Not Star power... or Game Play The game was played like a normal hockey game... and a hockey game is never going to be a 10, it doesn't have the twists, turns, and drama like other sports.
You nailed it!! I’m from Boston. With all the Celtics and patriots championship. Including the 80’s Celtics. Inciting the Red Sox’s of 2004 (86 years). This is the greatest win ever!!! My favorite Olympic moment and might be my favorite sports moment ever!!!
@Gregory-sm9pf America was in a malaise. We hardly won any medals compared to USSR and Soviet Block countries. Soviets always bet us in most events at the Olympics. We were feeling terrible about our hostages being held so long in Iran. Jobs were hard to find. Interest rates were like 18%, mortgages unaffordable. We had just gone through our 2nd oil crisis of the decade, one in which you could only buy gas on certain days. Three Mile Island scared the country in 79 and we started to turn against nuclear energy, which was once thought of a good cleaner source of energy. Media more or less said America's greatness was in the past. If you lived in the 1970s, it felt like we were always losing. Large numbers of people would watch Olympics hoping for an American win since Soviet Block dominated most sport and they were our enemy in the world.. That game was so tense, so exciting and the way we came out on top gave the country a sense of victory, hope that we had not felt in a long time.
My roommate was the stick boy for the miracle team. He was 15. He has pictures of the players with autographs hanging up. He’s invited to all the anniversary parties and so on. He was actually shown as part of the ABC wide world of sports montage during the , “Thrill of Victory”, The Agony of Defeat”. I live close to Lake Placid, NY. Im there a lot. Good segment here with memories. He’s watching this on his phone now. Lol
Crazy talk. If the Miracle on Ice is not the greatest sporting event of all time it's Top 3 at least along with probably Ali vs Frazier III, when Jessie Owens got to stick it to Hitler personally at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin or maybe even Super Bowl LI's greatest comeback of all time... Nah, it's got to be the greatest because I have to consider those other events.
There should be four 10's there. I was young but I remember thinking how disappointed the country is going to be after we get smoked by not just a far superior team but the best team on the planet. The country was swept up by the run the US was on coming in but they just didn't understand; we had no chance. Greatest moment in sports history.
The greatest game ever. Which happened because of the most important game ever 13 days prior when the Soviets beat us 10-3 at MSG. We were star struck and got the living shit beat out of us. The fact we saw it first, it eliminated the aura and intimidation the 2nd go around. Had February 9th never happened, the Soviets would've wiped the floor twice with us on the 22nd
This should have been rated higher The Miracle On Ice is the greatest game and that’s coming from a Patriots fan who believes we have some games that could definitely be up there. Also Gotta get some more Celtics games up there and Red Sox and Bruins games.
The star power was probably a seven. The name is a 10 fs, and the stakes were probably 9.8 bc it was bigger than hockey, but it wasn’t the final so technically not the highest stakes possible. Gameplay was a 9.8
They need to do their own score on the game as well because it's so hard for people who played in them to not be humble. There's no way miracle on ice isn't the number one game they've done
Cmon ‘Miracle on Ice’ is 10 on the name… significance/stakes is easily a 10… star power is probably the lowest category and that’s easily still a 8 or 9, the soviets were stacked, one of the best hockey teams ever, and the USA was a bunch of college kids… gameplay is easily 9-9.5 because both teams played their hearts out.. one of the most memorable sports events ever
This seems insanely low to me, and I’m not even a hockey fan. But everyone alive at the time knew about it, while every sports fan, historian, and political scientist knows about it now. It had everything, David vs. Goliath, a proxy battle for the Cold War, legendary commentating, and national pride. The name should be a 10/10. Y’all need to amend the scoring system.
The name is a 10. Mr. Craig was being too humble. Honestly the stakes are a 10 when you consider the patriotic/geopolitical implications (Cold War). Honestly it’s probably the greatest game with a name in sports history.
@ I was 19 years old in 1980. We were going to war if the soviets won. By the grace of god and the 1980 USA Hockey team we are not a pile of smoldering wasteland. Get serious dude. World was way different.
Raiders patriots snow game you gotta be kidding me no comparison miracle on ice 10 because there was no stars. Those amateurs beat the Russians. You just don’t get it big goofball dumb question.
Stakes easily a 10/10, that was the best of the best the 4 time gold winning reigning champions USSR team vs US college boys. David had a better chance at beating Goliath. Either you beat every odd to win or you're nothing but a grease stain on the zamboni of history. Only way it could've been better would be if Herb Brooks had the fashion sense of Don Cherry.
Jimmy sold this one short. The name was way better that 7. And star power? The russians were the best in the world. Stakes? Huge stakes in sporting terms but then you have to add the Political Stakes and the meaning to the country. 10's across the board!!!!
The name Miracle on Ice is for sure a 10
That's the Perfect 10 Game against which all others should be measured
Not Star power... or Game Play
The game was played like a normal hockey game... and a hockey game is never going to be a 10, it doesn't have the twists, turns, and drama like other sports.
Miracle on ice with Al Michaels absolutely SCREAMING “do you believe in miracles?! YES!!” Makes that name a 10/10
This is hands down the greatest game in sports history IMHO. It was more than a game it was a cultural war that really changed the entire country.
How did it change the country? And do those changes still exist?
@Gregory-sm9pf America was in a malaise. We hardly won any medals compared to USSR and Soviet Block countries. Soviets always bet us in most events at the Olympics. Those changes were good for awhile. We lost our way allowing greed, hubris, and war cloud our sensibilities.
@@davidsessera1337 that's what I was figuring,,, bad corporations and bad politicians created a lot of it
Being incredibly modest with the name. It’s one of best name’s of all time
Stakes was a 10 as it represented more then just hockey. It was a superpower war with out combat
My roommate was the stick boy for the miracle team. He was 15. He has pictures of the players with autographs hanging up. He’s invited to all the anniversary parties and so on. That's wicked awesome!
I still can't believe that ABC chose not to air this live.
They didn't know that the US was gonna win...
From Heaven, Roone's still not pleased...

