I was there, at Wembley, July 11, 1986 and it was the last time I saw QUEEN live. My friend Lisa and I traveled Europe ending in London to attend this concert. I saw QUEEN 12 times and met them during their last US tour in 1982. Fabulous guys and very down to earth. I also have personal items from QUEEN that I bought in 1989. And my most treasured is a top hat Freddie wore at my first QUEEN concert November 23, 1977. During ‘39 just after Love of My Life Freddie was wearing the hat and approached the edge of the stage and threw it to me standing on two chairs in the 4th row. I treasure all the memories being a fan of QUEEN since 1974. Thank you all for listening. 🙏❤️

Freddie wasn't just a great singer, but he wasn't afraid to put his own feelings into the songs. Can you belive, that Love Of My Life was originally written on the piano? (The recorded version is also very beautiful.) Brian rearranged it for the acoustic 12string guitar for live performances. What is better than 80000 people are singing along with you? When 250000 are singing as they did in Rio in 1985. 🤣

this is when you know a band and singer have reached legendary status... that every generation listens to and falls in love with Queen and freddie mecury i predict that in 100 years new generations will still be discovering queen and the great music they made.

    • @ikirsikas
      @ikirsikas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Can't say it better. Queen has already been written into the history of world music and will stay there. I believe that in 100 years, "We Are The Champions", "We Will Rock You" and other hits will still be played like today we listen to Mozar and Beethoven.

I’ve watched this dozens of times and that beautiful 12 string guitar never fails to move me. As for Freddie - well I’ve loved him since I was 19 when I first saw him - and I’m 66 now. I grew up with Queen and I love seeing new generations discover the genius of Freddie and the entire band. Great reaction. Subbed by the way - you earnt it after your Live Aid reaction. That guy with the guitar is Dr Brian May - he’s an Astrophysicist as well as being a brilliant musician. I could go on:)

Freddie was incredibly shy in real life and in interviews. This clip is actually from either Freddie's last or one of his last shows. Between this show and during the recording for their next album, The Miracle, is when Freddie started visibly looking sick. You should check out some of the songs of those last three albums like The Show Must Go On, These Are the Days Of Our Lives, A Winter's Tale, and Mother Love. A Winter's Tale was written by Freddie from his hospital room in the Alps and Mother Love was the last song he ever recorded that he never finished. The last verse of the song is sung by the guitarist Brian May, an impressive man and musician in his own right.

You know Freddie never had a voice lesson or a voice coach. The entire band was self taught. The only lessons were Freddie’s Aunt giving him piano lessons when he was 7. She noticed he would hear a song on the radio and then able to go to the piano and play it!! Now that’s God given talent. Brian was playing a 12 string acoustic guitar with this song. He and Freddie make such a great team. The played off if each during every concert.
Please react to Play The Game live in Montreal 1981 and Save Me live in Montreal 1981. There will never be another Freddie Mercury. The 4 members of Queen were together 21 years before Freddie died

Backstory; The guitarist is Dr. Brian May, PhD Astrophysics. Lead guitarist in a supergroup & published author in advanced physics and cosmology, the man is a legend. Also noteworthy, with his dad's help, he MADE that guitar at 17 years of age. The drummer, Roger Taylor, (obviously not playing on this song) completed his training as a dentist, and the bass guitarist was an electrical engineer! Those guys were all geniuses! 🎸🤛🕊️✌️

Singers who would sing as good, if not better live, and didn't need special effects to make them sound good. These singers were pure talent, and so many were also song writers. This performance had a sad hidden meaningfulness. As he was starting to feel the affects of HIV and he knew something was wrong, it made these Wembley performances more touching. Next year in 1987 he was officially diagnosed. I think when he played Wembley in 86, some of these songs had extra meaning for him as he knew maybe he wouldn't do this again, like the part in this song where he says at 3:05 'I still love you', he says it with genuine affection for his fans but almost with a farewell about it. His fans and performing were the Love of his life, so for me this was a great but sad performance.

nerves of steel? naahhh, being on stage, performing, that stuff *was* THE love of his life! It's often hard and tiring work too, but there are times when that flow, the music, the people, atmosphere, man, it just takes you away, while performing you're almost out of your body - those are *golden*, glorious moments, you're really, truly "high" - i'm in my 70s now and the last time i felt that was 40 yrs ago but, hey, it's still here, inside! Also, at the performance of the Queen's Jubilee Celebration earlier this year, Roger and Brian announced they are going to release another a "new" Freddie Mercury song around Sept. (the 5th is Freddie's, mine is the 4th, and yes, both Virgos, natural born perfectionists who expect everyone else to be one too, LOL)...

