You look at your blank ceiling, daydreaming of the what if’s and the if only’s. Your eyes droop...darker and darker...further and further you get from reality. Before you know it, you’re standing in a large beautiful ballroom with wood floors, tall pillars and warm lit lights. In the center is them. They stand there, smiling and waiting for you. Dressed in something so amazing. A smile comes to your face and you walk up to them. “What are you waiting for?” They ask. You are caught speechless as they hold out their hand. Hesitantly, you hold onto it and you hear the music. It was familiar as if it’s been playing this whole time. You sway and sway endlessly into the night. They lay their head on your shoulder and you closer your eyes. Their humming calms your racing heart. Before you know it, you jolt up and feel the wetness on your cheeks. You sniffle and reach up to wipe them. You feel this sensation in your chest. It’s heavy, cold, and just painful. You old onto your shirt and sigh. You sigh once more. Then you feel it. Rejection. For a few moments, you forget that you were kidnapped. For just a few moments, it feels like it’s just you and the person you love. You laugh together, and talk, and you feel that you are at home for once. But as the music reaches its final stretch, you are no longer wearing fancy clothes, and are no longer standing in the grandiose ballroom. The lyrics made you curious- would they wait for you? Or would they lose faith in your return, and move on to another? The moment is over. Once again, you are in your cell, the music echoing throughout the room.
