Day to day job is the same as for the non-technical specialist, mostly sourcing, scheduling, screening, etc. The only difference is that you need to know the technical side job, to understand the basics of each tech stack. Salary I can't really say any numbers since it's very different from country to country and company to company. Probably the best source would be Glassdoor based on the location and the industry that you want to go into.
