His wife Linda Lee Cadwell has said that this was her favorite Bruce Lee movie. She said the character Tang Lung was in her opinion the closest depiction of her husband in real life in any of his movies (not counting all the movies Bruce Lee was in as a top child actor in Hong Kong}.

This movie showcased 4 worlds renowned Masters. A hapkido Master Hwang In-Shik, World newly crowned world kickboxing champion Bob Wall (because Chuck Norris retired), Chuck Norris retired world champion, and JKD founder and Martial arts phenomenon Bruce Lee. All publicly admitted How much better Bruce was than anyone they had ever seen, but Chuck Norris in some later interviews made it sound as if he was better. Chuck Norris spoke to a group of 2 dozen JKD students in Miami, FL who did demonstrations to promote his movie Sidekick. He spoke for over 40 minutes at how incredible Bruce was in speed, strength and martial knowledge. This honesty and grace is the Martial Arts Master Chuck Norris I choose to remember, not the one who may have felt pressure to preserve his brand, but a true man's man who spoke the truth to a group of martial arts beginners that like him admired the martial arts and his friend.

Where did you get the idea they were really sparring? Every move was choreographed by Bruce and rehearsed. At first, Tang Lung is losing because he is fighting in a strict classical manner. It's not until he gets loose, starts using footwork and spontaneity that he gets the upper hand. At one point, Colt (Chuck's character) misunderstands and starts bouncing up and down for a few seconds before getting trashed.

Nobody saying he broke Chuck’s arm and leg for real? it is common knowledge in the Bruce Lee world, that they lightly sparred during this fight scene. You do know what sparring means don’t you? @@jakecollins4545 *lol* Mike Tyson in 1972 get your timeline right, will you? When mentioning the greatest you should mention Muhammad Ali! 😛
But there I would have no doubt at all Bruce Lee was faster than Muhammad Ali! But either way it would have been very unfair because legs are not allowed in boxing therefore Ali would have had a disadvantage! In this movie we saw some scenes in time lapse because Bruce Lee (as the reaction illustrated) was simply to quick for the human eye!
Well, you do not seem to understand much of filming. Of course it was scripted. Nobody told something else here. But nevertheless those scenes were rehearsed in sparings! And then they even needed several takes. And listen to what Cynthia Rothrock told about Hong Kong movies. They fight hand to hand - the more realistic the better - not like in Hollywood! 😛

You're missing a lot of the humor and plot details because everyone's voices were dubbed into English. The point is that Tang Lung did not speak Italian. He is frequently asking his co-workers and Miss Chen to translate for him. The whole slapstick at the beginning in the restaurant is that he can't read the menu or order, so he points ans ends up with a tray full of soup. No wonder he needed the bathroom.

In _Fist of Fury_ he did the famous line "Let me take care of him" that Petrov (Robert Baker) said before the Lee/Baker fight that happened just afterwards, whilst in _Way of the Dragon_ he provided the voice of the gangster who asked for "Chinese spare-rib" when pretending to be a customer at the Chinese restaurant.

I am glad that I just happened to catch this video. I am a fan, but not a mega fan. As a fan I can tell you that Enter the Dragon was his most famous and popular. He died after making that movie. The movie the way of the Dragon was just before Enter the Dragon. Now, an interesting fact. Bruce Lee was making the Game of Death movie in between these two movies. So, he never got to finish the movie. hollywood found out the movie and created their own version using a copy of Bruce Lee. In the movie that hollywood showed. Bruce Lee only played to parts out of the whole movie. The beginning of the movie showing Bruce fighting Chuck in the Coliseum in The Way of the Dragon. Now, that will get you attention. Now, of course that will get your attention in the beginning of the movie. But after that fighting seen then you see the fake. That is what many people did not like. Now, their is a tv serious out there that talks about Bruce Lee's life. I can't tell you how true it is, but I feel that it is really close. It is called, the Legend of Bruce Lee. I have watched several times on Netflix. Now, if they still have it, you need to check it out. They show his whole life starting from high school. It is very long, like 50 to 60 episodes. There is one down fall, you have to read the subtitles. It is all in Mandurian. I hope that this help all of you Bruce Lee fans. Even the Mega fans, who probably know all of the already. GOD bless you all. Please forgive, if you did not know, everything was ad live. So, like you said, Bruce Lee did not speak English.

