Do yourself a favor and watch the entire concert film, "Stop Making Sense"... it was peak 'Heads and expertly filmed by a world class director. Maybe one of the best filmed concerts.
Such a cool vibe. Its stature has only grown over the years. Deep albume cut becomes the standout. Burning Down the House, Swamp, and Girlfriend is Better used to get a lot of airplane back then. Today, this one has really taken hold.
Cool song, cool band! They have their own distinctive sound. Next, check out “And She Was” released in 85, “Wild Wild Life” released in 86, “Burning Down The House” released in 83, “Once In A Lifetime” released in 80, “Road To Nowhere” released in 85, “Life During Wartime” released in 79, and “Crosseyed And Painless” released in 80. That will keep ya busy for a while. 🤣✌️
Got to see Talking Heads on this tour, about a month before they recorded their concert film, "Stop Making Sense", which you should definitely check out. Even though I am not a Patron. I do love your reactions.
Talking Heads released their fifth album, Speaking in Tongues, in 1983. I was a sophomore in high school and the album was popular with the kids. Jonathan Demme filmed the shows in Los Angeles during their tour promoting this album and released it in 1984 as the concert film Stop Making Sense. It ranks high among the best concert films ever made. When you're ready for more from Talking Heads check out a couple of the other choice tracks from that record, "Burning Down the House" and "Girlfriend Is Better", or sample a few treats from their earlier records, "Pulled Up", "Heaven", and "Crosseyed and Painless".
Classic! As a kid, around '83 I borrowed this tape Speaking In Tongues and Ramones- Subterranean Jungle from my friend. Very different sounds but a couple years later I found a book that explained both bands came up playing in the NYC bar CB-GB's and were part of the birth of punk rock. Even tho the term new wave fit Talking Heads much better. And They played many shows with Ramones over the years, and Blondie also played with both bands.
After 40 years of listening to this song I just came to realize the music is the sound of a happy home.

The BEST imo

This whole album is full of great funky rhythms.
Masterpiece! I was lucky to hear my friend's cassette when it was quite current. Burning Down The House, etc.
One of the greatest rhythm sections of all time.

My favorite by them. “The less we say about it the better, we’ll make it as we go along”.

This band certainly had their own unique style and sound. MTV LOVED THEM.
Adore the Heads.

The ultimate summer song imo ❤
Almost countless all time great tracks. Do not miss Mr. Jones, and Facts of Life (and others) from their final album Naked -another masterpiece.
My favorite bands, The Beatles, Steely Dan, and Talking Heads

First time I heard this song was in the movie “Wall Street.” I knew I had to know more about the band immediately.
What a band. Saw them 4 or 5 times back in the day in NYC. They always were coming from a place no one else was.

Greatest Guitarist - Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy Suite
This will BLOW YOUR MIND
The entire album “More Songs About Buildings and Food” is amazing. It came out in 1979 but every NY band in the 00s was trying to capture that sound.
This is a Great song ! So much Good music from the Talking Heads ! Great song arrangement. Great memories from this ERA. !
Nostalgic…first time I heard this song it was in tue 80s a kid , dad’s stereo system pioneer sx1980 🔊
