I’m guessing thru the video it looked a lot different just from the angle of the camera. I’ve seen this test in person and the NGK absolutely has a much larger spark and a much brighter spark. If you watch it on another video there are a few where they have a better angle and probably a better camera and you can see it! I was a denso believer for ever until I seen this test in person I also did the test my self on my CBR 954 RR it was even more dramatic on my bike no doubt about it NGK is the much better plug! I guess that’s why all the bikes now come with NGK in them from the dealership
You're not crazy at all I don't think they understand what's needs. You want a solid steady spark the ngk was unstable grabbing other spots while the tt plug was legit direct and solid which tells me what I want to know but! My thing is how long do the tips last and would it still work out if it breaks off Pretty much giving a larger gap.....I'm literally thinking of getting a set of tt's but my fear is a valid one I assume
Dear Johnthan Ramos! I agree! The Denso had a blue violet spark and at certain times looked just as good as the ngk. The ball on the denso was broader more barrel like while ngk was slimmer. I think either plug pretty good! As long as irridium hold up! Awfully tiny electrode though, and what if it burns up? Theres less mayerial there to last 50,000 miles versus regular nickle electrode. And remember these hi faluten irridium plugs are relatively new technology. I kinda wonder if any tip left after 50,000 miles. The smaller tip means less cost for material but less material available over many thousanfs of miles. What if irridium vaporizes then there would be no tip! Just gap! These companys are cost cutting by way of less material on electrode and wears out quicker because theres less material to wear. Pretty sneaky Id say! Im t hinking old standdard plugs may be better in the long run! Im rethinking the fluff of irridium! I say, to each his own plug! Buy whatever floats your boat. Im thinking Bosch or Autolight or A.C. maybe Champion in a pinch.best cosult owners manual!
Yes what does that mean for us in a car ? I heard something about them using triple crush washers to prevent the spark from escaping out the bore on these bosch plugs I was considering I think it’s because of that concept ?
Thanks for the in depth review. I've been using NGK LASER IRIDIUM PART #9723 FOR YEARS. BMW 750 & DODGE CHARGER SXT BLACKTOP PLUS and my ride always fires right up with plenty of Pep in her step. And when you combine ported upper & lower intakes with a bigger ported throttle body coupled with an AFE COLD AIR INTAKE AND RIPP IGNITION COILS MAKES FOR ONE HELLUVA SLEEPER! 😂
Go to slow motion, Denso's spark looks bigger and dense, NGK's spark might look bigger because is moves from left to right very quick, but is doesn't looks as dense as Denso's spark. I am sticking with Denso.
Yeah 100% more controlled. Denso is what my car came with from the factory and i'm sticking to the same plugs. These are both great but the Denso is more controlled more even spark overall.
According to what little I know, certain cylinders may be weak or habe oil in them, ergo a hotter plug # is indicated. On the other hand, a hotter plug is not always indicated. The resistance is important. A resistor plug will allow better radio reception. But will not nesessasarily give best performance. Check the ceramic part of plug for warm brown to yellow brown color. ANY GREY OR OIL RESIDUE OR GASOLINE ODOR ON YOUR PLUG INDICATES IMPROPER BURN OF FUEL. IT ALSO TELLS CONFITION OF CYLINDER AND RINGS. ANY OIL THAT SNEAKS PAST RINGS GETS ONTO PLUG AND BURNS SLOWER OR NOT AT ALL. ITS THE COMDITION OF PLUG YPUR AFTER NOT FANCY MATETIALS. EACH CYLINDER MAY REWUIRE ITS OWN HEAT RANGE PLUG NUMBER. HOPE THIS HELPS USE INFO AT OWN RISK. HAPPY MOTORING!
I just bought 8 Denso TT iridium plugs for my GMC Sierra from Rock Auto. They caused random misfires on completely random cylinders!! I put my old Ac Delco iridium plugs back in and no problems. I contacted Rock Auto because I think they fakes. Rock Auto told me that they reject the notion that their supplier would have had fakes. 6 of the 8 had random misfires on random cylinders under random conditions. I ordered some NGK’s this time. They better be legit or I am through with Rock Auto.
Perhaps it was the camera angle vs your vantage point, but I didn't see much difference in the two myself. However, I'm thinking the camera may not be capturing the full scope of the difference. I figure at twice the price, the NGK has to offer something. My Camry 2.5L will need plugs soon and I'm hoping the NGK Laser Iridiums will give better fuel economy than the presumably stock Denso units.
true, i just bought the denso ik16tt....at high rpms in a 2012 vios the kickdown is weak after 120kph, correlates exactly with this test. I also ran the ngk bkr6egp before this and the engine ran smoother with about the same kickdown response, but maybe a 0.3 second slower throttle response. The standard denso k16r11....is better than both in response and kickdown and the cheapest, but not as smooth as the bkr6egp...
