    This is exactly what old town needs to do!

      Thanks Drew, yeah I never understood why Old Town didn't make a pod for the Topwater like they did for the Predator. I'm sure there are many more Topwaters than Predators out there.
      Thanks for watching!

    Was just searching for consoles for my 106 pdl and stumbled on to this video. Awesome idea here. Nicely done! Wish they’d make these for everyone.

    How did you make you pdl plate ? Am trying to find out how I can make a template .

    • @CaliforniaOutdoorsman
      @CaliforniaOutdoorsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris G, I took tin foil and put in the hole and pushes the edges in until it was perfect and semi rigid. Then I traced that on a piece of cardboard. I trimmed and added more cardboard until it was perfect. I used that as template to trace on a butcher board that was the right thickness.
      There are guys selling a plastic plate for covering the hole but the thickness is off so I decided to do my own.

    Did you notice any difference with the wider rudder?

    • @CaliforniaOutdoorsman
      @CaliforniaOutdoorsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the larger rudder feels strange to the hand but turns much faster

  • @benruthlessburger8905
    @benruthlessburger8905 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice does the new rudder help out with the turning radius ?

    • @CaliforniaOutdoorsman
      @CaliforniaOutdoorsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! The rudder feels like overkill when pedaling. I bought it solely because the motor. It's the one that comes on the Old Town motorized kayaks. Definitely not as smooth gliding as the original.

    How did you go about getting the perfect shape for the gap? Trying this tomorrow!!

    • @CaliforniaOutdoorsman
      @CaliforniaOutdoorsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I took a piece of aluminum foil and just molded it into place and used it as a template to mark a piece of cardboard. I cut the cardboard a little oversized and trimmed it until it was perfect. Then I used that as a template on butcher block that was the correct thickness
