  • JYing Xin Su Charged and Remanded for Illegal Firearm Possession Amidst Dismantling of Criminal Network
Ying Xin Su, a 30-year-old travel agent, was recently charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition following her arrest during the dismantling of a criminal network. Su appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court last Friday, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges and was subsequently remanded to prison. The case has been adjourned to July 22 for disclosure.
The charges against Su stem from an inter-agency intelligence operation conducted on July 9 at Providence, East Bank Demerara. This operation led to the arrest of Su and two other Chinese nationals, as well as the seizure of $39 million, an unlicensed 9mm pistol, and 15 rounds of matching ammunition. The two other suspects have since been released pending further investigation.
The Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU), which deals with white-collar crimes, has issued a wanted bulletin for Zhenjian Fang, a 44-year-old Chinese national, in connection with money laundering and related serious offences. Fang’s last known address is 47 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara. The police have requested that anyone with information on Fang’s whereabouts contact SOCU or the nearest police station.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects, including Su and Fang, are part of a transnational criminal group involved in gold smuggling and other illegal activities. The Guyana Police Force continues its efforts to dismantle this network and bring those involved to justice. oin this channel to get access to perks:
