Carl running and managing La Luz is the most weird situation ever. I can't recall him having anything to do with Barry, or very little, despite him working in the kitchen at the restaurant so for Barry to say he want's him running the club is bizarre!
Absolutely. Barry also wouldn’t let Jimmy Corkhill or Carl (someone he’s barely exchanged one word with) run La Luz. He should have asked Julia Brogan to run the club under Maxie Farnham’s supervision.
Spot on. Looks like we were all as surprised as Jimmy with that announcement. Carl must have been ‘Employee of the Month’ material since he started at Grants for Barry to put him in place as a potential manager. Or maybe he just doesn’t trust Jimmy as a long-term replacement. Also I just remembered, doesn’t Oscar Dean still the own the club? He’s barely mentioned anymore.
Can’t believe this is the same Rachel who married Mike, was a total doormat and acted nice as pie to everybody. I started watching in 1996 so I’ve never seen these episodes until now. I’ve read people complain that some characters completely changed around 1996/1997, and now I can see why.
Gary died and got buried without a single mention of Greg and Carol. I suppose we know that Greg is back inside for the armed robbery but Carol just disappeared. One minute, she was everywhere and then she was suddenly in hospital and we were told her illness (what illness?) has got much worse and she has to stay there. Then, she was pretty much never mentioned again. Anybody know what happened there? Was it planned or did the actress quit? Seems like some very hasty rewrites took place.
Brooky had a habit of getting rid of characaters without proper exits. I guess this could have happened in the case of Carol? Wasn't why Greg at the funeral? I know he was jail but you've thought they would release him to see his son get buried.
“Ya wor? I’m Barry’s right hand man and when he’s left me in charge before and what’s he’s seen? profit. Now if ya don’t mind, I’ve got a bit of biznizz to do (gets excited)……and I get to treat our Jackie hey (chuckles). Tara kid, come on cracks!”
Bing convenes a residents meeting to debate what he has for breakfast. I’m guessing he has a bowl of Kellogg’s Common Sense (with skimmed milk), a slice of whole meal toast and a cup of Earl Grey - all purchased from the Trading Post.
Carl Banks mentions in a previous episode that a women living in the house behind his also died of the virus. No mention of a ‘cordon’ for any of the streets surrounding the Close🤔
This is the tail end of the mystery virus storyline.Brookside was exciting during this period with the imminent Jordache trial then the stalking storyline with Jenny Swift and Mick Johnson.
Jean’s not 100%, still a bit weak after the virus. Bing could easily finish her off - a hard clout around the head with a tin of sustainably-caught tuna - purchased from the Trading Post.

Utter tripe. Realistically, he’d tell Max to hold interviews and to hire somebody with actual experience, or he’d get one of his dodgy mates in
What’s more absurd is a few weeks later Barry offers Carl and his family the use of his Florida house for a holiday. 🤔

Bev is such a fantastic character!
@cakes3958 yes she is a complete character pure comedy
Barry’s place has transitioned from public doss house to Jimmy’s personal domain.

List of residents who call David Crosbie “Bing” 😂
Ron (obvs)
Sinbad
Jimmy
Mick
Eddie
Mike
Do any of the women? Bev?
Yes. Bev does on occasion. Mo usually says 'Dave' but definitely calls him Bing once or twice.
Must be a first, a husband finding out his wife is pregnant before she does!
Nice one Baz, doing one and leaving La Luz and your house in the hands of a no-mark like Jimmy. What could possibly go wrong!? Er?
Eddie and Rosie looked more like early 50s than 40s.
Pat Farnham lecturing Bing about his affair with Audrey forgetting the fact she stole Max from Susannah.
thank you very much for showing

Lee Banks seriously needs to lose that centre parting😅
Barry leaves his club and house in the charge of Jimmy Corkhill!? 😆

1:15 - not like Bing to not want a residents meeting to discuss something.

George Manners brought the virus into the country: Barry took the virus to Florida.
Good grief, Eddie! The head on that 44:02
