    Thanks for the help! I was able to do the back door in a breeze with your video. For all those interested, I have changed every cables on all 4 cargo doors of a 2007 E250. Only the cargo doors, not the front driver and passenger...not yet. The cables and metal unit (if you were to buy the whole kit) are identical on both side cargo passenger and back door passenger. The only difference between the two is the bottom lock. The bottom lock on the cargo passenger door is attached to the metal while the one on the back passenger door is attached to the license plate box/tray. The cables are identical on both units.
    The same applies to the inside cargo & back doors (the door you open after opening the right one) The metal units and cables are identical for both top and bottoms.
    Also, the 'top' cable (the shorter one) from both cargo & back passenger doors are just to open the door from the interior. Well, that short cable is identical length to the 'left back door bottom" (driver side). I was in a bind because the back driver side door would no longer open. I had a spare cargo passenger side door complete unit so I decided to check if the top cable was the same length and voila! door was fixed using that cable. I still had to order the top cable for that door but at least I could open the door until I received it.
    Hope this helps some of you that need to change the cables and please, do not waste your $$ on those metal ends unless you know for sure they will fit with your van year. I bought some and none worked. They all would have needed to be modified and from what I have read online, it has happened to others also. The original cables are not that expensive on Ebay.

    Watched the latch removal part of your video 3-4 times, went out there and got the job done in < 10 minutes. Many thanks for your efforts. 2003 E-150 Chateau. JT601

    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I spent a long time trying to reach up inside the door to disconnect the linkages. No luck. NOT ONE OTHER video mentions the solenoid mounting and how to pop it out. 30 seconds after watching your video I had it out. 73! Tip to others, if your problem is just the cables, don't mess around with the Dorman replacement ends. The cables are either already stretched or will get stretched and you end up pulling so much to open the doors you bend or break the metal tabs on the levers/latches. Instead get the cables as a set online for around $15 and replace both. Opens like new and good for another 20 years.

    Thanks for the video. Yours was the best for my 99 e-150 van. I can now open the rear door again from the outside. 21 years from now when I have to fix it again it will only take me 1/4 the time now that I know how to do it.

    I got you aluminum ends for my cables did all the replacement took the latch out same way you did. Only problem is I'm not 100% sure if I have the steel ball in the right slot. I was able to get the inside latitude continue working but the outside wasn't working not sure if I'm putting ball in the right position on the latch. Or maybe the cable is just to stretched out to work but I'm not able to get it to work. Maybe you can point me to a video that shows someone attaching the little ball ends on the cable in the latch on where they go precisely.?

      Not sure without looking at it and I don't have that van anymore I would try Googling Googling it and see if you can find a parts breakdown picture

    I believe the torx drivers/ screws were initially created to keep diy repairman from being able to repair then they offered drivers at high price later. Just a way to make more money I believe.

  • @jimmyaber5920
    @jimmyaber5920 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The cables can be fixed with Dorman 926-111 cable ends. The plastic breaks and the repair is aluminum ends that slide over cable and onto cable housing. 11.99 at oreilly and 10.99 at autozone. one kit does one door. Supercab back doors or Econoline back doors.

      jimmy aber, they are crap those aluminum ends. I bought some and they don’t even fit. I’m not the only one saying that, others had the same issue. Buy the right one once on EBay and fix it the first time instead of the aggravation of messing with ends that might not work.

    I've tried to loosen the Econoline upper rear door striker . It attaches with 2 hexagonal screws. They've never been loose from the factory. They won't budge. Other than drilling them out, anybody have any tricks?

    • @RCindustry
      @RCindustry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You want me to take that hex socket you're using and smack it good with a hammer. Sometimes that will loosen up any kind of corrosion on the threads and then you can back it out

    Your audio was lost for a few minutes. Rock Auto used to be a source for me to get parts, especially AC-Delco. After going through the warranty process for a radiator I will not order anything from Rock Auto again; a sound beating is more preferable. A local purchase is more convenient and faster. On your next film I'd like to make a request to hear some Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Charlie Pride, or George Jones.

    You show exactly what everyone else shows, nobody shows the rod on how it connects to the lower key assembly that opens the door...
    And maybe keep it a little shorter, too much waste of time like my message.
    Hay but thanks anyway!
