- We are road tripping UP the California Pacific Coast Highway in our 2013 Ford Transit Connect micro camper van and have stopped at the Redwood National and State Parks to explore!
The park system includes one National Park, the Redwood National Park, and three state parks, Del Norte Coast, Jedediah Smith, and Prairie Creek State Park. We were fortunate enough to get permits for two must do hikes, The Tall Trees Grove Trail and Fern Canyon! We could not believe the sights along both. It was really neat to be hiking along a filming location for Jurassic Park! Before leaving, we also stopped by Stout which has the world's most scenic stand of redwoods.
Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it!

Fern Canyon is almost mystical! Thanks for taking us along!
You are right! It really is! Thank you for watching and following along in our journey, it means a lot to us 😊
I believe. I believe. Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure. Great music too.
Thank you for the kind words and for watching, we really appreciate it!
I Camped somewhere near Humboldt, it was incredible the feel you get just being in the Redwoods, quiet and serene. I was out sitting in back of the camper at midnight it total darkness, having a beer and thought: "If I'm out here other animals could be out here too! "Time to get back in the camper" LOL. I'm with Mike re wet feet... Just remember if you're off the pavement if it gets inclement head back out. You may get stranded and recovery is flippen expensive. Good video! I will refrain from suggestions in OR as you seem to be past them by the time the video is released. Bigfoot, Hmmm maybe riding the Loch ness Monster would be cool, sorry Urban Legends along with UFOs, I did see the Phoenix lights a few years ago. Safe Travels!
Hello 👋 My very favourite drive & forests... made the drive from Vancouver Island BC on the west coast of 🇨🇦 Canada all the way to the Baja Peninsula North Mexico 4 times 😀...1st time in my twenties my bf & I drove down in my 🚗 VW Bug .... try sleeping in the back of that! 😊 thanks for taking me there again in my seventies!!
Hugs Valerie ❤

Wow! That is an impressive road trip! We are so envious! We would love to do that drive! Thank you so much for the travel inspiration and for watching, we really appreciate it 😊
Thank you for taking us along on these hikes…fern park looks so peaceful! I was hoping for a Bigfoot sighting!
We were too! Thank you so much for watching, we really do appreciate it and you!
How could you not believe.
Right?! I (Heather) believes, Mike needs a little more convincing haha
Such a beautiful place!
You are right! It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been to! Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it 😊
Very cool. I'm sure there is a Bigfoot somewhere out there :)
I'm in Florida but got to see some of this myself last summer on my month long west coast travel. Yosemite is absolutely beautiful and Redwoods are so big and tall. All California parks are beautiful and magnificent.
Wow, Florida to California?! That sounds like an awesome trip! You are right, the California parks are absolutely beautiful and magnificent 😊 Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it!
banana slug = mascot of UC Santa Cruz.
That is too funny! We just looked up their mascot, Sammy the Slug- too cool! Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it :)
Love those big, beautiful trees!!!
Big foot? Let’s just say I’m keeping an open mind. 😉
✌🏻💕
We love the trees too 😊 Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it! Sad to report we did not find any Big Foot... yet... haha
Of course Big Foot exists-I thankfully have never seen one. But I have seen a football field size UFO over I75 in Fort Myers Florida. Safe travels 🙏
We haven't seen Big Foot either.... yet... haha
Thank you for watching, we really do appreciate it!
So you need a permit? How does that work -id it costly? I would love to see it redwood tree. My grandmother sent me a postcard of vehicles driving through a living tree when I was just a kid. Thanks y'all. Oh-are dogs allowed in Redwood loop? LOL. Noooo!! 💋
If we remember correctly the permit was free, we just had to go online and fill out a form and select a time that we wanted to go. Several of the slots fill up fast because they are such popular hikes! You are right, like most National Parks, unfortunately no dogs were allowed on the hikes.
The tree on the postcard from your grandmother still exists! They don't let cars drive through it anymore because cars are so much larger nowadays and would not fit but you can walk through it 😊
Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it!
Don't worry Heather, I am team "Soaked Feet." In fact, whenever I buy a new pair of hiking boots, the first thing I do is get them soaked, and hike around in them until they dry. Helps to break them in and mold them to your feet.
Have you folks explored Watkins Glen back in New York? Watching your trip through Fern Canyon seems similar, in that you get a lot of nature and water in a fairly compact hike.
As a side note, back near "Hospital Rock" is an Indian reservation that also has pictographs. What makes them notable is their depiction of what many people believe is a bigfoot family. They are huge! check the 20 minute mark of the following video.

Love it! Team soaked feet haha
YES! We have hiked in the Watkins Glen area and the Finger Lakes region in New York many times. You are right, it does have similar vibes 😊
Thank you for the link/information, that is too cool! Thank you also for watching, we really do appreciate it!
Bigfoot is ALWAYS the goal!!! 😁
Unfortunately we haven't found Big Foot... yet... haha
Thank you so much for watching!
