  • I have had my T@G camper sense the fall of 2016. We camped in it 2 times in 2016. I plan to do more this year and see how much fun we can have with it. We have added mods and used ideas we how found on Facebook to make thing easier to use and enjoy our tag. This video shows a few we have done. I enjoy hearing other ideas as to cool ways to get the most out of these cool campers. Some people ask, why pay so much for such a small camper... Well I just say “You have to be a T@Gger to understand". Hope you enjoy and share some of your ideas and mods.

    I just bought me the tag xl. I like it but for me I don’t like the mattress’s in it. Walmart has a camping cot that sits about 8 inches off of the ground and I have one that I will swap out with the mattresses. Then I have a tri-fold 4 inch memory foam mattress that I put on top of my cot. It’s like 25 inches wide by 74 or 75 inches long to add to comfort. Also with the cot you can use under it as storage also. Just an idea for you to think about. Cot was like $40 at Walmart and I can’t remember exactly how much the foam mattress was. I actually bought it to use in back of my suv when traveling.

    Enjoyed the video. We have a Toyota Rav4 and are looking at teardrops like the T@G since we can't pull anything much bigger. Your T@G looks really nice.
    Had no idea Walmart had a quiet generator like that. I might need to invest in one.
    If you plan on boondocking any (which I do when we get one), I think I would add solar. Something like a portable panel that can handle the load of your fridge and lights and such while charging the battery at the same time. Saves the generator if AC isn't needed. Extra water. I've seen people mount jerry cans on the sides of teardrop campers and on the tongue. And I would also get a porta-potty setup. Likely the 5gal bucket "luggable loo" type thing paired with a popup changing room as outhouse. And cold/cool weather, I would probably get a Mr Heater little buddy propane heater.

    I’m also looking at a dual propane and gas generator to buy come Black Friday. I don’t know if you have one but mine’s a 2021 and it has an additional propane connection under the back but the galley that you can plug into with a longer propane hose. I also seen where a guy hook a propane tankless hot water heater on the side of his so you can have a warm shower on the side. If yours has the outside shower to it. He used 2 heaven duty suction cups to hold water heater on the side. The tankless water heater is like $125 and the suction cups that has hooks to hold water heater and it was like $20 for 3 of them.

    We also have a Tag, we upgrade from a little guy 5 wide. We pull with a 6 cyl. Toyota Tacoma. Pulls great. About 18 mpg. I had to modify the front jack. It drags going down a steep curb return. I cut about 3 inches off it a drilled a new pin hole. I’m also thinking of replacing the 20 lb propane tank with an 11 pound tank, that way I can store my foldable solar panel in the storage space.

      You might want to think about getting a Jack E Up for the front jack.

      Don't change your propane tank. We just went to the coast with a small tank and had to refill it every single day. At home in the mountains the same tank would last three to four days. It was crazy and totally unexpected. Someone told me it has something to do with pressure differential. I'll never go on any trip with a small tank again.

    Your homemade 4 plug extension should be GFCI protected. Looks like plain outlets?

    Thanks for sharing your mods. I'm hoping to pic my T@g XL up next week. You have a battery guide around 3:20 on battery life. Can you share where you got that from? I would appreciate having one. Thx

      The chart can be found near the end of an excellent article on batteries. Go to www.marxrv.com/12volt/12volt.htm scroll down and you'll see

      Battery charge indicators that report the % of use can also be purchased, eliminating the ned for a chart. Do a search on Amazon.com for battery state of charge indicator

      I have the exact vehicle but a 2014. Have you had any problems towing; I read that it only tows 1500 lbs dry and the T@G is more than that????

    • @Turtle3863
      @Turtle3863  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the biggest T@G, the T@G Max XL and its dry weight is around 1350 lbs. Just do not load it up with too much and you should be OK. So far I have towed from Kentucky all the way down to the bottom of Mississippi and back with no problems, allow a little more time on braking and that's about all you have to do. I try to keep the speed under 65 mph and my mileage has been cut to 19 to 22 MPG, just depends on how much you push on the gas.

      thank you very much. I plan on putting a bbq, clothes in the T@G nothing else. I'll put all spices, cooking utensils, pots and pans in my CRV. It should work don't you think. I love the T@G Max Xl; that's the one I want I just don't want to have to buy another vehicle just to tow with

    That work box extension cord mod looks like an electrocution waiting to happen.
    For pete sake you dropped 14k on a camper and your going cheap on an extention cord
