You are spot on with this comparison Matthias. E-mobility has a hard time getting accepted because of way too high kWh tariffs at public chargers and the chaos that charging providers cause with all kinds of discount cards. It’s a jungle. Investments, ok. But without a subscription (which limits charging locations) driving an EV is more expensive than a diesel car.

Good comparison and intresting data. I have not yet calculated exactly my 3100km trip to Lappland and back but charge costs were roughly 190€. Mostly on three different charge providers (Ionity, Neste and Recharge). More than happy with the consumption of 85x 👍🏼

Great comparison. I was always curious about Ionity vs. Powerpass. For me the subscription is 12€ vs 15€, therefore I prefer Powerpass due to lower prices on AC or Dc in location + Aral and BP charger for UFC. Much more opportunities for just 3€ more per month.

IONITY works well on the long distance if you drive through different countries and that's why I did this comparison regarding the roadtrip. If you have a different charging routine or needs IONITY falls behind and you're better off with other Subscriptions like powerpass

    Great analysis.
We could have had better electricity prices in the region if one country had not decided to shut down its nuclear power plants before the end of their technological life, thus increasing the dependence of electricity prices on natural gas imports. The billions that have since been wasted on gas could have been spent on solar and wind sources and batteries and pumped hydro for grid balancing.

Diesel is quite expensive; for example, in Croatia, a liter of Eurodiesel costs €1.45, while the prices at Ionity are higher than in the EU. Also for the next trip you will pay 12 eur for ionity passport or 140eur yearly.

I took the prices in Germany at the time of the travel. It is even more expensive in switzerland and Denmark at that time. It's hard to make valid comparisons for every country so I to the median of the countries I traveled on my roadtrip :)

    You're forgetting something.
These public rapid chargers are businesses, with shareholders. They demand profit. In the UK the cost of installing and maintaining charging facilities are huge, you're not just paying for the electricity, you're paying for the whole service. Until those costs reduce, charging prices will also not reflect the actual costs of energy.

And in the UK so far they're not making any profit they're still loss making as they roll out the networks

@@enyaq_gorm It's hard to compete with a service that has been rolled out over almost 100 years period and has prime realestate in a lot of places. Which has also been subsidized for decades and decades in a lot of countries. Also in a lot of countries the tax on electricity is higher than the tax on gasoline (percentage wise).

I’m thinking of getting a Enyaq RS, or a electric car in general… but my question, is driving cheaper with combustion or electric, and if combustion is cheaper, why getting an electric car at all…?

    • @electrifiedspeicher

In most cases driving electric is cheaper at a certain point of mileage due to lower consumption, lower maintenance costs and cheap energy. But the last point is not guaranteed. So if you are able to charge from your own photovoltaic it gets really cheap. If you are living in country where charging is cheap it is also great. But if not than it might be tricky.

@@electrifiedspeicher I would have to commute twice a week 210km in one direction, we do have a few IONITY but I don’t get it, how to choose a good power provider so I can cover Europe with one contract instead of getting two or more provider contracts…
