Great Video and editing.. I noticed that one of the comments you knew the Paxtons you must mean Craig. When did you Graduate kings Park high? I know you went to kings Park high and Primary school from another video you did. If so I must have meet you before at a Party I'm sure of it .I went to Stevesville Primary and Graduated in 1992 but didn't go to kings Park high I went to Footscray City and graduated in 1998. I caught the 424 bus and got of at Gillespie road you know around near the Paxtons . I was very good friends with a couple of Veit boys that lived were you did some of them I'm sure you might know them.. Hope to hear back.
It's no different to any other surrounding suburb. The worst and most violent times are gone. They were the late 70s to 90s. The wogs Croatian, Maltese , Greeks, Italians ,Serbs , Turks etc . Everyone knew how to fight. No trouble with the Viets they were cool. Unfortunately even back then drug dealing was and still is the problem Good video keep it up.
Been in St Albans for a couple of years now. It's been good. But the vibes still sketch me out compared to quieter places I've lived. Way less inclined to be wandering the streets here which is a shame because it's probably fine.
@ my parents bought their Hifi system at brashes, it came with record player, twin tape decks and 6 CD stacker .. they also through in a free YMCA CD.. good memories
Hi TJ , I’ve grown up in St Albans and lived on opie rd which my parents are still there haha. I’ve never had issues living there and still live close by. Yes I think drugs have pick up again around the area but not as bad as the 90s to early 2000 it’s a yes and no safe place to live but like everywhere else drugs and crime is always there as well.
Drugs are everywhere man, even in the good suburbs.. they just hide it better.. man I use to live right next to Opie road, had so many friends that lived on that road
Early 2000s I went to Werribee then point cook and now I’m near Essendon way. I rarely ever travel to St Albans, so that day when I traveled by foot, I felt like I was 15 years old with my Caribbean bag, with my baggy blue cross colours, hyper colour T shirt and my Sony Walkman.
@@TJ_OFFICIAL_MELB i feel you. As soon as you step in that footpath. Its memories of growing up. From st albans to werribee then towards essendon? Big move change.
I lived in St.Albans in the 80's. Couldn't walk home from school without fears of getting bash. Speed was the main drug then herion took over in 90"s. People got bashed at st.albans pub every week. I Lost a lot of friends to heroin before they made 20. Some would be gangsters would always jump people and leave them in a bloody mess. St.Albans is the only place in Australia where cops would drive up and down the same road (Main Rd) all day hoping to deter crime. St.Albans was a shit hole and always will be. Most last station suburbs were shit holes.
Nice video. If you ask me. St albans changed? Yes. Did it become better? Structure and safety? In a way yes. Would you walk there at night? I would not recommend it. There was a point where “western businesses” Saw potential in st albans at few points. In the 80s or even earlier had alot of western businesses. It slowly and slowly faded away. Late 80s very early 90s still had quite a few western businesses . Believe it or not St albans in alfreida street had western computer shop owned by caucasians toy kingdom, shoe shop - where the sell school shoes and doc martens etc.. owned by caucasians They also had fosseys - it was coles but was similar to a mini kmart. They had a variety store which was owned by maltese/ italian/ greek owners. They even opened a block buster video because st albans had potential. Since the - maltese, italians, greeks etc all moved out the area. It was due to all asian migrations. The maltese , greeks , italians etc all left st albans and went to the new estate at the time - keilor downs, taylors lakes and sydneham. St albans then was all asians once the euros left the area. All the shops began being all vietnamese and chinese stores. 70-80s st albans was run by euros, maltese, italians and greeks etc. it was a wog area. 90s it was a vietnamese area. 2000s islanders started coming in Late 2000s africans started coming in Around 2010 indians started coming in. I moved to australia in 1988-89. I was the first batch of immigrants in st albans. At the time there was no asian stores. Maybe 2 years later the first vietnamese store opened. I saw st albans as a wog area or caucasian area believe it or not. Then i saw it become asian suburb. In the early 90s i never saw an islander or indian or even african walking in st albans. I remember saying to friends or family what is an islander person lol. I even said whats indian. If i told you toy kingdom was there would you have believed me lol?? If i told you fosseys was there ? Now its kfl supermarket, before it was kfl that was fosseys, a mini kmart- sold clothes like Jeans, hot wheels etc cars, chips, drinks, shirts, etc. me and my brother used to walk there when i was about 8-9yo. Back then they had the water fountain which was nice at the time. It had lighting at night changing color. Then lighting stopped. I think they also took it out because it was dangerous. Such as a random drowning someones head. Due to increased crime. Different demographics now. I also got to include. Early early 90s. Someone died at the fountain. I saw crime scene tape or police tape next morning when me and family walked to the train station to go city. I am not sure how he died. I think from word of mouth someone drowned him or he drowned after being high or something. That is one reason they took off the fountain. Later on alot of drug use and people who were high could drown themselves in that fountain. It was a great fountain, i remember playing in that fountain as kids me and my brother (rip) and sister at the time. Then it got dirty, people would throw rubbish or maybe even pee in it. That fountain had to go. For safety.
Mate what a great read, I do remember the doc marten shoe store cause I use to dream and ask my parents to buy them. I can also remember Fosseys and you kingdom aswell, this is the same time when they use to have the Duty Free store. You are right though, early 90s had big western shops, and now it’s changed into a mini Footscray. I can even remember someone dying in that fountain, your memory is on point! Great right up brother!
Bro love your write up mate dead on the money was slowly getting better the Caroline Springs was built and the filled it with housing commission within the norms so shit went straight back downhill home of the rich bogan and the there is the fully poor family's and people that area has no potential to be fixed because the ly decided that footscray was more appropriate for development well that worked well *NOT*
@@TJ_OFFICIAL_MELB yes. I remember that too. Someone died in that fountain area. Early early 90s. I was a little kid then. I was walking to the train station with my family to go city. In the morning. We walked past that fountain and it had police tape. Crime scene tape. Then later on the news we found out someone died near the fountain.
@@peterbroome-r2d i remember at one point me and my dad used to all the way to footscray to go to the electronic shops. Footscray was a haven place for that, at the time. Tvs, cd players, stereos, dvd players. Then little by little the stores became less and less. Now its majority restaurants.

