1976, 1960, 1992… People keep arguing about who the greatest Olympic boxing team is, but let’s be real-the 1984 team set the bar so high it’s almost untouchable. If you still think any other team comes close, drop your reasoning below-I’m ready for the debate. Don’t forget to hit subscribe if you’re here for real boxing talk & Documentaries! Thanks for your support!
1976 was better. Less medals but the 1984 team didn’t have to compete against the eastern bloc countries, who traditionally take the games very seriously. Let’s be honest, if Stevenson is fighting at super heavy, Biggs doesn’t win the gold.
We can't claim to be the best because the best wasn't there.Everyone knows the Russians and Cubans own the U.S. in Olympic boxing. If I remember correctly Stevenson from Cuba K.O.ed Biggs and then he beat him up a second time like he stole something. Had Stevenson showed up he'd done the same to Bigs again
A fab boxing post. Some boxing fans might dispute this team as being the best Olympic boxing team ever. I say a big thank you to the boxing fan who posted this fab info. Always remember, you can please some of the people some of the time but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Plus theirs a great old boxing movie available on you tube called , the harder they fall starring Humphrey Bogart jersey Joe Walcott and max Baer . It’s a knockout .
They were lucky that Cuba and the USSR boycotted the 1984 Olympics. During this period, Cuba was invincible in boxing. They won 7 gold out of 12 available at the 1992 Olympics
Fair point, I did mix that up-he was definitely a light heavyweight. But let’s not pretend one slip-up erases everything else I said. Unfortunately we can’t criticize your work because you don’t have anything posted… Appreciate the fact-check, though!
Firstly that's an interesting picture. I can tell that most of the people commenting on this subject we're not there. Secondly how can you show a picture of four gold medalist and there were nine gold medalists. Holyfield won a bronze medal so he shouldn't even be in that picture. We had one silver medalist on that team Virgil hill. So now school is in session: Steve McCrory (younger brother of Welterweight Champion Milton McCrory,) Paul Gonzales, jerry page, frank tate and Henry tillman are the other five gold medal winners in the 1984 Olympics. Biggs who was a gold medalist interestingly enough beat Lennox Lewis in the quarterfinals of the 84 Olympics. Whitaker, Tate, Breland Holyfield, Taylor and Hill all became world champions. Y'all need to talk to some of the G's that were there like myself.
Really yo check this out I can hit you with the information of how every one of them made the team and who they had to fight to make the team. The fuck are you talkin about. Anybody can get that fuckin information that you just posted.
Good afternoon. This presentation is for casuals not hardcore boxing fans. Any real boxing fan would agree the 1976 team was better by far. It is not even close.
Afternoon! While the ‘76 team was legendary, saying it’s ‘not even close’ feels like a reach. The 1984 team not only won more gold medals but also produced more professional champions. Are we really going to act like that doesn’t matter to real boxing fans?
No Cuba, No Soviet Union, no Eastern Bloc. Wasn't a legitimate Olympics especially in Boxing.. In a legitimate games, maybe Whitaker wins gold. He's the only one.
MY ASS CUBAN AND SOVIET UNUION WASN'T EVEN IN THE GAMES NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THEM, BUT IT IS A HUDGE DEAL WHY BECAUSE CUBA AND SOVIET UNION WAS THAT GOOD AT AMATURE BOXING. FAIR BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T COMPETE IN THE 1980 OLYMPICS BUT STILL GREAT TEAM BUT I THINK THE 76 TEAM WAS BETTER! THEY AT LEAST COMPEATED AGAINST CUBA AND SOVIET UNION!
Agree with you. I don't think Biggs would have won, the only ones for sure are Whitaker and Breland, the second one who had a dissapointing pro career. Possibly because of previous matches if the Soivet Union and Cuba had been there, is that Hollyfield might have fought someone different, and not got disqualified. Also the boxer who beat the Canadian, and Cossel told the American guy to his face that the Canadian was robbed.
@KnockoutNarratives real talk, Ray Leonard, The Spinks brothers, Howard Davis Jr. Fought them grown ass Men. And whooped them. 88 team was good. Bowe, Mercer, Jones Jr. Carbajal they threw down.
Nope. The 1976 team contained the 2nd best welterweight (e.g., Sugar Ray Leonard) and anywhere from the 2nd to the 5th best light heavyweight (e.g., Michael Spinks) in boxing history. The only boxing all-timer on the 1984 team is Pernell Whitaker. The 1976 team was so good that the winner of the best boxer award at the Olympic Games (e.g., Howard Davis) was the only member of the 1976 team NOT to win a professional boxing title.
That is not the best boxing team, If they didn’t fight Cuba like Ray Leonard, Mike and Leon Spinks, Howard Davis ,Leo Randolph. 1976 Team is the greatest
Utter nonsense, the US ‘76 team was better. The US ‘84 team benefited from the USSR and Cuban boycott. Except for Mark Breland who had already beaten the best, the other gold medalists are questionable.

