It wasn’t until 2001 with the release of Fellowship of the Ring that I ever seen or heard of anything relating to Tolkien and Middle Earth. So I was naturally surprised when the movie had a place called Moria, and my stupid teenage self thought they ripped that name off from StarCraft.
Fenix: "I'll never underestimate the motivational effects of Terran greed again!" Raynor: "You sound like a poor old man, Fenix." Fenix: "Don't let the fact that I only cost 300 minerals and 100 gas in the campaign editor dull your impression of me, wealthy Ranyor. I can still... how do you Terrans say it... sell out with the best of them."
If a regular Starcraft player plays the games in order, assuming they haven't read the SC1 manual yet, this mission would be the only time they hear the Kel-Morian Combine and their planet once, as they never get any love in SC2, except in few bits of fluff in units and dialogue, especially Swann. Also, that line "They're siding with the evil they know over the evil they don't" hits hard once you learn about Amon's influence over Kerrigan lol. Love the tiny details of "wait, what?" once you play the games in order and pay attention.
The "Evil they know" part makes perfect sense in context of just Starcraft 1 and Brood War. Kerrigan had plans to backstab everyone from the beginning, she was 100% counting on the UED's massive power grab and tighter grip than even the Confederacy or Dominion had as a motivating factor to work with her. Surprise surprise, it was a bad idea to trust Kerrigan. SC2's writing just made things worse because of how bad it was.
@@matthewgagnon9426 yes it was bad to trust her in the first place because everyone gangs up on the greater threat that is the UED, and Kerri backstabing Duke and Fenix after the terrans and protoss have no use to her anymore, but this begs the question: what if Kerrigan were to be killed by the combined Dominion-UED-Protoss force during the mission Omega? Remember that Duran sided with Kerrigan for reasons we really don't know after UED submitted the Overmind to their control, and if you included the secret mission here, this could mean two things: 1) either Duran knew that some unseen hand controls Kerrigan after the death of the original Overmind thus the probable main reason why he sided with her; and 2) After backstabbing enough characters, Amon was _expecting_ the rest of the cast to kill Kerrigan for her evil nature, with the deaths of Duke, Stukov, Fenix, Aldaris, and Raszagal the catalyst of the Dominion, the UED, and the Protoss to say "bro, our common enemy's over there" and turn their heads towards Kerrigan, thus coinciding what would have been An Utter Darkness. Because Duran was readying the Hybrid that time, they were waiting for Kerrigan's death to spring the final trap towards everyone. As for Raynor... yeah, he disappeared after Fenix's death and never appeared on the final mission.
KMC Commander: Zerg? Protoss? Here? Mining my precious minerals? First response squad, move out! I don't want a single crystal stolen by an unholy alliance of creatures.
Meanwhile, on StarCraft Alternate… In the aftermath of the Psi Disruptor mission, the Executors listen in on Draliska, Raynor, and Kerrigan expressing their opinions on their cooperation with Duran. After he then tells them they're taking a detour to Moria to steal resources from the Feral Guard, he sends Raszagal (and one of the Executors) for this incursion. He's also thankful that the UED from Braxis has been kept out of the loop for now. As per usual, Raynor's division and the Dragon Brood will be participating in this raid as well, and Hives are seized to make Stasis Cells for the next mission. During this, the two bros reminisce on their time in Moria, and Raynor comments on their lack of involvement against the CZP. Before long, they finish their mineral heist and Stasis Cell manufacture and take off for Tarkossia.
Simply looking at this abomination makes me want to tear out my hair. Even though the mission technically requires to collect 10k minerals, there is a trigger to give them to the player once all enemies are defeated were it not for that fact, I could easily skip this mission. But as it stands, I'm stuck in purgatory of trying to complete this mission with just the starting forces... Fenix being the only saving grace.
Pretty sure they don't have time and the reason to render Moria during development since all they have to do there was loot some minerals and that's it.
It's so refreshing to see you boys working so well together by using different races Executor If only this kind of momentum can remain... (with different races)
In an alterantive version of broodwar where kerrigan isnt scum we could have had the 3 race campaign where you pick which race to play on each mission.
you know, i kinda wanna see a 3 player map for the reversed version of the final mission. UED, dominion, and daelaam all working together to kill kerrigan, with it devolving into a free for all bloodbath once she's dead.
