My lawn is a hybrid Bermuda (don't ask me which one....), it's brown still, I've had a local lawn care company come in because I had a break out of Poa Annua. I've been using an electric on my zoysia but I'm headed to the store to get a Toro so I can cut lower. The grass has really thickened up so even at a higher setting it's too heavy for the electric. I put down a light application of 100% natural fertilizer here in central Texas to help recover from the freeze.

  • @kevolights
    @kevolights 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    ZOYSIA Q:
    Front Yard: St. Louis - warm season zoysia with fescue mixed in under shady areas.
    Back Yard: More shade, Zoysia in sun, fescue mixed in under trees. In
    The back yard is a little bare near the fescue tampered down from dog and foot traffic and a little bare with mud showing. Front yard the zoysia is dead and brittle in areas.
    Do you have a recommendation considering I've already put down Pre-Emergent? Should I hard rake the zoysia?
    Three weeks ago I put down a Hi-Yield Turf & Ornametnal weed & grass stopper with Dimension. I'm close to mowing as it's 12.5 hours of sunshine. I would prefer to keep the zoysia more than the fescue.
    Thank you!

  • @vuchaser99
    @vuchaser99 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a great hidden gem in the start of the Zoysia section here about DIY. Why you should do it instead of contracting out to a company. You will put the effort in, that that company will not... they dash and dart to all their lawns they manage. Unless you are in their face to be there to do twice the work... DIY!!! That is why I gave up with my company... they took my money kept it ok, but crabgrass and clover and and and... it looks terrible for cost I pay them. So wish me luck!! I am in transition, Marlyand... I want Zoysia, but have a bit too much shade that I will still have shade grasses that are more winter style. I am actually not worried about the "transition line" look... it looks better than hodgepodge clover, crab and onion grasses.

    I can see how potassium can be all around but wouldn't the potassium still need the Nitergeon and phosphorous to be help be all around? Potassium on its own wouldn't promote a lot of new growth.

    Hey Allyn, Empire zoysia, Ft.Lauderdale here
    Love the stress blend and I am on the Flagship now. Bought a EZ Flow 2005 after seeing the older video. Wish you would do another one with the math on it. Also , lock Brett in his office when filming, that sneaky bastard 🤣

    I’ve just moved into a new house and the backyard(Mostly St Augustine and some Bermuda) is COVERED in crabgrass. Is it necessary to pull what I can and then apply prodiamine or can I mow everything down and then apply?

    In Central Arkansas, had a lot of chickweed, dandelion, henbit and bittercress shoot up after the snow. Maybe I needed more winter pre-emergent (4 lbs per 1000 of dithiopyr in September)? Anyway, what’s the best way to attack it on my Bermuda lawn now? I’ve already thrown down prodiamine. I was considering a blanket application of post-emergent but wasn’t sure about the timing with the Bermuda coming out of dormancy soon?

      best to let it get growing a bit, then use some post emergent - Celsius is what I would recommend. And next season, a second app of pre-emergent in January may be a good idea since your weed pressure is so high.

    Pleaseee Texas! I am waiting before I put anything down in the yard. Also can we use post emergent and pre emergent at the same time?

    • @JM-yx1lm
      @JM-yx1lm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why wait to put anything down? There's things that already need to be applied now.

    • @mizfizwiz
      @mizfizwiz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JM-yx1lm I m new to this so the last thing I would wanna do is further kill my already dormant/dead grass, hence the wait.

    So that looks like the kind of grass I have (at the church) So this type of grass needs to be cut low? I watched a video on your yard which looks to have different grass and you said you keep it long, with the mower all the way up. Oh and I got some some milogranite today. Newbie here. I used Scotts Turf builder weed and feed about 2 weeks ago and purchased a drop feeder (front and back lawns about 4k sq feet together). The was not calibration marker on the bottom so I went with the stock setting and it turned out to be too much. So I have been watering it alot now. This only happened on the front yard. On the back yard I saw what happened and lowered the setting on the dropper. So how long before I can add the milograntie? Plus I think I have the same probrem with with the brown legs. As I understand it, the only solution is to keep that kind of crass cut really short? Thanks! Love the channel. You have like. phd in lawn care.
