzi!!! BEST hack ever! Wow..ideas I would never have thought of. I was fussing because they started selling the pieces individually. Like really DT??? But now, you've eased my troubled heart. Thankyou so much for sharing these!! New subbie!!🥰
You don't need a zip tie there's an attachment for the flat mophead that is similar to velcro and it sticks to the fluffy dust rag and any cloth really even microfiber cloths too. I used this set when I had my cleaning business because everything could fit in one big bucket in the backseat
I really liked the idea of the renter-friendly & economical window treatment, so I tried it and ended up over complicating it and paying more than expected... still liked the results. The issue was the window in my living room is really long and big and two broom sticks were too small and would have looked awkward as one long rod and I couldn't justify buying another broom for just less than 10 inches. I couldn't find the Command broom holder, so I used the Command heavy duty hook instead, which works well. I ended up getting a total of 4 of these hooks and a set of 2 curtains for each side of the window. So, in all, it set me back $45, which isn't much cheaper than a standard setup. In retrospect, I could have gotten 2 of the Command hooks & a standard rod from the store and it would have been the same price. Oh well. As i said, the result is decent.. I wish I could attach a picture. You can't tell they are dollar tree broom sticks!
oh my, just what i needed! this is amazing, wanted to find some option to get a drying rack for the balcony in my small space without buying a huge one, this rod + door hook hack is gonna be amazing, also hanging plants in those for sure
I have a curtain rod in my laundry room that I (just this morning) wondered what I do with it. It’s a nice one and I’ll be able to hang clothes straight out of the dryer to put on hangers. I’ve been using hooks on a decorative piece until I can hang them… so, thanks so much!!
The hack with the mop clips is genius. I have regular command hooks holding all my curtain rods up because the walls won’t hold nails. The rods are all just barely balancing, the clamps would be so much better
Ok, now I'm being snarky. You keep saying, "Use the rod vertically." Ahem... it is "horizontally". Okay, now I'm eating dinner, and I got rid of the hangries... I'm now my sweet self again. We love you, girl! 😂❤❤❤❤
Omg ❤ the idea for hanging kid paintings, as well as the wire plant baskets! I’ve got vinyl fencing in my backyard, and I couldn’t think of a way to use that vertical space since it’s not wood that I could simply drill into. Now I’m thinking I might be able to make a little vertical garden after all! Thank you for sharing all your great ideas!
I have a brand new tiny home and I love it so much… except there’s nowhere to hang towels in bathroom… so thanks for the ‘over the door hook’ hack… I’ll be using it to hang a broom handle over my shower screen!! Problem solved!! Thank you so much!! Much love from Brisbane, Australia. ♥️♥️🇦🇺
You can also buy EMT conduit, cutters, &/or benders for all kinds of projects. Yes, it can be a little more expensive, but more durable, easily more paintable, & up to 10 foot sections long.
@TheGypsyVanners It's used to cover electrical wiring. There are different types. Metal and plastic. Look in your hardware store. I use the plastic tubing in the garden to hold bird netting etc over my garden beds.
@@TheGypsyVannersI needed a long 8 ft curtain rod and was being cheap. I bought the metal conduit and cut it to length 8 years ago. Custom length and works perfectly.
I’m sure someone has already commented this but nearly all broomsticks are universal. It’s not a special dollar tree thing. For example let’s say you have an ocedar(red handle) or a libman (green handle) broom at home but you really like that broom head with the short bristles you found at the dollar tree, you can just swap the broom heads out, no need for another broom stick. It’s comparable to a soda bottle cap or a spray bottle nozzle.
I am disabled and my mom actually came up with these years ago for the very reasons Lovely here talked about. My Swiffer and these broom handles are my life savers.
I filled the handle with sand and use it to keep curtains from blowing around from the wind. I just stick it in the little loop that’s at the bottom of the curtain.
Brilliant! I have shears in my living room that fly over the table in front of the window. I never thought of this! Off to the dollar tree in the morning!
We used a utility brush with a towel rubber banded to it at my highschool job. Its temporary, and allows you to still use the brush underneath and wash the towel when needed. Great hack.
If your kids are old enough you help they can be on either end of the stick with the bags on it. Then you can be sure they are going with you and helping at the same time! Especially if you have more then 2 kids. Kids love helping and feeling useful. Gives them purpose and helps their self esteem! Just s friendly tip from not only a mom but a former preschool teacher.
Thanks for the info in the video Kallie. There are some I have done and new things to try. I also wanted to tell you that your so beautiful without make-up.
I I have a brilliant new hack use oven cleaner to take off Grease around your home especially throughout your kitchen I have also discovered that it also kills roaches

You don't need a zip tie there's an attachment for the flat mophead that is similar to velcro and it sticks to the fluffy dust rag and any cloth really even microfiber cloths too. I used this set when I had my cleaning business because everything could fit in one big bucket in the backseat
On a cruise ship I saw a man cleaning the baseboards with a 4" paintbrush duct taped to the end of the mop holder. It works really well.
That’s a great idea. I think dollar tree (or TEMU) sells an angled broom
@jenniferkern5650, you didn’t get his name and number for hire did you? 😉😁
Another easy fix for the broomstick window treatment is to paint either tennis balls or ping pong balls and stick them on the ends.
