Putin inherited a lot of oligarchs from the Yeltin days. Oligarchs the country needed to bridge from a socio-commie economy after the Berlin Wall fell.
Putin kept some (as most rulers in similar circumstances would have done) + became 1 himself.
But he learned a lot from the pitfalls of corporate governance as prevailed in especcially the US + allowed oligarchs their money, but kept them firmly out of politics. So they spread their wings to other countries.
He also got rid of western corporations trying to manipulate Russian politics. He paid back what Russia owed western banks, kicked most of them out, got a warrant of arrest for Soros who apparently had dubious plans for the Russian economy, Brics was established with China as partner, developed Russian gas + oil, went for the Petro dollar + he started eroding the $ as international trade currency. The rest is history.
Abramowitch losing his club in Britain is more of a threat to ordinary Brits than it is to Russia it seems. While they're kept busy with the Harry vs the rest of the Windsors, property ownership in Britain took it's 1st dent. If the British gov can do it to Abramowitch, what prevents it from doing to the British ppl?
