THEN, thru the magic of modern technology, Freddie "walks out onstage" (via a giant video screen) and sings the last part, leading the audience who of course sing with him. It's chilling, and there isn't a dry eye in the house... quite often including Brian, who keeps a kerchief in his lap behind his guitar to wipe his eyes. THAT... IS TRUE LOVE/FRIENDSHIP.

I would also point you to Freddie’s last video, These Are the Days of Our Lives, reminiscent to what was, very emotional and essentially a goodbye to his fans. It was actually written by Roger Taylor thinking about his kids but the poignancy to Freddie’s circumstances was very appropriate. Took everything he had to do this.

Even though Freddie was gay, he and Mary had a love that couldn’t be replaced. But I was also thinking that the song was written for someone else that he loved, maybe even an unrequited love? When this song was written Freddie Mercury hadn’t come out yet. That’s my theory. Either way, the song is a tear jerker!

That does put this song closer to being a breakup song for Mary. Now, David is the guy Freddie wrote Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy and You Take My Breath Away about/for.