This is probably top 3 of Queen all time great songs and for sure was their best live song. You should hear the studio version with Freddie on piano because it's different than Brian May on guitar and Freddie's vocals on the studio version are more controlled. Queen were the masters of live performances because they were ten times better live in concerts. You also need to react to this song live from "Rock In Rio" in 1985 because the crowd sings much more of the song. And it's even more impressive when you realize that the people of Rio don't speak English as their native language but they sing the entire song in English. Great reactions here!

Great reaction, thanks! There is another performance of this song that is worth viewing. It's their Rio 1985 performance. The crowd was estimated to be between 250k-470k people, the latter was reported by some sources for the first night but I don't know how accurate that is. I can tell you though that the crowd was the largest I have seen for Queen. It is particularly amazing because English was not their primary language yet they sang every word! I find Queen audiences to be particularly amazing because, with Freddie's leadership, they instinctively know what to do.

Freddie (lead singerl is truly amazing but Queen guitarist Brian May is a master! Layers of sound and exquisite orchestration (all guitar) equally add to Queens' truly unique style. Listen to The Millionaire's Waltz or the Prophet's Song to be blown away again!

There was a mutual love between Queen and their fans. They wanted audience participation and wrote songs that enhanced and encouraged audiences to be a part of the show. Fans understood that even if they didn't speak English. As someone wrote react to Love Of My Life live at Rio

Since Freddie died Brian performs this song alone. Imagine Brian asks the fans to sing for Freddie and they always do. Brian is 75 years old now and still touring. Search Love of my life 2022 and try not to cry.

So much queen to love. This was my mommy’s favorite band so I grew up in the 80s loving this band. The last tour they did in the US and I was only 8. My mom said I was to young for such a big rock concert. I had been to concerts but nothing this big. He died just a few short years later so I never got to see them. My mom still feels a little guilty cuz I still adore Queen and I remind her she wouldn’t take me. 😂😂I’ve been to hundreds of concerts and I’ve only 2 people I feel awful that I was just to young to see when they were touring anywhere near me. Queen, and MJ. And I had planned on seeing MJ on this last tour right before he died. No matter where I had to fly or pay. I WAS GOING!! so glad I got to see prince a few times. Once in a big venue and in 2001. In a tiny bar in Norfolk va. Still hands down best show ever. But I have a feeling Queen would have been beaten prince. Anyway. With queen songs go under playlist start at the early stuff and just go with it. Save these are the days , mother love, The show must go on for last. As it was the last videos and songs that he recorded.

I just found you tonight and I had to sub! You take your time and enjoy Queen and so many other types of music. I am over 60rs and just started listening to a little rap. If you don't like a certain song, that's ok.But stay open. One last thing, you have a great smile☺

Huh. I was at that concert. I had a college friend who was a major Queen fan and he persuaded me to go. I'm so glad he did as it was their final tour. Just a fantastic concert. Freddie was superb, as was the whole band. But Freddie.......

One Queen song leads you to another Queen and another Queen song they're that group that never fails to amaze you with their incredible music and lyrics. I've been listening since 1975 and I still can't pick a favorite Queen song lol because there's just too many. I think you'd enjoy One Vision live at Wembley, and Spread your wings official video ✌

I really enjoy how appreciative you are of the individual talents as well as the whole picture. I’ve spent the past hour enjoying your channel. Thanks!! Freddie was a master at making even arenas holding hundreds of thousands part of the show The Live Aid concert - he and the rest of Queen were playing to a global audience. And they made us all feel the show was an intimate affair. I hope to tune in to your reactions more regularly, now! And, may I make a suggestion… try to contact or share your enjoyment and genuine appreciation with Brian May or Roger Taylor, somehow. With social media, it may not be that difficult!

the line that strikes the strongest saddest here is "I will be there at your side" (when they get older) because by 1986 Freddie knew he was dying from AIDs at a time when there was practically nothing that would help - he tried all the experimental stuff avail then but died 1991. Bless that man, he brought so much joy into this world! 🤍

This song is about Mary Austin, who Freddie was with and engaged to for the longest time. Even after they broke up, they were still really close, even living next to each other. Freddie said that no matter what, she would always be the love of his life and that if he wasn't queer, they would've had a family together. She is the only one who knows where Freddie is buried.

Have you seen the video of the crowd singing Bohemian Rapsody at the Greenday concert? I think you'd enjoy it. (It was after he'd passsed.)

Let me tell you compadre. Queen is just top, but... most British bands are. Those people cannot stop coming up with extra-extra-extraordinary talent. There is one exception. Rush. They are Canadian, and they are just as fucking good as the brits. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath (with Ozzy Osbourne), The Beatles, and so many other bands, those guys are just phenomenal. Funny thing is that many times they were learning from American Blues bands and they just delivered it differently. You gotta check them all out. By the way check out a Green Day's concert, the crowd singing Bohemian Rhapsody. You will be quite impressed
