So, what you really need to do now is to pull up these same songs in searches that also include the phrase "stop making sense." The Stop Making Sense Tour and Movie is one of the great events in rock & roll history, as a series of live videos, and I'm pretty sure most of it is available on TH-cam and doesn't generally get blocked.
Tina Weymouth wrote the French part of the lyrics as she is half French on her mother's side. Her band Tom Tom Club is just as amazing as Talking Heads. Her bass playing is funky as it gets.
As I'm sure someone else must have already suggested that you watch the stop making sense film. Even if you have to bust it up and not watch it all at once it's amazing if you haven't seen it you should.
The Talking Heads are legendary. Incredible creations & very intelligent. A little bit of genius thrown in there, as well. Love this band. Thank you for sharing! =)
I first heard and saw them when they appeared on Saturday Night Live in the late '70s. For a new group, I immediately thought they had a lot going for them. I really like their take on Psycho Killer during their live "Stop Making Sense" video.
Yeah it was fun listening to the CBGB performance evolve into Talking Heads: 77, but the ultimate destination for me is the Stop Making Sense version, because the second guitar makes a big difference.
Al Green was a actual Church Preacher, a genuine Gospel Singer, to go wa-A-y Deep & Far Back, Check out the Fairfield Four,100 years & counting I believe, the McCreary sisters from the " Where Brother Where Art Thou?" Are daughters of F.F., singer, they are the classic four octave vocal combo❤❤❤❤pre-Temps, pre-Miricles, before you have Fruits you must have ROOTS!!!
The Talking Heads, along with Patti Smith,Blondie,New York Dolls cut there teeth even amonst each other as both audience & stage performers in CBGB's a real dive in N.Y.C. but facilitated ART,ARTists dictate what ART IS & Preserve Culture
You wanna see something extraordinary? I still feel as though Demme's Stop Making Sense is perhaps the best documentary film of a live concert ever put to celluloid, but this single song is the ultimate live capture. th-cam.com/video/YO7N2tFb0X8/w-d-xo.html Think about the phrase, "I'm a tumbler, born under punches." And then, "All I want is to breathe." Good lord, there's a lot of pain lacquered over with beauty.

The live version of Life During Wartime is insane the entire concert video is rated as a top ten ever LIVE performance for the entire show
The definitive version of “Take Me to the River” was sung by Big Mouth Billy Bass. Nice video 👍
The fact that they were filmed 1975(on film) shows people were paying attention THANK YOU 🎸🎤
Great reaction. "Stop making Sense" is sheer brilliance.

Just found your reactions and I am hooked!! Y'all are great at it!!
What you need to know about Talking Heads is... Radiohead got their name from one of their songs.
I am grateful to have older sisters who introduced me to all sorts of weird music back in the day.

👍👍👍
Much as I love Al Green, TH is the definitive version of Take Me to the River.
Added: You need to do the concert film Stop Making Sense.
We will eventually 😁
Tom Tom Club have the most sampled song of all time

The Psycho Chicken version is a hoot!
I swear I can hear the junkyard band from Fat Albert in the back of that first live version of Psycho Killer.

Velvet Revolver does a great Psycho Killer.
Pardon your french....
I prefer almost all the other songs off More Songs About Buildings and Food, over Take Me to the River.