The reason why Bruce's character felt sad at the death of Chuck's was because he felt his opponent was a true warrior and martial artist. Bruce is my man.! I learn now Pankration and at times in future I want Wushu or Whin - Chun, or Tai Chi ... are so great arts. Bruce is the number one warrior. Bruce is my idol.
And Jackie Chan as the Drunken Monkey Master. So damn top one.
Greek Pankration , connects me to all of them.

I had the privilege to be at I.M.B. Academy the night before the release of Dragon the Bruce Lee Story and while some of Richard Bustillo's students went over a demo they would do for the star on the walk of fame for Bruce, Taki Kimura, Ted Wong & Richard Bustillo were in a huddle talking. I, being nosy, got closer to hear them talk in hopes to soak in some of their knowledge. Ted was saying that Bruce told him that he felt that a warrior like Chuck would not give up but fight to the end (truth in combat) so he had to take the fight to death and show the extreme respect that a fighter of Chuck's status deserved. Ted then with a weird grin as if duplicating Bruce's behavior, said but I would never tell Chuck that or it might get to his head then Bruce slapped Ted in chest jokingly, but it hurt like hell Ted said as they all chuckled nodding their heads saying, yep it always hurt, but I still miss Sijo.

Agreed; if only because in this movie, he is the star. In ETD, he actually shares head credits and major role with John Saxon, who's character has all the intrigue, most of the interactions, the plot, even the girl. Lee is only in there to fight and barely speaks (in the theatrical release, there was no philosophical discussion scene with the old monk). Obviously, Hollywood still didn't think an Asian star, even of his caliber, could lead an American film. History would prove them wrong... alas, too late.
And the fight scenes in this one are way better. In ETD, there are a lot of repeat shots of the same moves, moves are rarely if ever as original, way less complex (almost all one shot blows), barely anything happens in the final mirror hall battle and the nunchuk scene is a repeated shot of a few seconds and over after 3 hits. Quite disapointing.

There was no single fight scene "in real life." This sequence was filmed repeatedly in bits and pieces and edited together. They didn't actually go the whole sequence from start to finish. Movies aren't made that way.

No, I don't think that's the point Bruce was making. The character Tang Lung was taking hits and getting knocked down because he was sticking to classical Chinese kung fu. Once he started moving around with fluid footwork and being adaptable. he got the upper hand. That's pretty clear.

@@drhermes1141 sounds about right. bonus message. I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God cannot stand one iota of sin in His presence, because He is holy. so God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps:
      1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost.
      2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell).
      3. believe that Jesus (who is God in the flesh) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins.
      4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven
(nor a combination of faith and your self-righteous works).
      5. pray to God NOW that you're following these steps because if you die before making this decision, it's too late, and you'll 🔥🔥😰

I read an article that said Bruce's first choice was karate champion Joe Lewis. But Joe turned Bruce down. The gossip from the grapevine said that the reason Joe turned down the part is because he thought it was ridiculous of him to be in a film where he gets beat up by some little Chinese guy.
I'm sure he regretted that decision, even to the day he passed away (Joe passed away just a few years ago from cancer....R.I.P.)....because Joe would be famous now and Chuck would be unknown today.

I'd suggest reacting to a video on TH-cam about "proof that Bruce Lee was superhuman", so see him in comparison to other martial artists. There's also another one that shows some of his moves in slow motion, where you see little feints that are just a blur at his speed. What looks like a fast kick, is actually a feint with one hand, a strike with the other, and THEN the fast kick. He was the OG master for good reason.
