So good against all that chaff vampires bring and the annoying sniping on a flying lord/goose. Amazing idea on that build. Imagine if they were ekrund's miners with 3x as many satchels. Again, what a build.
@@missawesome1994 Boxes can be so hard to maintain discipline in. Sometimes you just find yourself overextending. Especially as the dwarves because their little stunty legs can't recover fast enough to restore the box after you get caught.

I feel like units like Wraiths have a fear to them which makes the opponent go out of their way to put them down, which makes them look weak. Also, Wraiths are weak to magic damage and do magic damage, and dwarfs are resistant to magic damage and the dwarf player brought a lot of magic damage, which is uncharacteristic for dwarfs (the whole reason people bring Wraiths vs Dwarfs is because Dwarfs have very little magic damage)
Before those engineers came in. Wraiths were actually a pretty solid counter to dwarfs. Dwarfs are resistant to magic damage but don't do any either (usually). This allowed wraiths to just slowly eat away at dwarf warriors slayers and long beards and they typically won those one v ones. This allowed your monsters to kind of run around. I wish Hex Wraiths were more competitive though. such a cool unit
This is a good example of why I hate cycle charging in a multiplayer-setting. It is cheesy, because one can't really do anything about it, apart from slowing or netting. But especially in the latest late game where one essentially has already won, it is frustrating to see your well coordinated remnants shatter, because some dude on a chariot feels like mowing over pedestrians.

They went as elite as possible with two engineers zoning out the lord. The counter tech with the rings of thori won the game. If Turin went Vlad with heavy infantry/calvary he would have slaughtered the dwarves.
Turin.... I'm a huge fan and I usually root for you.... But, I feel confident in saying that a majority of your fanbase were rooting for the Dawi to beat you in this match.... Including me! Screw the undead!
I've done more Dwarf campaigns than all other factions put together. And only now, after 1,500+ hours or so of game 2 and 700 or so hours of game 1, did I realize the Peak Gate Guard have magic damage.

This makes me wonder why engineers aren't a meta pick vs VC. They're solid ranged damage that can't be easily shut down, and those rings should pretty much always have some good targets.
@ Turin. Great to see Engineers being used more. Never see anyone use the Entrenchment ability on them? 20% damage resist is good but the 40% AP missile damage sounds crazy on some Thunderers or on some Artillery!
I just took a look. It sounds great until you see it costs 150g. Just not worth it for the added damage, especially considering it prevents the unit from moving.
@@MarcoTheGreat2008 Mark the not being able to move is a major drawback for sure. However I was wondering if there is a silver lining? Like if you cast it on Trollhammer Torpedoes? Could the no moving prevent some charge damage? Or allow the attacked units to counter faster since they wont get thrown out of formation? Could you trap up charging units? allowing other units to hit the chargers from behind? Just some mad thoughts I had? And yes, didn't realize how pricy it was. Might still be worth it to blast some elvish bolt throwers trying to snipe your artillery?
@@anttmann6123 It's pretty much a net you apply on your own units. Their physics aren't disabled, so they can still be bowled over or throw around, they just can't move by themselves.
The Dwarf engineer's clothing clips through the hammer on his back when he moves. It seems like every second Dwarf has something that clips, no other faction has it this bad with clipping.
I'll be honest -- while I normally root for you, I really didn't want you winning on the zombie summon - cycle charge combo at the end there after such good Dawi play!
I feel like you could have done more work with the dragon midish game. Charge the edge of formations so after its animation it sorta lands outside the bad zone. He'll always try to catch you and them dwarfs is slow. While you're pulling back up focus on where he's opened himself with your other shit.

I know you don't typically touch mods, but you should take a look at the high elves reborn mod. I believe it was created by Rider of Rohan, with input from other top players. It tries to rebalance High Elves so that they're less reliant on a couple really strong units and more flexible, such as by making their elite infantry usable, mildly nerfing archers, giving the frostheart phoenix a niche while making the Arcane Phoenix a little less resilient, etc. It's specifically balanced for multiplayer, so it's not like SFO or something. People were saying on the XMT discord that they were hoping it might catch the attention of CA and maybe influence future balancing.

Ow how i hate this matchup. VC play MOBA with breath attacks and pendulum, dawi play box. And its not like there are options, best unit VC can deploy here is GG GW. In this match, without any artillery or missiles, 1 out of 4 even managed to pay for itself. Dawi can play differently, but why bother if box works?

It’s more about good value and the overall stickiness of the unit, they aren’t supposed to beat it

Pre-game picks are a natural part of the strategy and fun of the game though. Without the engineers the dwarfs would have been stuffed.

I think its the wraiths that cost you here T, get rid of one unit and get more chaff- 2x skele warriors would help give you more buffering