Yeah mate did the same except no jail done it all at such a young age hanging out with 25 30 yeah olds who introduced me to some really fucked up drugs and shit so much trauma from that place but thanks to people like @spanian for putting out his vids and tj now I'm so much more open about talking about it i had a mate commit suicide and his fucked up parent rang me and said hey cone over I was like 12 he was around 25 he was hanging in his garage and his parents made me look at him and then they said this is what happenes when you are in the game that he was in (HERION) which was brought over by the Asians and it destroyed the area including everyone in it but we are here today to look back and fix our trauma by talking to like minded people instead of judgemental people that say that stuff never happens they just never had to live it just to afford food in st Albans was hard enough alot of Aussie family's in that area around those times were very poor and people would be lined up for days at the salvation army and the church just to get some basics was so shit and there were alot of gambling places around that area pokies bingo tab then centreline all on the one stree bassiclly destined for failure which my parents had this same issue but good part is I don't have never gambled in my life I only gamble with my life LOL😂😂😂

Thank god that level crossing is no more!!! The hectic traffic and detours during the construction period were worth it. So many accidents and even deaths over the years. It was decades late, but late is better than never and now that intersection is so smooth...
@@TJ_OFFICIAL_MELBI remember that event in 1996. Mike Munro and Ray were disgraceful, but that's A Current Affair for you. A year later, John Safran made a series called Media Tycoon. He invited Shane Paxton along and sat outside Ray Martin's house, and when Martin appeared from his front gate, Safran asked why he wasn't at work at 9am. It became a heated argument. Shane Paxton was John's timekeeper. The clip is on TH-cam.

