  • An unexpected update regarding my M112 W203 (S203) C240 Wagon with a serious issue of having two bolts snapped while attempting to replace the water pump. Two weeks later we ended up with a very controversial decision to tackle the issue!
    Shoutout to my stepdad for the crazy amount of knowledge and the help he provided!

    What wheels are those off of? Need spacers or anything?

    • @UrielArtsGarage
      @UrielArtsGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      they come from an old w210 e-class! No need for spacers! just direct fit

    If it's not broken, don't fix it. Unless the water pump is timing belt driven, I wouldn't touch it to replace it proactively. I've barely touched bolts before, and had them break right off. I'm not sure if PB Blaster would have even helped in your case.

      absolutely, lesson learned for sure! just wanted to do preventative maintenance but in this case it was better to just leave it as is!

      @UrielArtsGarage The older Mercedes are best, before 2005.
      After that, they started to go downhill rapidly. Did you know some have Renault engines ? I had a courtesy car from Enterprise, I was shocked when I found it had a 1500cc Renault engine. Luxury prices for a Renault, it may be a better mercedes fit and finish interior, but it is not a Mercedes engine.

      m112/13 engines were the last actual bullet proof benz! but my m272 on my c350 has been very much bullet proof as well averaging 40k miles a year. I do take care of mine very well however. @@tonyhull5539

      @UrielArtsGarage I agree. I am in UK, the c220, and the likes here have Renault engines. Your engine will be, let's say,'Genuine Mercedes' as it is not an entry-level merc. I used to drive a Jaguar XJ, lots of people not just in the UK also in USA complain about the reliability of these cars. Well, just like you, if you look after them, they will reward you with years of service. The people who whinge and complain about them don't look after them, or, buy them used, spend all of their money to buy them, then have no spare money to service or look after them.
      Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, in fact, all the old luxury manufacturers all took advantage of the brand name and went down the 'Mass' Market route. They went to countries with cheaper labour costs, so quality suffered in the pursuit of profits.
      Look at the US markets, Ford did the same, Lincoln, Mercury, were absorbed into Ford, Dodge into GM, then went down hill, other US manufacturers did the same.

      agree! you'd be surprised the amount of times I see people neglecting their cars! especially European brands here in the U.S. I personally find it satisfying to do maintenance as I know I can trust a car to do long amounts of driving in the future! Though people here are also mostly not a fan with diy labour however.
