    Rustem hears the chaos in the palace and goes to his daughter's room panicking. Humasah isn't in her room. As Mihrimah mourns for her daughter, Hurrem goes to ask for an explanation from Sultana Sah. Sultana Sah gets shocked and gets determined to keep Nigar silent.
    Rustem looks for his daughter in the whole capital and learns that Nigar has kidnapped her. The circle tightens and Nigar gets cornered. The showdown between Rustem and Nigar ends in a shocking way.
    Hurrem gets deterimined to send Mehmet to Manisa Sanjak. Rustem not only sets a new trap to provide Mustafa to be relegated but also tries to provide Lutfi Pasha to be disfavored. He provides a rumor about Rustem Pasha to be spread.
    His doubts about Mustafa prey on his mind. Meanwhile, Prince Mustafa thinks he has lost his value for his father. He gets relieved with his brother's news about sanjak but he falls into Rustem's trap.
    Lutfi Pasha continues to his raids and punishes a prostitute heavily. When Sultana Sah learns about this punishment, they have an argument. Lutfi Pasha makes a deadly mistale while he gets defeated by his rage. Meanwhile, Suleiman makes a decision about Mustafa which is the begining of the end.
    At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
    The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
    As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

      It was a subconscious product of Suleiman's very real fears for his family...as he had expressed to Bali Bay. He knew that if Mustafa got the throne Hurrem and his other children would definitely be killed. Suleiman knew Mahidevran definitely would privately arrange to have them all killed even if Mustafa publicly spared them. Mustafa was way too much of a mama's boy to see her plots or punish her if she had gotten caught ..thus it would be Mustafa with their blood on his hands too. Notice his reactions seeing Mihrimah and Hurrem were far worse...because as women who had no claim at all to the throne their deaths were not within the fratricide law as sadly would be expected as his son's fates. Hurrem without son's would hold no power at all and would be totally at the mercy of Mustafa and Mahidevran. Mihrimah because of Mahidevran as Valide would only have been a Sultana with high status and respect but no real political power under her half brothers regime much like her aunts under her father ..unlike the major power she had as acting but untitled Valide under her father and brother Selim. Their deaths would just be Mahidevran typically being purely vengeful , spiteful and highly abusive in her power. This fear was only the beginning of Suleiman's doubts about Mustafa's rising to power that ultimately caused him to execute him.

    Whatever anyone says, Suleiman's life was the most difficult among all the characters.
    He had go through so much and fate had him at the point where he killed almost all of his sons, his best friend and his sister's husbands, lost her wife he loved more than anything and he had to live with all of this sorrow till he died from old age.

    • @JrsBoatRocker
      @JrsBoatRocker ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Bali Bey & Süleyman relationship is a great contrast to Ibrahim & Süleyman relationship. Bali Bey has never wanted power for himself and that shows in how he stays above the drama of the harem. Granted, his upbringing was a lot more privileged than Pargali’s, but he never grasped for power EVER. No matter how big the opportunity. Pargali’s insecurity about his own background made him grasp for power in ways that naturally went against Süleyman wishes. Bali Bey stayed loyal to Süleyman & the dynasty by staying above the drama.

      @@JrsBoatRockerit is said that Bali bey and sultan suleyman were cousins. Bali beys mother was sultan suleymans aunty (father’s sister). I guess that could play into the respect and affection Bali bey had for suleyman.

    • @patrickmartin6449
      @patrickmartin6449 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JrsBoatRocker I can respect someone who is willing to put his duty and his own morality above his own personal ambitions and grudges. Bali Bey's has distinguished himself throughout the show as a level-headed, calm, collected, talented, experienced, and, above all else, wise and honest character, which gave him the foresight and humility to, while serving the Sultan and the empire to the best of his ability, also recognizing his own limitations and accepting his place in the world, which, as you said, shielded him, for the most part, from the intrigues and intricacies of life at the imperial court.
      Furthermore, I believe that it was also the tragedies, as well as the other harsh experiences he had throughout the show that perhaps showed him that there is more to life than just power, glory, fame, and fortune. Furthermore, his decision to leave the palace towards hopefully better pastures reflects a sense of wisdom and foresight to leave the dangerous life at the imperial court behind, probably knowing that once Hurrem was brought back to the palace, the shadow war in the harem would continue.
      To put an end to this, out of all the men in Magnificent Century, while he has his own faults, I would like to say he is the one I have the most respect for.

