World RECORD Bonnethead Shark! Catch Clean Cook (Sebastian Inlet, Florida)

  • This may have been a world record sized bonnethead shark! These sharks don't get very big and the world record was 28lbs, so this shark was very close if it didn't beat it! These sharks shouldn't be confused with hammerhead sharks which look very similar, but bonnethead sharks have much blunter heads. Sharks are delicious and have wonderful firm meat, but they must be gutted, bled and iced immediately! Hope you guys enjoy this shark catch clean cook!

we ate shark growing up... the texture is like the “steak” of fish, it isn’t flaky but it’s great when done right. (we use to do cross cut steaks on the grill)

back in 2000 my two sons and I went fishing in the Corpus Christi Bay ( we lived there at the time. We were fishig off a boat. My youngest son was 8 years old at the time and reeled in his line, the bait was gone. So I handed him my fishing pole and was putting new bait for his line.
He felt a tug on the pole I just handed him and reeled in a nice Bonnethead. He was so happy and excited! That was a great day. Cleaned it up right away and marinated in milk when we got home. I let him have the Bonnethead for himself. Would not have had it any other way.

Great video, I caught a three and a half foot bonnethead while fishing for pompano on Amelia Island here in NE Florida. I could not believe it as I was fishing with shrimp as bait. It was a heck of a fight as I was using 12 pound mono and a light weight rod and reel. Like a fool I let it go!!!

My favorite recipe for shark is grilled teriyaki kabobs with pineapple, bell pepper and cherry tomato chunks. Trick is to grill each ingredient on their own kabob so they cook evenly. Serve over white rice with extra sauce. Makes a great group meal on a pool deck or camping trip because it's so simple to cook and can be prepped in advance.
