This Panasonic SC board component repair kit includes all of the necessary components to repair
the common failures on this SC board. The symptoms repaired with this SC component
repair kit include: The TV will not turn on. The power light will blink 4, 5, 7 or 10 times.
The SC will also read a short at connector SC2. I will start by removing the components from
the board. I will use my heat gun to warm up the component and then remove it from the
board. After it is loose, I will use my tweezers or needle-nose pliers to remove the component
from the board. For time sake we have sped up the video, but we use the same process on these similar components.
For these smaller components, I will use the same process of heating up the component with my heat gun and then removing the component with my heat gun, once it is loose. Next, I will use my solder iron and solder wick to remove the excess solder and clean
up the pads on the board. I hold the wick on the pad and then apply pressure and heat with my solder iron onto the wick. The wick,
then sucks up the excess solder that is on the pad. As I use the wick, I will need to clip it and use a fresh piece every so often.
I will not use a brush and some rubbing alcohol to clean up the pads on the board. I will start by applying solder paste onto
the pads. After I have added some solder paste, I will then place each component in place.
I will use my heat gun to warm up the component and secure it to the board. After you see the solder paste bubble for a bit, you can
remove the heat and allow it to adhere to the board. Here we are showing a close-up of how to install a smaller component. In order to get the close-up, we could not use the tripod, so we apologize for the shaky image. For these larger components, we will use the
same process of applying solder paste onto the pads and then heat up the component using the heat gun. Here again we
will show a close up of soldering the two components. After I have soldered the components to the board, I will then again use my brush and rubbing alcohol to clean up around the components. We are now ready to re-install the board back into the TV. When re-installing your board, be sure to use the screws that are provided in your kit. These screws contain lock-washers
to help keep the board secured to the panel tightly. Thank you for watching one of our many tutorials here at ShopJimmy.com. We strive to learn and share new TV repair tips everyday. Replaced the parts, turned on the TV. *Fabulous* picture. Ran for a little over half an hour, then went and blew the new parts. This seems to happen to one of every two plasma TVs I fix. Why?

Great video and tips. I repaired the Y-SUS board (TNP A5335) a while back by replacing the six shorted 30F131 transistors. The TV (Panasonic TH-P55VT30A) worked fine for two days; on the third day, the TV made a loud pop sound and turned off. I found 3-4 replaced transistors on opening the back cover, and a few SMD resistors were fried. My troubleshooting experience suggested I replace all main SMD transistors (even if they are not faulty) with the above replacement parts. So, I purchased other bipolar transistors and diodes with the above component to replace all at the same time, but I got over-ambitious by not replacing all the components.
While researching, I found your video about the repair kit, which explains why the suggested parts should be replaced. Well, I have learned my lesson. However, I have a question. Please let me know what heating temperature (and durations in minutes) and airflow pressure should be applied while installing the new SMD transistors and resistors.

Great video. Here's an odd one though - same repair - 14 blinks. Nobody I talked to ever heard of 14 blinks, so I thought I would note that here. Same repair kit fixed it right up. The kit I got did not come with screws though. Is it the small screws that need the lock washers or the ones for the high voltage ? In the video, it looks like the grounding screws only came with the kit... and yes, I am sure I wasn't countin two sets of 7 blinks, it was 14, pause, repeat.

I just stared to work on my SC board and found a few more shorted parts such as D642, D643, and several resistors as well. Also, I seem to have a few shorted resistor on the power supply board and SU board as well. Does this sound like a common issue? I am having the 14 blink issue instead of aformentioned 4, 5, 6, and 10 blinks. I did a check for shorts per your other video and the SC board was the only board showing a short. Thanks for any opinion or advice.

How do you know which ones need replaced? I have this same board I need to either replace or buy the kit, but I can't figure out which ones I would need to replace when buying the kit. I've troubleshooted everything possible and I've narrowed it down to the right board, I just don't know how to repair.

Hey so followed the trouble shooting for the 14 blinks, found the sc2 shorted the. Went to tpsc1 no short, so it’s was the sc board, bought your parts kit installed it and it just burned out again any help

nice, should be helpful to many DIY now trying to get there TVs going with boards hard to get. What would be helpful is fault finding the board because buying a kit does not always ensure a 100% fix as there can be variations of failure. not everyone has Hot Air rework with a preheat either. How about a video using common soldering irons which is achievable.

Hello, I have the problem of the screen not coming on. I get 14 blinks, and the SC2 connector has a short. The tv stopped working after a power surge. There are no marks of burn on the SC board. Do you think this would be an appropriate fix under these circumstances? Thanks.

I've got a P50ST30 and had a 14 blink error. Went thru and tested for shorts as per your video and narrowed it down to the SC board. Shorted to ground on the input to the SC but not at TPSC1. Bought the repair kit for the SC board and installed the diodes, transistors, and resistors. TV turned on and worked for a short bit (5min) then went black. Turned it off and back on. Black screen then a popping sound. Now we're back to 14 blinks and the same short. Took off Q402 and the short went away. R402 also appears to be fried. Testing for continuity from ground to the emitters of the IGBTs I've got continuity, to the collector side I have continuity until I removed Q402 (lost continuity to Q403 collector) and then Q423 (lost continuity to Q422 collector). Any thoughts on what could be frying these IGBTs? Would love some help on this.

Hi, I have a Panasonic Viera th-42px75u. Turns on fine with a great picture but after a while, 5 to 10 min, anything black turns to red and becomes blotchy. Anything white turns blotchy green. I love fixing things myself but have limited knowledge about plasmas only what I have learned from watching your instructional videos. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks shopjimmy!!

Hi, I have a samsung le32c450. The red (standby) light blinks 6 times and then it turns itself off. I checked, all the capacitors are fine except the big one which is 100uf 450v. It is lying on the board and sticking with some white-ish glue. Can you please suggest what could be the problem? And how to take the big capacitor out when sticking with such soft glue.
    Thanks,

I have a Panasonic TC-P42S30 and last week replaced the SS (part # TNPA5350AD) board and repaired the SN board (part # TNPA5349) using the components in the repair kit. The TV powers on great now - but the image looks washed out or over-saturated. It is certainly possible that there is a bad solder connection in my rework - but I wanted to get feedback on the coloring issue. Would this issue be caused by the SN board or should I look somewhere else?

    • @shopjimmy
      @shopjimmy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

Andres Tamez Be sure to double check everything on the SN board, even the solder joints. You can also check the SS board for shorts. Thanks! www.shopjimmy.com

ShopJimmy.com Thank you for the quick reply. What do you specifically recommend to double check? I've checked there is no longer a short on Vc. Tonight I plan to reapply solder paste and make sure all the components solder correctly. Are there any other impedances or devices I should check? Any voltages I should measure at test points?

JacksJunkDotCom if you use a proper rework airflow gun, then no. its not an issue.
do NOT use a cheapo paint stripper gun, as many peeps on youtube suggest, you'll destroy the board if you do.

The components themselves are getting aged or the problem comes from the timing control board that drives Y and Z boards which are power stage boards.
