Listen to this guy because he knows what he is talking about. Te only thing that I would recommend is starting "real" flight with a Nano qx and then go to the Nano mcpx. Cheers!

Yes I agree everyone needs to learn on a Simulator. Also get SAFE and As3x it's worth it for all skill levels.

I've been flying for almost 9 years now. I still love it to. Your advice about getting started is 100% true. I started with a mcpx heli from blade, now I'm flying Logo 700 and goblin kraken 700. I didn't use a simulator until like 2 or 3 years later when I was starting to get into 3d.

I started flying R/C helis in 1974 (no simulators, no gyros) and it took me 3 years to learn to hover. I was the first person to do an outside loop in my area (3D didn't exist). I may be different, but I've never learned anything on a simulator. If I can't do it with the heli, I can't do it with a sim. Your video has a lot of good advice.

The skids are the only weak part I've found on the Nano CP S. Buy a few spares, they are dirt cheap. Other than that mine's been very durable.

great info. Thanks for putting this together. I'm taking a break from planes to focus on helis this year. Been at it since Christmas and really getting the hang of it now. You weren't kidding about the time on the simulator. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes!

All great advice, I switched to helicopters from planes back in the early 90's, I learned on a Kyosho Nexus 30 with a rate gyro, no simulators back then, it took me a whole summer to learn to hover, I only had one boom strike during the entire learning process. I still fly my nexus today but with a heading lock gyro, and let me tell you that I had to learn to fly all over again when I switched gyros, who knew that one needed to use rudder in forward flight to turn the darn thing :o) Flying the heli with a rate gyro was just like flying a plane, Yank and Bank it

I went straight to a trex 470. I am actually doing really good. I crashed twice, one I just broke the tail boom, the other one broke a little piece of the main blade. I am still doing hovers with some tail input.

sounds good. Its a lot of fun learning. I know when I started flying heli's it was the hardest RC had ever been for me. Good Luck

Great video, thanks. After too many crashes I've just bought the Phoenix version 4 (it up grades for free to version 5 as soon as you start it). Personally I thought the graphics and choice of flying sites were better. If it helps potential purchasers, it runs fine at high resolution on my £400 laptop.

I own a Bergen Intrepid Magnum 90 Nitro helicopter owned by Tom Riggins, it's beyond mint condition and I am too scared to fly it, LOL. Contact me I may be willing to sell it but on the fence. If you have any questions or want to see photos contact me...