Great idea
Thank you for sharing
That’s a great idea 😮👍♥️
Awesome tips! I need to use the tile and shower cleaning tips. The duster one looks very helpful.
oh my, just what i needed! this is amazing, wanted to find some option to get a drying rack for the balcony in my small space without buying a huge one, this rod + door hook hack is gonna be amazing, also hanging plants in those for sure
Thank you for the shower/bath cleaning brush. It has saved my back, shoulders, and neck. :)
I have a curtain rod in my laundry room that I (just this morning) wondered what I do with it. It’s a nice one and I’ll be able to hang clothes straight out of the dryer to put on hangers. I’ve been using hooks on a decorative piece until I can hang them… so, thanks so much!!
Great idea 👍👍 helped me solve my problem 🎉🎉
Clever use of the wire baskets. I used them on the front of my kids bicycles.
The way you configured the broomstick to clean the ceiling can be used for baseboards too!
The hack with the mop clips is genius. I have regular command hooks holding all my curtain rods up because the walls won’t hold nails. The rods are all just barely balancing, the clamps would be so much better
Hi, Im not a huge fan of grapevines, but LOVE all of yours ! Thanks for sharing your talents & time!❤
These are brilliant. The broom with with attachment also works for removing snow on the car.
Ok, now I'm being snarky. You keep saying, "Use the rod vertically." Ahem... it is "horizontally". Okay, now I'm eating dinner, and I got rid of the hangries... I'm now my sweet self again. We love you, girl! 😂❤❤❤❤
A Rubber broom head to “rake” up pet hair! 🐾🐾
Love the window curtain hack!!
I love all of these! Thank you so much for sharing! I will be using almost all of these!
Dawn Powerwash removes stickers and labels really well.
Use lemon grass essential oil on the sticker and it comes right off!
Or Goo Gone which has lemon oil in it. That works great on adhesive stickers.
HEAT UP STICKERS WITH BLOW DRYER TAKES IT OFF 😊
I have a brand new tiny home and I love it so much… except there’s nowhere to hang towels in bathroom… so thanks for the ‘over the door hook’ hack… I’ll be using it to hang a broom handle over my shower screen!! Problem solved!!
Thank you so much!!
Much love from Brisbane, Australia. ♥️♥️🇦🇺
Great ideas! Particularly liked the solar light on the pole.
You can also buy EMT conduit, cutters, &/or benders for all kinds of projects. Yes, it can be a little more expensive, but more durable, easily more paintable, & up to 10 foot sections long.
I don't know what those are? More descriptive please.
@TheGypsyVanners
It's used to cover electrical wiring.
I love your Broomstick curtain rod idea. !! Great idea. Love those tips.
Old $Tree broomstick don't fit new $Tree broomsticks brooms.
I am disabled and my mom actually came up with these years ago for the very reasons Lovely here talked about. My Swiffer and these broom handles are my life savers.
Thank you for some ideas to consider.
I like the gate light ♥️🇬🇧
I filled the handle with sand and use it to keep curtains from blowing around from the wind. I just stick it in the little loop that’s at the bottom of the curtain.
Very smart!💝😎💝
Brilliant! I have shears in my living room that fly over the table in front of the window. I never thought of this! Off to the dollar tree in the morning!
Hot glue to keep sand in?
Boy, you are full of great ideas! Thank you!
Wow so many great more ideas in the comments Rv living this is the best ideas for me thanks everyone 👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
I love the broomsticks on the solas and I can make them all thank you I'm glad I watched you
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Great video. Wish I had room for many of your ideas, but I do have a handle and a couple of the different pads and they are used often.
We used a utility brush with a towel rubber banded to it at my highschool job. Its temporary, and allows you to still use the brush underneath and wash the towel when needed. Great hack.
Top tip.... WD-40 or any oil will remove anything sticky in a second.
Exactly and does not leave a residue
Great ideas for the broom stock. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve used the tip using the broom stick and solar light. I saw Megan from Glue Guns and Roses do it a few years ago
Does it last through weather?
Is it sturdy enough to stand up?
If your kids are old enough you help they can be on either end of the stick with the bags on it. Then you can be sure they are going with you and helping at the same time! Especially if you have more then 2 kids. Kids love helping and feeling useful. Gives them purpose and helps their self esteem! Just s friendly tip from not only a mom but a former preschool teacher.
Some great tips here! Thank you 🙏🏻 😊
Thank you !
Ohmigod, I'm so un-crafty but i like the look of the black baskets on the pole. Seems so easy!! I might try it. 🤔
Thanks for the info in the video Kallie. There are some I have done and new things to try. I also wanted to tell you that your so beautiful without make-up.
Hi on the broom rod to hide the top of the rod you can hang a plastic ivey plant or of your favorite
I I have a brilliant new hack use oven cleaner to take off Grease around your home especially throughout your kitchen I have also discovered that it also kills roaches
At 4:33, where did u get/fins those circle Clips at??
Oh I just bought the Dollar Tree dupe for the Command Mop holders 🥺. I was wondering about the adhesive. Darn it . But all those hacks are pretty cool
Great ideas!!