The police do drop off homeless people in St Albans, and they just let them sleep on the footpaths in front of shop doorways, all day long. They don't care and don't move them on at all, St Albans seems to be a dumping ground for the homeless, because everything is there, good cheep food, shelter, and friendly people. Like any suburb, St Albans has its issues, but it is a great place.
I lived in the heart of st albans on Erica ave where block buster was mid 99s to early 2000s. There’s a saying if you no you no and if you don’t you really don’t.st albans was hectic the drug seen was out the gate. There was little street gangs” but if you were in the no there was real ones out there. I seen some sht yous couldn’t imagine practically new every muppet out there or they new me and my brothers it was st albans sunshine and Footscray these towns were practically connected. Who remembers the good old BP Boys there smoke was good all the time though you could only get sticks Lol.
hhhhmmmm wonder why......I grew up in the west, its was the most safe family area to live. We left windows and door open, we stayed out late never worrying about getting mugged or bashed. its not the place i grew up in.....🤨😐🤨😡
St Albans has always been a shithole. I lived there for a brief period in the late '90's and I remember there was a pool hall business that openly sold drugs over the counter. Haven't been to StAlbans in years but I doubt it's improved there. Love your channel man 👍 EDIT: Pitstop! That's it! I used to live around the corner from it 😂
When they first built that i used the Mecca's carpark and drive thru and that huge motherfuxjer of a rounderbout that used to be there as a drift track never got in trouble that place used to go off in 2008or9 for skids and the cops would never come we would start at around 12am and leave at like 5 6sm straight to work was such good time fuck this shit brings back memory's you would most like never remember if not for videos and comments on here ❤❤❤❤

Unfortunately even back then drug dealing was and still is the problem
Good video keep it up.
Thanks brother , great points
Been in St Albans for a couple of years now. It's been good. But the vibes still sketch me out compared to quieter places I've lived. Way less inclined to be wandering the streets here which is a shame because it's probably fine.

That was before I discovered Brashes in Highpoint

Hi TJ , I’ve grown up in St Albans and lived on opie rd which my parents are still there haha. I’ve never had issues living there and still live close by. Yes I think drugs have pick up again around the area but not as bad as the 90s to early 2000 it’s a yes and no safe place to live but like everywhere else drugs and crime is always there as well.
Drugs are everywhere man, even in the good suburbs.. they just hide it better.. man I use to live right next to Opie road, had so many friends that lived on that road
@ I had a Aunty that owned that milk bar on every green dr a couple of years ago. I think someone bought it and tune it into a home.

Where do you live now? In the vid you said you havent been in st albans for a long time? Where did you end up living or moving to?
Early 2000s I went to Werribee then point cook and now I’m near Essendon way. I rarely ever travel to St Albans, so that day when I traveled by foot, I felt like I was 15 years old with my Caribbean bag, with my baggy blue cross colours, hyper colour T shirt and my Sony Walkman.
@@TJ_OFFICIAL_MELB i feel you. As soon as you step in that footpath. Its memories of growing up.
From st albans to werribee then towards essendon? Big move change.

Very true
I lived in St.Albans in the 80's. Couldn't walk home from school without fears of getting bash. Speed was the main drug then herion took over in 90"s. People got bashed at st.albans pub every week. I Lost a lot of friends to heroin before they made 20. Some would be gangsters would always jump people and leave them in a bloody mess. St.Albans is the only place in Australia where cops would drive up and down the same road (Main Rd) all day hoping to deter crime. St.Albans was a shit hole and always will be. Most last station suburbs were shit holes.
Man that’s horrible, sorry to hear that

St Albans looks nicer now.
yeah it does.
Who else thought Dil Dosti Restaurant about @7:11 said something else at 1st ? 😳
Did I?? 😱
Nice video.
If you ask me. St albans changed? Yes.
Did it become better? Structure and safety? In a way yes.
Would you walk there at night? I would not recommend it.
There was a point where “western businesses”
Saw potential in st albans at few points.
In the 80s or even earlier had alot of western businesses. It slowly and slowly faded away.
Late 80s very early 90s still had quite a few western businesses .
Believe it or not
St albans in alfreida street had
western computer shop owned by caucasians
toy kingdom,
shoe shop - where the sell school shoes and doc martens etc.. owned by caucasians
They also had fosseys - it was coles but was similar to a mini kmart.
2000s islanders started coming in
Late 2000s africans started coming in
Around 2010 indians started coming in.
Now its kfl supermarket, before it was kfl that was fosseys, a mini kmart- sold clothes like
Jeans, hot wheels etc cars, chips, drinks, shirts, etc.
me and my brother used to walk there when i was about 8-9yo.

The police do drop off homeless people in St Albans, and they just let them sleep on the footpaths in front of shop doorways, all day long. They don't care and don't move them on at all, St Albans seems to be a dumping ground for the homeless, because everything is there, good cheep food, shelter, and friendly people.