I would've expected the mineral requirement to be raised from 10k to 30k, a bit like what happened to the marine count in 1-1 ... or does stealing the cache give _everyone_ their share of the quota?
1.This is what i really wanted to have at vanilla, terran zerg and protoss working together 2. Are you going to split the money evenly or all goes to the zerg?
@@ExecutorNral I mean, you _can_ infest Allied Command Centers, and as far as I know, the triggers only check how many Command Centers you've infested when checking which version of the next map to send you to... because yes, no bank data in the original Brood War, it straight up has six different versions of the "Liberation of Korhal" map. I see the AI also building more Command Centers, which means they're not just instantly and permanently crippled if you infest theirs, because it might not be their only one. So I don't see why it wouldn't work. Small note, UEDAIP has a fun opportunity early in Episode 4. If you came away from Episode 2 with a Kerrigan packing Mind Control (one of three possibilities), you can Mind Control an SCV in mission 4, build a Command Center, and damage it until your Zerg ally in the mission comes to Infest it, because they ain't picky :P
@@Blazieth You can infest allied command centers but they wont be there in the next mission thats what I meant. The map doesnt auto load the next mission and there is only one version of the map where it has 2 infested command centers. You just go to the editor and edit the map and add the same amount of enemy cc you infested in Moria. If we are to fix the triggers there, we should add a condition which states the amount of command centers the enemy has left. We also need to create 5 versions of the map like in the original since this coop doesnt have that.
@@ExecutorNral Yeah, so what I mean, is that the triggers that tell you which version of the next map to go to probably aren't looking for specifically _enemy_ command centers that you've infested. It just checks how many you infested. You could infest five of Raynor's Command Centers and none of Kel-Moria's, and it would probably tell you to go to the version of the next map with 5 ICCs.
@Blazieth I just check the the original campaign map triggers and yes, it only counts infested command centers. But in co-op, the map author was smart enough to count the remaining number of enemy command centers to prevent the Raynor cc cheese so the trick wont work in co-op. There is a problem though, he spent so much time with making 21 different cases but didn't put the variations of Liberation of Korhal map to the campaign folder. Like why...
"So there you are, playing your favorite Starcraft Zerg campaign, when all of a sudden, you're a Protoss! You didn't ask for this, you didn't choose this, and yet it is treated no differently as the other two races"- A terrible take by a once good channel, probably.
Well, I wanted to record the whole story in coop because my previous clips were dispersed. Also I am currently busy with some other work so I am unable to work with AI voices to create alternative scenarios or memes so I decided to run these while I am getting my job done. Feel free to tag along.
@@ExecutorNral enjoying the ride so far, just thought it was a funny observation. Also, the “once good channel” I’m referencing is Extra Credits, and their awful “Stop Normalizing Nazis” video. Sooo, they went to Moria, a place infested with Orcs to mine for resources. Aha. Tell me again, Artanis, how StarCraft is not WarCraft in space. 😛
The Kel-Morian Combine meets the Raynor-Fenix-Kerrigan Combine.
Headcanon that this is how Raynor first met Swann.

So Kerrigan’s treacherous nature was more human than expected. Come then my warriors this battle is not over!
Protoss player: cool, I get Fenix for a hero unit!
Terran player: cool, I get battlecruiser Raynor for a hero unit!
Zerg player: :(
sigh
Glad to hear the Protoss music one last time.

Getting jiggy with it!
So that's how briefings work as the other factions...
I've been wondering, if Cerebrate had heard the trio's conversation before Kerrigan showed up?
Headquarters, we are under heavy attack by an alliance of alien creatures! What do you mean, "for the overmind"?
I wait the last mission of this campaign...
It's will be a FFA match?
Remember, Fenix isn't 368. He's 368 PLUS however old Raynor is at this point in time.
398. Fenix is 398 years old while Raynor is 30 here
I wonder how the CMC armor version of Kel Morian look like. They seem to be the weakest faction in SC but weird that they still survive.
