    Also, you get major and minor triads out of the diminished scale. You can move those around up and down in minor thirds too.

    Thank you!!! This, along with the byzantine scale, are probably my all time favorites.. and finding your excellent, complete and easy to follow videos, are exactly the update course I needed at this point in my musicianship. I'm starting to understand how they work, why they are so beautiful and haunting, and how it checks out delightfully with my growing up adoring King Crimson, Opeth, Steven Wilson, Meshuggah, among others. Magnificent 🤘❤‍🔥 (edit: I must say, the diminished tune playing behind the video is such a delight. not all dare thread the path of prolonged uncertainty. *Salute*

    It should be a great pleasure to give us on patreon an Ebook about the diminished scale of this excellent course as you did for the harmonic scale recently. I will expect it. I repeat this message because it's realy very important for me and I like your EBooks.

      Because being a good player doesn't mean being a good teacher
      I've spent years looking for a teacher
      I found one who can teach what he can play
      the rest can only play on the principle monkey sees monkey repeats
      and when I asked them "would you teach me", they couldn't
      they could only show it, see it, repeat it, don't ask what it is

    I swear, man , I thought my theory was upto scratch. Relatively good playing (Even though that is meaningless as I have no comparison, like good compared to Lil Wayne? )🤪 okay, not as good as him, but up there with JayZ ! He he he. Sorry, I went off on a tangent. Must be the snowballs😋 Be that as it may your videos are brilliant, I can only imagine the time and effort. The modes one was brilliant and the way you showed how to get your head round them relatively is such a good way for songwriting. And not that hard to comprehend. In the key each mode has the same tension notes, all the modes in the key of C use F and either or B . I look at it like changing the tonal centre, say D Dorian, but play Dminor and when you bring that B in , interest is piqued. Anyhow, I wanted to let you know I’m inspired.❤

    Sir,
    I want to say there has been nobody who has given a very clear explanation like you.
    Thank you very much and God bless you.
    But I have an observation about the two diminish scale I guess it is C dim7 = C Eb Gb Bbb and D dim7 = D F Ab Cb diminished not Cdim7 = C Eb Gb Bbb and Dbdim7 = Db Fb A Cb. Kindly let me know if I'm wrong. It is found exactly 2:13 into the lecture time.
    Thank You.

    • @timsmith190
      @timsmith190 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed that also. The diminished 7 scale is made up from the notes of any two diminished 7 chords a whole step apart. eg. C and D diminished7, not C and Db. I believe the Dominant diminished scale is made from two that are a half step apart. Do you know if this is correct? It makes me wonder how much attention is really paid to instructional videos like this.

    • @Chris-w4j
      @Chris-w4j 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Diminished scale (mode1)
      C Dim7= C Eb Gb Bbb(A)
      D Dim7= D F Ab Gb
      Dominant Diminished scale (mode2)
      C Dim7 =C Eb Gb Bbb
      Db Dim7= Db Fb(E) Ab Cb(B)
      One is fully diminished the only chord on the root is
      Dim7 (1 b3 b5 bb7)
      Susb5 (1 4 b5)
      Sus2b5 (1 2 b5)
      1 2 b3 4 b5 #5 6 7 CDEbFGbAbAB
      6= bb7
      Dominant Diminished
      1 b2 b3 b4 b5 5 6 b7 CDbEbEF#GABb
      b4=3 b5=#4 6=bb7 b3=#9 (however you want to view and use the intervals)
      can be used over
      Dim7 (1 b3 b5 bb7)
      min7b5 (1 b3 b5 b7)
      Dom7 (1 3 5 b7)
      Min7 (1 b3 5 b7)
      Sus#4 ( 1#4 5)
      Susb2 (1 b2 5 )
      The notes an intervals can be confusing because it's an octatonic scale with 8 notes. I noticed he was doubling up the C with one at the end (Cb or Cbb) so it would be clear.
      The Diminished scale mode 1
      C D Eb F Gb Ab Bbb Cb
      Dominant Diminished scale mode 2
      C Db Eb Fb Gb Abb Bbb Cbb

    This is really helpful thanks. I'm still confused haha. To be honest when I first started trying out the harmonic minor scale it sounded bad but then i made it work i guess its the same with this puppy in fact they sound similar i would say if they were a cheese. The minor scale is like a gouda the harmonic minor is like a medium mature cheddar and the Diminished is like a Gorgonzola they all have more intense sounds the deeper you go.

    • @40pianos
      @40pianos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anybody who's honest about using the diminished scale finds it endlessly confusing and revealing. Through repeated use in different situations it reveals its many dimensions and applications. While easy if you're merely copping licks or playing arpeggios, mastering the scale takes years.

    Too much distortion. One note blends into another and we lose the affect of the notes on the chords.