The name needs to be a 10. The name lets everyone know exactly what you’re talking about no matter if they watch sports or not

Wildly under rated the name!
The Miracle on Ice is the very definition of a 10.
Bunch of no name American players and some really good USSR players I’d put star power around 7
Y’all should have a list that we can see with all the ranks!!
Did they change the rating system or is that all four averaged
They average across 4 people: Jules, Jack, Skyler, & guest.
The name is the only true 10 in the entire list can’t believe he gave it a 7
This should have been rated higher The Miracle On Ice is the greatest game and that’s coming from a Patriots fan who believes we have some games that could definitely be up there. Also Gotta get some more Celtics games up there and Red Sox and Bruins games.

The score is the average of all 3 of them and the guest
Score is averaged out between the 4 people in the room
The name has to be a 10 I’m sorry but no. Way almost everyone has heard of that name at least once.

All 10s
He gave "Miracle on Ice" a 7??!! A 7!!
The name is a 10. Mr. Craig was being too humble. Honestly the stakes are a 10 when you consider the patriotic/geopolitical implications (Cold War). Honestly it’s probably the greatest game with a name in sports history.
Change this to a 10. The only game better in history was the 2022 World Cup final
It's absolutely #1. Honestly 2022 World Cup Final needs some consideration too
That world cup was trash scripted rigged for messi and argentina aka nazi Germany
Stakes was a 10.1
Star Power- Very low, maybe 4
Game Play - No clue honestly
NAME 10.1
Name: 7?
What da??
How tf is miracle on ice name not a 20 out of ,10
Ridiculous score!!! Its easily the best game ever and I am not even American. Ridiculous than any football game would be even close.
The name gets a SEVEN?!? Nononono, it’s at least an 11
Sorry this might actually be the greatest game of all time. This was too low.
No integrity score gate-keeping from Skyler on hockey games. 🤣
I’m a Canadian thinking it was the greatest game ever.
Bunch of kids not even born yet and a goalie that took to many pucks to the brain. We’d all be speaking Russian if we hadn’t won that game. 10/10.
It was a hockey game not a war. Your thinking of Germany and WW2 not some hockey game
@ I was 19 years old in 1980. We were going to war if the soviets won. By the grace of god and the 1980 USA Hockey team we are not a pile of smoldering wasteland. Get serious dude. World was way different.
@@thereissomecoolstuff You are hilarious
@ we are in the same boat today. Biden wants to push the button. We don’t have a Jim Craig to save the world in 2024.
