Texas has played a light schedule. If they beat Georgia, then yeah the praise is warranted. At that point we can say they’re “running the conference”. But not after beating OU and MSU

OU did dominate Texas during the Strong and Herman eras when Texas was down - 2-5 OU advantage. Anwar's argument is that OU appears to be going through its own "down" era that could last a while. He talked about the last 3 games, which is a 2-1 Texas advantage with a scoring differential that's astronomical. That's recent history with an eye toward the future - what happens if Texas runs off 5 in a row? That's bad news for OU who relies on Texas for recruiting. If the worm has turned, and Venables isn't the guy you want him to be, you might look up and realize it's a 4-1 Texas advantage, which can quickly become 8-2. OU has enjoyed great coaching stability with Stoops into Reiley, but don't forget the 80s and 90s. A couple of wrong hires and you can hurt a program for a long long time.
