I have the same unit. I done a short review on it about a yr or so back , have had similar issues with it , just a note the grade 8 washers and double nuts didn’t work on mine , the weight and stress from the high speed and heavy blade actually pulled the washer through the blade hole and off it went , still haven’t found it , I’m looking into bobcat brand replacements. Now , I feel like they will work on this machine but I haven’t put eyeballs on them yet to see if they’re compatible Thanks for the video. I totally agree. Well worth my savings of 10k or more

    I own 1 of these.
Bolts are of a metric grade 5. I changed minevto sae 5/8grade 8 withe a steel lock nut. Jyst got a heavy flat washer to hold the blade on, theres didn't live long. So far the 5/8 are wking better.
I am wking this cutter in brush, the blade holder has all 4 tips bent up slightly, the carrier is too thin, I'm looking into a fux for this and diff or other replacement blades.
The company blades are 180.00 each ,I'm told, ouch.
Lost 1 blade last weekend, due to poor bolts.
If you buy 1 of these, 1st thing after servicing, REPLACE ALL BLADE BOLTS, it will save you much grief.
    Affordable blades
    Better blade bolts ans retainers
    Thicker blade carrier
And this mower would definitely be a beast in the woods, and not running to the shop every so often to make repairs.
All this and mine has 6.5 hrs run time on it.
As I stated, not abusing it but wking it within the specified purpose it was advertised for.

I've been looking at this brush cutter pretty hard lately cheapest one I found was about 3300 before shipping one of the first things I noticed just looking at the limited pictures was the bolts looked inadequate that held the blades on💀 that's some dangerous stuff right there glad nobody got hurt but the coil. I feel for you man I'm an AC guy too😂. I don't know I think I'm going to keep shopping I'm not in a hurry and it'll be interesting to see if you develop any other problems😅

The bolts that hold the blades on are too small. While the blade spins on the center bushing, there would still be some force applied to the head of the bolt. Several manufacturers use a 1-1/8 blade bolt with a 1-3/16 collar the blade can spin on. I might modify my carrier to install the proper bolt. I haven't used my cutter yet, and don't want to after seeing what happened to that A/C condenser. I figure for $100 in bolts, a couple big drill bits to step up to 1-1/8 and a little time, I can fix the cutter to work as well as the one it's made to resemble.
EDIT: After measuring, it looks like the bushing they welded into the blade carrier would be too thin if I had gone with a standard brush cutter blade bolt. I opted to drill the carrier plate out to fit a 7/8" grade 8 bolt. We'll see how that works out.

How did that work for you?

@@DanielJames607 So far so good. I have put about 8 hours on the cutter taking down some smaller trees (nothing larger than an old oil can in diameter) and it has worked well. All blades are still firmly in place!

Do you think you could use the standard Bushhog bolts an nuts on this set up? Might require some larger bolt holes in the blades an carrier as well as an access hole in the deck so you can get to the nuts?

What did you pay? Should prolly change to grade 8 bolts and weld the nuts on to prevent flying blades

Do you know how much grease you used to fill your spindle housing? I have about one tube in and it's coming out the breather. I've read some horror stories on guys greasing, not putting enough in, and torching the spindle bearings.

I used 3/4 of a tube in that. Just pump it in one side until it comes out of the screen on the other side. Run it for a day and top it off periodically. You'll be fine. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks for the reply and the video! BTW, I ended up putting 7/8 grade 8 bolts on the blades. I used a magnetic drill press and things went pretty easily. If I end up snapping one of those my next step is going to 1-1/8 or 1-3/16 bolts that are made for rotary cutters.

Yes they are. Good point. It was a small and cheap one. I bought the 20V Dewalt and am so much happier. Going through a lot of grease with all this new equipment.

I burnt my box up due to no great, but I rebuilt my box for less than $100. Not too difficult. Do not pay them $1K for a new box. Good luck getting parts from them as well or any help for that matter. I videoed my rebuild and link is th-cam.com/video/6KnXHr5D__c/w-d-xo.html.