He has his harem as it is required - oh, he loves pleasure, bad bad boy. At the same time Suleyman and Mustafa f* around even with women not from their harems - who cares? Selim builds watering system in the city with his own money (where the two brothers before did not even think about it) - still bad bad boy.

      The rule of fratricide is in place. Suleyman isn' t so naive to beleave that Mustafa realy could ignore that. Politics and Mustafas followers would have taken care of that. Notice how the sultan only dreams about and cares for Hurrem and her sons? He doesn't dream of other women. Notice how he dreams that Mishima is also killed. That wouldn't be necessary to gain or keep the throne. He knew that Mahidevran would kill her and Hurrem too so she could spite Hurrem and him and erase Hurrem completely. His mind was already turning to rationalizing killing Mustafa to save the others. Memet was extraordinary in real life with the love of the people as well. He would have been jis choice which is why Mahidevran had him killed. The sultan wasnt supid. He most likely knew who did it.

      Murad said the same thing in the Kosem sequel. But because he was manipulated by multiple people, including Kosem herself, he broke that promise. Whose to say Mustafa would eventually be manipulated by Mahidevran and others to do the same?

      @@TimberlakeTigerGirl I don't think the situations are too different to compare. Mahideverhan loved Mustafa more than anything. So she would never have murdered Mustafa's wife & best friend or ordered his doctor to give him the wrong medicine or attempted to dethrone him. Whereas Kosem seemed to love Kasim & power a lot more than Murad so she did all those dreadful things to him which caused Murad to execute Kasim. And Mustafa would never have ordered one of his brothers to execute a woman they loved. Whereas Murad ordered Bayezid to execute Kalika Hatun which I think caused Bayezid to betray him.

      @@caeliknight Mahideverhan often couldn't get Mustafa to do what she wanted. For example she couldn't stop him from marrying Mihrunnisa or from answering the summons to attend on Suleyman where he was executed. Yes, Mustafa made mistakes but his conscience & his sense of justice was outstanding as was his love for his siblings.

      The rule of fratricide was a constant poison, eating away trust between siblings. Mustafa might have tried to spare his brothers, but politics, army and his own mother would have removed every " competition ", only Cihangir left.

    The sad thing is that in that time and culture until he attacked Shah what Hurrem said about the consequences of Lutfi's horrifically brutal and unlawful punishment to the prostitute was accurate . It would have been swept under the rug and the scandal eventually forgotten because of Shah. Suleiman was furious about Lutfi's shockingly vile abuse of his power and the disgrace it brought to their family but likely (as he did here later ) would have bent to the pleading of his sister. It still would have seriously weakened his and thus Shah's power enough for Hurrem and Rustem to eventually be able to topple him. That is why Shah was so furious with Lutfi . His big mistake was that in his egotistical male arrogance he forgot that this time the woman he was dealing with was not a lowly commoner who he could treat or punish anyway he wanted in his anger...she was a Sutana who was the one that actually held the power he had been granted....and she could take it away.

    Because absolute power corrupts absolutely, the sultan failed to realize this and dole out power to more people. The sole exception was his harem. A harem breeds this. Love is love between two, or it gets ugly. He failed to ter down the system that caused the disharmony. Without the hate, ego, and spite, their lives would have been happier and longer. Imagine if you got mad at your wife and sending her away under house arrest from her kids today while having the ability to sleep with hundreds of other women and possibly a hundred plus kids that you probably spent no time with nor provided much to them. Never gonna happen in the US. No womn would put up with it.

      I think I read that in order for a woman to divorce, she must present evidence and have 2 men in her family to agree with her. They then will request a hearing. The council will decide if there is a valid reason to divorce. However, it is seldom ever done because most cases like infidelity, beating, etc, don't hold the man accountable as it is their right as a man. I believe that is the religion, not the law, though. Many times, the males side ith the husband, and they either get punished or the man counter sues and the woman is executed. But as she is the Sultan's sister, her rules are different because he is always below her. The Sultan wonders about the people around him.... when he fell for Hurrem and had true love, the others hated it. They feared they would lose power. Hurrem acted over and over to save herself and her kids. He kept letting the people who hurt them off. Gret love, great responsiblity.
