The world is a far better place thanks to the existence of these creative, soulful, skilled and kind musicians....I am so grateful for their uplift!
I saw Bill, this drummer, and a viola player back around 2000-2010. It was "The Beautiful Dreamers" tour. They did "Strawberry Fields Forever." Very well done.
I don't care what anyone says... Bill Frisell is only as good as those playing with him. These guys listen AND are empathetic AND able to deliver the goods. Not just good musicians in the same room....with Bill. Why why why do we have to say "everything" is good. But this is good.
The look ok bills face while heâs playing is one of our concentration yet the notes flow like warm honey through that impeccable backing of drums and bass. Genius !
Absolutely magnificent. Bill Frisell is now my favourite guitarist, alongside McLaughlin and Abercrombie.
Great interplay between these fine musicians.
He was born a year before I was, and came to Berklee a year after I left. If I had a time machineâĶ Iâd stay on another yearâĶ just ONE ensemble with him, thatâs all, and Iâd die happy!
Probably Bill's best trio, though Kermit and Joey are no slouches...Some of the tunes in here:
My Manâs Gone Now (George Gershwin)
Valentine (Bill Frisell)
Keep Your Eyes Open (Bill Frisell)
Lotus Blossom (Billy Strayhorn)
Strange Meeting (Bill Frisell)
Follow Your Heart (John McLaughlin)
Baba Drame (Boubacar TraorÃĐ)
What the World Needs Now Is Love (Burt Bacharach)
We Shall Overcome (Charles Tindley)
You Only Live Twice (John Barry)
Thank you for taking the time to compile the setlist and song writers! Big help.
What a magnificent concert! That version of 'Strange Meeting' is worth its weight in gold - the best one i've heard Bill play! It really manages to convey the enigmatic beauty of that tune in new ways. Utmost gratitude to Rudy Royston and Thomas Morgan, all around amazing musicians that really allow Bill to further expand these excellent tunes! Beautiful stuff - mila esker!
Agree. Fantastic version of what might just be the definitive Frisell composition. Rudy's drumming is perfect - it's what makes this so outstanding. Bill always looks like he's still learning to play the guitar (I suppose, in a way, he is). This is as good a group as he has ever led.
I also like how Rudy Royston is placed upon the stage in relationship to Bill Frissell and Thomas Morgan .... equilateral!
And you can see what heâs doingâĶ important for drummers!
What a magical set! Also, am I the only one getting a giggle from the thought of what the audience must be doing? I can just imagine some guy in the audience biting into his mild hot wings with the 2 celery stalks and ranch on the side, then he points his finger up at the 22 year old waitress, asking for one more bottle Corona.
Absolutely fantastic , to me the best concert of my best player with my favorite tunes , music from the heart...in a beautiful bass and drums surrounding !
I couldn't say it any better:)
Baba drame. Te amo Bill !
"Valentine" is with Nels Cline`s new one and John Scofield`s "Swallow Tales" the guitar jazz album of the year 2021. Thx for this warm and floating music. I love it`s melodies. It`s kind of sweet melancholie and of course your country/americana influences, Bill.
We Shall Overcome omg what a truly beautiful version....
I love their modesty.
Zen guitar ð
Hey these guys sound kinda trippy wouldn't you agree ? Bill's signature transposition of "You Only Live Twice" is brilliant ! Inspiring !!
Fantastic set! What an amazing version of Strange Meeting. Thanks much for the upload!
Un gigante della musica, senza mai dimenticare il supporto dei musicisti che completano il gruppo.
Applausi.
Magnifico, una pura joya, que hermandad musical entre estos tres genios.
Magnificent, a pure jewel, what a musical brotherhood between those three genius.
Fantastici
Awesome
PrzepiÄkne. Przenosi na inny wymiar i otwiera nowe perspektywy.
Total Fan! exciting!
Bill Frisell : What else ? The drummer is so in (a genius) ; we can feel like Bill Frisell show to Thomas Morgan to play with the silence (he become a grÃĐÃĒt bassplayer)
Thanks a lot for sharing this great concert. Zorionak!
love it!!
Wow. No masque. Bueno!
What exactly do you mean by that comment ?

@@Donostiajazz Please, what is the one beginning at around 52 min. Thanks !
I wonder if you can listen to that if you are not musician ??
Absolutely can. My wife is not a musician and she loved this almost as much as her musician husband does btw I'm a Classical guitarist. I love jazz players. They blow my hair back.
He is a musician's musician. But the rest of us can also hear the music.
@@falsenotefest You think this music is boring, and we think your music is boring. C'est la vie.
@@cfibanez Well i don't think that it is boring for real, but perhaps a bit difficult to ear for a long time if you are not a jazz musician. Yes everyone has his personnal limits in feeling, understanding or liking complex melodies or dissonants chords or other structures and rythms.
According to research, most novices will like a cheap wine better than a more expensive one. It takes practice and experience to appreciate something more complex. I've listened to jazz for 40 years. Once I got a double live CD with Miles Davis. It took ten years before I could fully appreciate it. And no, I'm not a musician, although lately I occasionally try to play the drums.
