    I will stick to my Xbox Series X/S controller. You are the only TH-camr I have seen that agrees that it is good. Everyone thinks I am silly for using it.

    Later models of the Razer Raion actually have a pivot, but they fixed it without saying anything so you will have a hard time getting the correct version.

    I am sick of controllers for fighting games because d-pad will wear out, i need to replace d-pad every 3/4 months, so for me i stick with official controllers like Playstation because you can find enough stock of d-pad rubber pieces
    No one in fighting game community talks about it, i mean the reviewer, they always claim: ''oh this controller is awesome/sucks for fighting game, d-pad is amazing/piece of shit''
    I know Frame Counting is great reviewer but maybe he should put a warning ''no matter how good/worst controllers are, d-pad are meant to wear out''
    Its same for joystick drift, i hate all those reviews screaming: ''Xbox Elite V2 is the best controller'', dudes, 160$ with drift joysticks are unacceptable
    There are unfamous controller like King Kong 2 Pro that use hall effect technology (aka no drift issues)
    I just hope next controllers use micro switches instead of rubber dome (yes Razer Raion is not very good fighting game controller and its shame they do not add a pivot for the dpad, apparently they fix it anonymously)
    PS: Frame Counting, if you are aware of controllers that dont use rubber underneath dpad, lemme know

    I really liked the Sega Genesis 6-button controller and the Japanese (or U.S. model 2) Sega Saturn d-pads, but it seems like the modern 1st party controllers don't match those in d-pad quality.

    I hated the Hori Fighting Commander Octa, a massive downgrade compared to previous Fight Pad models which are now impossible to get at a good price being out of production in favour of these awful controllers.
    There is a firmware fix for the diagonals, but as a heavy handed person i found the dpad to be just awful regardless, getting jump inputs or down back inputs at the wrong time. Wish they would revert back to what is currently the Switch model of the controller, which is fantastic.

    Im one of those, who does play on 8bitso Pro controller. My only issue is not d-pad's "roughness" on a surface, but diagonal missinputs. I hope that it's just my "skill issue".

    My experience with the Pro 2 hasn't good... the DPAD started wiggling inside the cutout within the first 3 months, the analogs developed drift while using only the DPAD lol. Many people praise the Pro 2 for its battery life but keep in mind the controller is running on 250hz and has around 20ms on input lag compared to 3ms on DS4.

    4:22 This is such a pain in the ass. Whenever I try to do low forward, fireball instead I would do dp in the opponents face then proceed to lose 50%….so annoying. At first I thought it was me but I realized I never had that problem with my ps4 pad

  • @TheMaDNiaC

    I got a DualSense which I bought back when I played Rocket League and my previous controller died. It is good for racing games too, I can say that. However I agree that it is shit for fighting games. At first I thought it was me being bad but then I heard about people having similar issues.
    Diagonal input issue is a big problem. On top of that, I feel that dpad is rather rough which makes my thumb hurt after extended playtime. Though I haven't used a lot of controllers and don't have a very educated comparison, I feel that the rest of the controller is quite good and I like the design. All my issues lie with the dpad.
    I'll just stick with my keyboard for SF6 then.

    I’m sorry but I have to disagree with your opinion about the Octa dpad. Once the firmware updated it works like a charm. I purchased the Xbox series after watching your video and I like it too. But the Octa is better for me.
    I have to admin that my Octa Xbox version dpad is better than my Octa PS5. I guess it’s a lottery at that stage but still a very good dpad.

    What controller do you think is the best? I've found the Pokken the best overall for years now, but I'd like something wireless and have been pretty dissappointed with my first-gen 8bitdo controllers that were using recycled 360 pads. I've heard some of the newer models are still able to get stuck and have accidental presses.
    I'd love a wireless Pokken controller with triggers and replaceable (AA/AAA?) batteries for the long-term.

    I concur on the Pro 2 G Classic. I used it a fair bit for platformers some may consider intense (say Hollow Knight) but there was no noticeable issue with it.
    Then came when I tried Tekken 7 and Skullgirls. When played Tekken 7, my left bumper came off from grazing against the controller too many times (probably an ergonomic thing but it broke clean off and I had to use plastic glue for it).
    I couldn't even open my controller up to do a repair. Maybe it was all that grime from sliding around (I have small hands so maybe its not ergonomic for me)
    Then, after playing Filia for only like 30 hours of using quarter circle inputs,, the D-Pad become pressed in to the point it 'clicks'. That itself hasn't been an issue but now it makes an all creaky kind of sound and feels mushy and really heavy to use, to the point I look at my left thumb and there is skin peeled off.
    Looking around for a new one, I probably am just going to go with the Dualshock 4. I do wonder if things would turn out better if I didn't get the G Classic but tbh I just feel its better to try something else.

    Honestly, d-pads are just poor design in general. We've learned that using separate buttons and separate fingers for directional inputs is superior. So lets apply what we've learned about button boxes to pads using PC software, and hope that pad manufacturers improve their controllers in the future so the PC software isn't required to fix it.

    I agree with everything you said, except for the 8bit Controller Pro 2.
    And I speak after testing all the pads in the video (thank you amazon).
    Hori and Razer the biggest disappointments, while surprisingly the 8bit controller was a pleasant discovery. I found that the cross-shaped dpad was the most suitable choice for my grip type, and the movement I make with my fingers.
    The best dpad I used was the one on the xbox series x controller, too bad it is positioned diagonally to the keys.
    As always it's a personal matter, I've been using the analogue stick for a long time to play games, and I played very well with it, so the only thing to do is to try out the pads.

    • @sarahbell180
      @sarahbell180 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the most important thing was the fact it was a G Classic, whose D-Pad differs slightly but noticeably from the other Pro 2, because of those 'grips' on the D-Pad.

  • @garycormack
    @garycormack 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Completely agree about the Hori Octa, the absolutely messed the D-pad up, one of the worst, diagonals are very bad to do, the problem is the central pivot is too small, so when you push it down too hard gou end up depressing more than one direction at once.
    Again agreed about the Razer .. it’s worse still, D-pad is a flabby loose mess, i actually dislike the actuation of the face buttons also, they have huge travel with an irritating mechanical click,
    I find it amazing that a lot of these controllers meant to be for fighting games fail so hard in key areas

    • @mxBug
      @mxBug 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mxBug I'll look into it if i ever mess around with it again, but for now it's one of the worst controllers I've ever used and that was after i updated the firmware to sort out the neutral tendencies when doing diagonals.