Who were the 84 men's team and I will perhaps take that debate sir !✌️🥊🥊
Your right no debate 84. Sugar Ray and M.Spinks vs Evander ,Pernell, Taylor. 3 Goats over 2. IMO.✌️
We can't claim to be the best because the best wasn't there.Everyone knows the Russians and Cubans own the U.S. in Olympic boxing. If I remember correctly Stevenson from Cuba K.O.ed Biggs and then he beat him up a second time like he stole something. If the Cubans and Russians been there the U.S. would only won 3 gold and maby a silver
A true Dream Team! Nothing but legends
Absolutely!
holyfield was light heavy and virgil hill was middleweight at the 84 games
They all were great
Agreed
The 1952 team netted 5 gold medallist including future champion Floyd Patterson.
Great team as well
Wow
76 team was no joke!
Very true

Also the most ref and jury favourite in all time.😊

Thanks for watching! We appreciate that
Howard Davis Ray Leonard Mike Leon spinks
You’re saying all of those guys are better than the top 5 guys on the 1984 squad?
76 was better
Meldrick Taylor is my cousin. My grandma and his grandma are sisters. I cried when he got robbed fighting Chavez.
I did too and I ain’t e’em family. Grew watching him and some of the other men in this vid.
I damn near cried that evening! I felt horrible for him.
How is he doing now ?.
Wow that’s crazy.. maybe you can show him this video so he can relive some of his glory days .. how is he ?
Great Team no question but I have to say the 1976 Team was better imo the greatest U.S in history.
I agree!
That 76 team was incredible!
The 1984 team benefited from the Soviet boycott. The 1976 team was better.
They were equally good.
Debatable
Holyfield competed as a light heavyweight at the Olympics not as a middleweight. You should do your homework before posting.

Did you even watch the whole video? They speak on all of those warriors lol

What’s your problem with the video ? This is a tribute to all of the warriors on the 84 Olympic team. Why you have a problem?

Exactly
No Cuba, No Soviet Union, no Eastern Bloc. Wasn't a legitimate Olympics especially in Boxing.. In a legitimate games, maybe Whitaker wins gold. He's the only one.
Tough to say

Valid.. how many goals do you think they would’ve won at the 84 Olympics if Cuba and Soviet Union was there ?

Holyfield, Whitaker, Breland, and Taylor had already beaten the Soviets and Cuban fighters at the Pan Ams and World's. 🤦🏽
@@char-lee212 Thanks for that information.
Holyfield was not at the World's it was Ricky Womack .He was also at Pan Am. He went two and two vs Holyfield. @@char-lee212
😅
THEY DIDN'T FIGHT NO CUBANS!! 1976 WAS THE GREATEST 🇺🇸 BOXING TEAM EVER.
1952 team had 5 gold medallist including Floyd Patterson
Interesting
Cubians are overrated and dont do shit when they go pro 😂😂
‘ 76 team was better AND they had to fight the Cubans and Russians!
The 76 team fought Cubans, they were the best period. No disrespect to 84, but they would not have had has many Gold Medals.
Interesting

The '76 team was incredible, but it's all about perspective!
Winning gold in absence of Eastern Europe (Soviet Boxers) is being awarded for a bathroom fight.
●Those guys won against chicken.
Lol
That is not the best boxing team, If they didn’t fight Cuba like Ray Leonard, Mike and Leon Spinks, Howard Davis
,Leo Randolph. 1976 Team is the greatest
Damn I just wasted a minute to respond does somebody that uses a wrestling logo that don't know shit about boxing. WTF
Great but not better than 76. Breland was average and Biggs was a bum.
lol what about the others ? How many greats on the 76 team?
@@KnockoutNarratives SRL, Michael and Leon Spinks, Leo Randolph and Howard Davis Jr.
Julio Cesar Chavez Beat Meldrick Taylor Twice and Perrnal Whitaker

Bullshit, he lost the second fight with Taylor, who the saw get robbed. But lost the second and he was embarrassed by Sweetpea. Learn the Game.
