what a tremendous facility, the sheer idea of a circle race track to run powerful roaring V8 race cars in what's effectively a 160k+ seated stadium is unparalleled and mind glowingly amazing.
It appears that someone, somewhere is holding out on a video of the first Bristol race. It sure looked like the entire race was filmed and oooooh how i would LOVE to see it. Hopefully the NASCAR you tube channel will release it, along with those Martisville and original Charlotte track races from the days of stock cars, real ones
I never really thought about the neck thing on the banks,, damn imagine cleetus mcfarland,, that dude like all neck and no body,, if he was racing back then he'd probably have to wear a real neck brace and chain the top of his helmet to the roof
They basically did try to buy it. If anyone is to blame for hurting the sport it's the Smith family. All the 1.5 mile tracks are largely their creation.
Daytona has become Disney Land. And, sadly Bristol has too. These race tracks have Become a mockery of once was. I've been to Daytona in 1994 and when I went back in 2001 and 2006. It was night and day. The old saying 'Things change'. Not really for the better unfortunately. The only Track Nascar hasn't really screwed up yet is Darlington. But, give them time and they will.
