"WOW" that was the absolute best narration of our sports news announcer; "Chris Aconomansky" ever !!! He was The man behind the sport; if you were interviewed by him, you were somebody.
The only reporter i know of that should have a statue erected in his honor. He was a BIG reason i took to various forms of Auto racing. I wish he was alive today so he could contribute to various facebook racing groups. If i could have a one hour lunch with sny man.....its christ first, Economacki a close second
There will never ever be a better man to know about Motorsports than Chris there is only one other guy that I could put in the same book with Chris and that would be Barney Hall Barney Hall would talk about NASCAR and you would know exactly what's going on over the radio because as far as I'm concerned the greatest radio announcer of all times will always be Barney Hall Chris is the greatest announcer on TV and if you if they ever put those two together wow that would be the greatest of all times I don't know if it ever happened but they are the two greatest of all times there will there is nobody better there will never be anybody better than those two you know Ken squire learn what he was doing as an announcer from Chris and all the guys from then on learn from Chris and Ken how to announce a NASCAR race or any type of racing Motorsports with those three gentlemen was the most exciting of all times there will never ever be a more exciting time than listening to the radio or or a TV broadcast when you could hear Chris or Ken or even Barney because those were the three icons of all times in Motorsports there is nobody better and there never will be a lot of guys have tried to do it I mean when they put Ned Jarrett and Benny Parsons together that was magic just like putting Chris and Ken together because they both understood they both knew what was going on about everything when it came to racing and these guys nowadays are nothing like those guys from back then they really don't understand how it is to explain things to an audience about Motorsports be Mike Joy knows a lot about Motorsports he grew up in it he learned from Ken and Chris also and even Barney but it seems like he's not passing his knowledge of the sport to the new guys that are coming in because nowadays all they're talking about is Toyota Toyota they're not talking about the sport they're not talking about the drivers they're not talking about anything all they're talking about is the stupid Toyota which in my opinion should not be in NASCAR because NASCAR is an American Sport and it should be only American-made cars and Toyota maybe made here but they're not from here which I mean the United States I have been a Nascar fan since 1965 I've seen all the great race from Richard Petty all the way down to Kevin Harvick there are drivers that were great their drivers that sucked but at least they got to drive I still watch Nascar now it's not as good as it was back in the'80s '90s and 2000s when the greatest sport was sponsored by the greatest sponsor in of all times Winston when that came into NASCAR it changed the sport it made it better everybody loved it everybody wanted to see it and then all of a sudden these idiots out there saying no more tobacco sponsor and that killed NASCAR yes it's still going but it's not as booming as it was when Winston was the sponsor look at look at him now they've got four sponsors Coca-Cola Xfinity Anheuser-Busch and Toyota which the only reason why the last sponsor is on there is because they are giving money to NASCAR big time that's the only reason why they're even in the sport but nobody really cares because we still get to watch the NASCAR but we have to deal with 7 Toyota and to be honest I wish they were gone because we don't need them but everybody's greedy now it's nothing like it was back in the day when we had Real Racing real drivers real sponsors and real cars this new car is the biggest piece of junk there is all it is is a Indy car with a NASCAR body on I mean you look at how many guys got hurt this year I mean there's a guy that had to retire because he got hurt so bad they don't care it seems like all NASCAR cares about right now is money and that's it They Don't Care About Us fans they don't care about the drivers all they care about is money
Chi's Economaki is as much a part of American auto racing as anyone who ever put one a helmet. My favorite story is when once he saw A.J. out walking a dirt track, and asked in so many words was A.J. looking for the best line etc. Foyt said "Naw' I can't take a shit in the morning without taking a good walk." Or something to that effect. If you ever hear it, it's pretty funny.
I can barely remember dad taking me to the Louisville Guard Armory when I was tiny. They were running midgets indoors. This would have been in the mid-fiftys.
He, Ken Squire, Ned Jarrett, Benny Parsons, and Bob Jenkins are absolute legends. Rick Allen, Allen Bestwick, and Mike Joy are not as good as them, but they're still awesome commentators regardless.
Rick Allen is unbearably annoying just like Jeff Burton and Steve Letarte. Dale Jr. Is okay. They need to get Bestwick to replace those Fuckers for the current NBC lineup. I can still tolerate Joy after all these years and decades now he has Bowyer, Larry Mac and sometimes Tony Stewart.

The Peerless "Green Dragon" (driven by Barney Oldfield from 1904 to 1906), "Whistling Billy" the White steam powered car, the Ross steamer that set records at Ormond Beach in 1905 are just a few of the many early cars developed specifically for racing.
