How to repair the Panasonic SN board TNPA5349 TXNSN1PKUU.
Involves replacing 4 transistors and 2 diodes as well as 4 resistors, ALL SURFACE MOUNT COMPONENTS.
Thanks for this great video and troubleshooting guide. This matched the issue I had and the root cause appeared to be loose ground screws which led to the solder points where the screws were wearing through and getting scorched. In addition to replacing the parts, I also applied fresh solder to the ground points surrounding the screws on the top and bottom of the board. If you have this same issue check the pads surrounding the screws, reflow them and add in some lock washers to ensure a good connection. I did use a $40 hot air station from ebay instead of the heat gun which made things very easy. Totally worth the cost. Total repair cost ~$55 including the hot air station.
Great video dear mate after a long wait. Hope we will get next uploads sooner. Please keep up your nice excellent work. Regards,
Thanks for the Great video & clear step by step instructions. Had check my board - faults exactly as you diagnose. Will try my luck to buy genuine parts.
I look forward to your videos because I learn cool ways to troubleshoot and replace components.
I have saved 3 LCD tvs from the trash that were ready to be disposed. Now I have a 19" for my son's room 32" used for gaming and a 42" for the bedroom.
Great video! Seems like you've done it quite few times! Great job!
Glad to see your making more videos. Thumbs up.
Excellent use of a heat gun, the do a stand up job in place of a reflow station...
Nice video, but even if i change all those stuffs,i still have a short circuit and still blown those diodes.Any idea?
Hey joe eat a sneakers I appreciate this videos, thanks for your tips and keep posting
Got the kit from Shop Jimmy and rechecked prior to reinstall for shorts and had none . Powered up the set and it blew out the new kit ... What else ?
Делает вид ремонта, меняет следствие, а не причину. ОГРОМНЫЙ не факт что все это заработает после включения телевизора.
Why would the resistors need replacing out of interest? I have the issue but some sellers only sell the active components in their repair kits.
GREAT VIDEO!!!!! THANK YOU.. KEEP EM COMING!!!! BEST VIDS ON TH-cam!!!!
Top Videos keep up the good work.
Happy New year From The U.K
Can i do the same job using a solder iron
So I replaced all those components and I still have a short. In the shop Jimmy kit there was also a D481 and a Q441 part, should I try and replace those also. What else could create the short on SN2 connector?
Acid-based plumbing flux instead of rosin-based electronics flux? I wouldn't use that on PCBs, there's always some residue left behind even with water-soluable which is highly corrosive to the board and components. You can get electronics flux in syringe or pen at any electronics store, even Radio Shack. Much safer for the board.
I have tested this flux on a single copper sheet sitting for several weeks and could see no corrosion even with a microscope. I have tried several different fluxes intended for electronics use and never had as good of results as with this cheap flux. Thank you for your concern.
norcal715 it's about years not weeks. In this case the tv will probably die or owner will break the screen before effects of acid flux will kill the board.
But anyone who wants a long-term reliable repair should not use plumber's flux. 10 million electronics technicians can't be wrong...

As an electronics technician myself, I can verify this is true. It's not just about weeks versus years, we're also talking about something that heats up, and chemical reactions occur faster when heated. Also, you run a risk of damaging the board when you pull on components with pliers. The only thing holding that copper on there is a layer of epoxy, you really shouldn't be applying force to it.
I like that Heat Gun, it says Chicago on it.
I have a Samsung LN55C630K1FXZA. When I bought it it didnt power on at all. I replaced the backlight, the power board and still nothing. I replaced the main board and it now lights up but no picture.
Will this repair the 14 blink issue? I sent it off for repair to a guy on ebay that said they could repair the 14 blink issue and he changed these IBGT resistors and the smaller ones but the TV still showed 14 blinks after when I got it back. I did a check on some other IBGT resistors on the end of the board area and they are shorted. What else could be the issue here? The guy I sent it to for repair tried to fix it and said he isn't able to figure out the issue now but will let me know if they get a board in to replace this one, which I can purchase from him. Can you help?
Какое должно быть сопротивление на входе питания исправной платы?
Hi, what solder flux will you recommend, I'm struggling to find one that work for me I know you can help me with this issue. Thanks in advance.
Hector Rubio I use Amtech 559 flux, Its tacky so great for SM but great with any other application too. I have never had any issues with it
Excellent Tutoring
I have the same model TC-P42ST30 made Feb 2011. Initially I had 6 blink code. Then I ordered the kit in your video. After perfectly replacing the components I now have a solid no blink code. And If I hold the power button down for 5 seconds. It blinks 14. I am unsure if I fixed the SN board or not. Would you know maybe? or has anybody else seen my scenerio before?
+Adub 408 any idea what this turned out to be? i have no blinks, but if i hold down the button it blinks 14x as well... not sure i need to fiddle with the SN board or not...
+Farris Martini I am still stuck as I keep searching google and TH-cam for the information I need worth it's weight in gold. What ever happened to the good 'ol days when capacitor replacement was the popular fix. My 2011 Panasonic 3d Plasma TV looks basically Brand New but is completely worthless as I am unable to fix the darn thing......anybody
The question is why is a burned thes transistors
loose ground screws
No! The reason is the spatial time continuum :)))
just wish you exlained where you puy which resistor, otherwise awesome video
Hello. I was wondering if anyone knows the service menu default numbers for each of the options such as The horizonal and vertical and so forth please. I have a Sony FD Wega Trinitron kv-36fs120. The image is off and the top left of the image is slanted downwards. It seems as if the person that had giving it to me has messed up the picture and I just wanted to see if the default would set it back straight before I have to pay for a repair. Please anyone and thank you.
Mosfet Q600 can allso be bad
thanx...
Nice :D thx
a friend of mine send me this video and asked for my opinion.....
well i screamed at him
heatgun+PCB is a very good way to kill the entire board
nobody...really NOBODY should "repair" boards like this
please if you want to safe money buy the repair kit and take it to someone who actually learned to work with electronics
"Yep,killing off the tv repair man off one by one, keep making your videos and soon you will be out of work showing every DIYer how to do it,yep your smart all right..
You're joking, right?
I'd say norcal715 is helping us TV repairmen. It's only a small percentage of people who would try to do this repair on their own.
Grants Pass TV Repair Has joe bigtool been leaving negative comments on your videos also Dave? Some people just gotta hate!
Hey Steve, Good to hear from ya. I think it was the same person who left me negative comments about me sharing TV repair info, but his thinking is flawed. Only a small percentage of people would attempt to do a repair such as what your showing. Many repair techs including myself benefit from your videos.
norcal715 Steve, your videos are better than good. Troubleshooting tips go beyond TV service and can help in TS'ing other equipment.
Ignore the naysayers, just unhappy people. Most people who benefit from your help would either fix it themselves or send it to the recycler. No losss ro a repair shop...
Keep the great vids comin'!
How not to repair your TV... You should absolutely *not* be recommending the average person to take a heat gun to their board. Shocked that shopjimmy would sponsor you for such ignorance.
And you didn't even tell us if the TV worked after replacing the components! Many have stated their board popped and went short to ground immediately after turning on the TV post-repair with ShopJimmy's kit. Maybe it's because people are following the advice videos like this... At least you used flux, though.
it did repair the set
