It not about the health or balance of the game. It's about the metrics gained from Arena play, and monetizing the most popular color. Green isn't the most popular color on Arena.
Burn together and leyline don't work like you think. You'll copy it, but after the first copy resolves the second will fizzle because the mouse was already sacd to the first
I feel like they’re definitely going to ban something from mono-red. Probably not this, though. My bet is on either Slickshot, Burn Together, or Cacophany Scamp.
honestly, one card banned, isn gonig cut it anymore, this just enables too many ways to kill on turn 2 and 3. before you could just ban the sell sword and call it good enough but now, you dont even need it for t2 kill. its going to have to be sell sword and the leyline at this point, other wise you have to ban all three of the key creatures, heart fire hero the scamp and slickshot
Would be happy if they just ban Monstrous Rage. The traple plus pump is just too much. Yes, There are other ways to t2 win, but the Rage has given red the boost they needed since it was released and has not slowed down since
Leyline of Resonance + Rotpriest + Aspirant's Ascent / Shore Up / Snakeskin Veil / Royal Treatment... I hate playing against toxic decks because if they have a good draw there's no almost no way to beat it. I think the only way to kill it with 2 or less mana is Sheoldred's Edict. There are a few ways for 3 mana, but you may be dead by then.
yea just mulligan a few times and get this out for free... I'm not sure if its within the ruleset to do this, since im a fairly new magic player but this card maybe could've also said something like "If Leyline of Resonance is in your library, you may not mulligan" Kind of a crazy downside but its a powerful card for many decks that can already win T1 or T2 anyways.
I played this card today and I 100% agree this needs to be banned. Here is the deal. You don't put 4 of them in the deck. You put 2-3. Sure, it won't be as consistently in the opening hand, but this really mitigates the main downside of that card - drawing it early. But potential turn 2 kill is not the main reason for the ban. In longer control matchups if (and thats a big if) they are able to stabilize, leyline become the best draw in you deck. So not only this is nuts if it is in you opening hand, it can also serve as a topend for the deck to refuel it after you run out of steam. There is no downside.
There is no way this isnt broken in standard. It makes turn 2 stronger when these decks are going for lethel turn 3 already and honestly they each pretty much add 4 of every pump spell so like 16 monstrous rages in a deck. And for that fact it gives red or radkos more late game plays as they can really just pump slick shots if they happen to miss the turn 2 or 3 kill
At 10 dollars if I knew that wasn't almost instantly getting banned I would be buying them up. You hit the nail on the head of the mana and card advantage this provides. I remember some of the best content creators argue with me when I said slickshot would be the best OTJ card not Jace reawakened and now look what card dominates standard. Anyone who says this leyline won't dominate standard at least needs to check back the first week into Duskmourn
Do you think the downside of losing a card outweighs the benefits? Hear me out. Against most current mono-red aggro decks, having a turn 1 or 2 removal is absolutely essential. Basically if you don't have a way to deal with creatures quickly, you're dead. But generally, if you do, you win easily because the monored player has used up all their resources already. They have no cards in hand. So to ensure you start with the leyline you'll want to mulligan, but lets say you have an absolutely nut draw. Lets say you stack the deck!. Leyline, creaturex2, inside out, monstrous rage, 2 mountains, whatever. If you're opponent has removal, you're even more of a glass cannon than usual. Imagine not having it in your hand and then drawing one? You gonna go to to turn 5 with a deck like this? Imagine drawing two?
Yeah I agree, it does make it more "all in" so to speak in that case. Which makes for high variance of games (win or lose on turn 2-3). However, I also think this card is broken in decks that use it with card draw spells such as boros heroic so it makes up for the card disadvantage.
I already quit playing the game because of current Aggro. I would be intrested why wizzards chose to make the game so fast - is it because younger players dot have the patience anymore or what is it? Whatever, game is done for me (even draft became an absolute aggro shitshow with bloomborrow)
Because yugioh and heartstone both were more popular than them until they saw how popular modern was and modern was fast so why not just make everything fast like yugioh and heartstone.
It's because of the data collected from Arena. From the numbers, it would seem players prefer games that only last a few minutes and prefer playing aggro decks, especially using red. They will milk those players.
@@johanandresacostaortiz444 creature heavy yes, but not super fast unless your hand is really bad. Draft was in the past about many small decisions and having a counter for their few bombs they might have
The fact that mono red gets superb updates every single new set is really sad. Green is literally forgotten

Forgotten? Yeah sure xD Maybe in bloomburrow only.
Tbf, Green had it's run, white got its run, it's back to red.
Red just gets it more because that's it's thing.
Perhaps llanowar elf will make green playable again
You guys forget about 💙
You called it. Grats.
Absolutely, with the current standard aggro meta we don't need that kind of boost.
They can mulligan a couple of times and still win T2
the number is 5 ... they can mull down to 5 and have all cards needed to pull off T2 kill ... and with 2 Leylines in hand its 4 cards ...
Got 50% (5 of 10) second turn kill rate with this deck in historic. 1 minute games; get your weekly wins FAST.

Wow that deck looks broken
You're a scoundrel.

True, burn together does not work with the leyline because it has two targets
I miss the geist-leylines combo.
I feel like they’re definitely going to ban something from mono-red. Probably not this, though. My bet is on either Slickshot, Burn Together, or Cacophany Scamp.
Yeah they usually don't ban the new card unless they have to

Oh man this breaks rotpriest

So it's a high pick-up in draft to get free rares later on :)

Banned in the first week.
Really feel like they should have already banned Monstrous Rage - that card has already been way too strong.
I wouldn't be unhappy if they banned it, heh
Just came here to say
Bro. Playing really isnt fun anymore. This card is so fucking broken..... Playing against it is a nightmare

Limited/Draft has always been a creature heavy/aggro format.

Give it one more year and it will be Just shuffling
