Anyone who's played this game past the first few levels knows just how evil this game truly is, and seeing this runner destroy it is immensely satisfying!
An all time favourite game and probably one of the most frustrating too. Awesome run, this game is really nostalgic for me.
Yeah, I also have a serious love-hate relationship with it lol. These days I prefer to play Rayman Redemption...
The music for Bongo Hill will be forever burnt into my brain.
It's really surprising how goddamn difficult this game is. I'm not even totally sure why it's so difficult. Small screen size, maybe? Kind of unresponsive controls?
This was the first game I played as a kid. To see it be speedrun, and see all the exploits gives me so much second hand satisfaction!
@@tasman001It was actually because the game wasn’t properly play tested, hence the development team was completely unaware that they were making a hard game.
The runner Thextera was absolutely amazing and super engaging with his strat explanations. One of the best runs I've watched this year of any game.

43:54 Probably one of my favorite parts of watching gdq is watching games I played as a kid and figuring out that clips/glitches I did to get things was not the way to get it. The 3rd cage in Mr sax; I thought it was supposed to be obtained like that as a kid because Rayman was the hardest game I had, so I assumed the game expected that much of me.

I have never seen anyone else play or even talk about this game before. I remember it driving me to tears of rage and frustration. Thus, every time you guys mentioned how incredibly frustratingly hard this game was, even little things like "the game gets much harder in the third level", it was deeply, personally vindicating.
My favorite game on ps1 and still one of my favorite games to this day. And that band land bongo hills level hits you with that music nostalgia really hard, definitely my top 1 ost.

i LOVE rayman as a character, specially rayman 2 as a game. I have never played this one, so seeing the scene where Rayman kinda hugs it out with the mosquito boss is amazing to me. I had a super warm moment. I love you Rayman

I played this game so much when I was a kid... And I spent SO MUCH TIME on Rayman Designer, the level editor
seriously difficult game, mad respect for the simple fact he can speedrun it, let alone the time
Thextera has some extreme hand-eye coordination, reflexes, improvisation (for the parts that don't go as planned) and... willpower! One could drive a fighter jet like this.
This was one of my first PS games and it's indeed ultra-extremely hard, yet I still could finish it multiple times still as kid, but also at least 1-2 times in the last 10 years. Definitely more satisfying than beating an easier game. About the same goes for Rayman Revolution and Rayman Hoodlum Havoc. It's a pity there never was a fourth regular 3D platformer title as sequel. (And then 5th, 6th...)

How did you get the game to look this good?
I use an OSSC (upscaler) and use the x4 scaler to turn the 240p video into a 960p video and then just point scale the rest with OBS to 1440x1080 ^^
Lol, 40:28 just casually do one of the hardest jumps and don't even mention it.
So in a game where you need to get everything to unlock the last level….what makes this an any% run?
a bit late of a reply, but yeah, since we skip a boss, it would be weird to call 100%. Also, we're still beating the game as fast as possible, therefor Any% ^^
