    You mixed up not the valves as you stated . You mixed up the push rods which is not recommended. You now stand the chance of bending the push rods when you go to start your vehicle.

      That'll explain why everything broke 2 days later, intake valve was on exhaust and vice versa😅 stupid me... Gosh darn! I'll write myself up

    The push rod lengths are different. There are 5 3/4 inch lengths and 6 inch lengths. Best to put them back in the same order as you removed them.

    Never remove or disturb the injectors unless you need to replace the "O" rings or injector on them. This is excess work you do not need to do which could cause "O" ring leakage. The intake manifold will come off without removing the injectors.

  • @jaydee9630
    @jaydee9630 ปีที่แล้ว

    about 16:23 minutes into the video it shows the wire harness connection that feeds the injectors is already unhooked. Seemingly simple to disconnect this plug, I am unsuccessful at disconnecting this plug, which is underneath the far passenger side of the lower intake manifold. Any tips at disconnecting this connector would be appreciated. Thanks for making this a great tutorial for me accomplishing changing these gaskets.

    Well my daughter's 05 Equinox starting leaking from the back driver's side lower intake gasket.... saw it with my pressure tester...... therefore I put K-Seal in it and it lasted for 6 months until it was no longer winter (and I was not sick). It is leaking again so I'll do this job "right" this time..... thx for the video. Can you give all the torque specs on the bolts for this job .......

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there... The job is pretty straight forward! I don't have torque specs immediately on me. However, this is a super common engine. Check Google for "Chevy 3.4 intake torque specs" and there should be specs and sequence.

      Y question being you just torque the rocker arms to 24 foot pounds and that's it no more monkeying with them

    I laughed so hard... you said I have tools everywhere. Bahaahh I had been saying the same thing. Question: Got it all back together and it will not start. Hit it with a shot of ether and it will fire for a brief moment. Rechecked all connections and wires. I don’t have a fuel pressure tester but you can hear the pump energize and when you hit bleed it shoots gas, so there at least some pressure. Any ideas? Thanks!

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Scan for codes... And address check engine codes..
      If there codes present, clear codes and see if car starts...
      If both above fail, and car ran fine before servicing intake, likely you left something unplugged or isn't plugged in properly. Such as injector harness, it sits under intake and if theres fuel but no injector pulse. You'll have those exact symptoms you're experiencing. While youre removing things to inspect injector harness, make sure all ground straps are properly connected

      customhonda thank you so much for taking your time to answer!!!! Bought the car on the cheap from auction. Had two blown head gaskets and intake was blown as well. However the car would start with zero problem. The job was much bigger than I anticipated but got it finished. When home I am going to do as you suggested. I think you are right about at the injectors... can you tell me what you mean by ground straps? My hat is off to you who do this by trade, the work is no joke, takes skill and it’s very hard labor. Again, thanks for the reply. A big thumbs up!

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PastorGabreilBeady May have not actually been a blown head gasket lol... Intake gaskets melt and mixes with oil! In the future, while car is running, screw off the oil cap and see if it's pulling vacuum! There should always be crank pressure and not vacuum in crank case with this engine.
      Thanks, keep me up to date, I'm fairly confident this is your problem, as the sub harness has to be remove when removing lower gaskets.
      To answer your question, ground straps ensure engine component requirements aren't overwhelmed with one source by isolating load requirements via ground source. A related but related additions, the engine is supported by rubber mounts which aren't conductors, "the ground straps" bridge the connections between car and engine basically. But relating to your issue, it's a possibly that a component control circuit ground may not be connected effectively causing a component to become inoperative. This is why I say check your grounds.
      I do have a simple video making a ground strap on a Kia sorento in my archive also diagnostic videos with a bad ground causing ABS module to generate code.

      I have a 05. And my intake leaking by the thermostat area so I know that the two ports on that side is damage or weak spot. So when it run hot its usually the lower intake not the head gasket right? No oil and water mix pure oil clean.

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll either place then in sort of an order, like beginning till end, keep them with the part removed or in small piles. There only like 3-4 different sizes, can't really screw them up and it depend on job.
      Large jobs like doing an engine replacement, I'll keep all bolts for top side repairs in a pile and bottom in a pile, any item removed from the engine stays with that part. Simple...😎

    Did you replace the gaskets with the same crappy plastic ones that GM used? Why not use the metal (aluminum) gaskets from Mahle or Fel-Pro? I'm in the process of doing this job and I've got the metal ones. Just wondering if you have a preference and if so, why? BTW, THANK YOU for posting this video. I had a few questions about this project and every one of them was answered by watching.

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I used a "plastic style" replacement. Reason primarily is because the current ones lasted 100k plus miles before showing signs of wear. And these should last another 100k with no problems.
      I also offer a 1yr free replacement on anything I install/purchase new.
      To add, there can be a revision of the old product without it "looking" the part. There lots of different types of plastics and not just one😊.
      Hey, thanks for the feedback! If there's any other questions related to the video I'll try and ask asap.

      I have the same vehicle and my intake is leaking on driver side by thermostat. Not much but I noticed I gave a lot of air blockage and my bleeder wasn't bleeding the coolant system well. Then I noticed my thermostat housing back bolt was loose and it ran my truck hot hot to red line 4 times when I was trying to get home. Its been sitting for 6 months now. Now it wont crank even with hot battery. You think its locked up or my starter has gotten weak from cranking every time it ran hot..
