Oh no way! How did I not already know your mom was a yarn dyer? How did she get started? How does she get her yarn?
Yes! I agree. When I'm reading a nonfiction book, especially a biography, I want to know about the person the book is about, not the opinion of the author. It's not supposed to be an opinion piece. It's also frustrating if an author keeps referencing another book. For historathon, I think last year, I started to think, well maybe I should read that other book instead of the one in my hands since the author keeps bringing it up.
I do think How to Read a Book should be a slow read. It's disturbing that the average reading level is so low.
You're so right about the cost of handmade items. People have no idea. One co-worker (aeons ago) didn't want to pay my price for something I crocheted. She said her mother said she could get something like that from China. Okay, give me my product back, and go get it from China. She refused. She paid me half. But then another coworker intervened and I got the rest of the money, but I never trusted the other lady. In the long run I guess my threaded crochet was so good it looked machine made?
Thomas Sowell is a great writer. I'd like to read most of his works. I've only read two and have one more.
This was a fun video. 🤗
