I’m pretty sure every player of the game has, at some point or another, used the cheapo but efficient method of Scourges and Spawn Broodling to kill Duke & Fenix respectively.
The Scourges is rather approriate considering that Gen. Duke's Original ship Norad II was heavily crippled by Scourges in the opening Mission of "Norad II". The spawn broodling on Fenix on the otherhand is indeed a cheapshot and a trollish dickmove.
@@RammmFan New Gettysburg is more of a tragedy than sad and lol, it's definitely sad that our cerebrate character dies in Omega, but it's still a cerebrate and they can't be left alive. Meanwhile here, you are forced to kill 2 very well-estabilished characters with your own hands whose progresses you oversaw. Only thing that is equally as sad is Stukov's death.
I remember when I first saw the mission objectives as a kid (specifically "Kill Fenix"), I was nervous and shocked. Fenix's death had me crying my heart out when I was very young. However, General Duke deserved it since I hated him.
Meanwhile, on StarCraft Alternate… The time of betrayal has come, and all three Executors are now allowed to take command of one Tribe each in order to catch the Infinity Swarm, Dragon Brood, and Raynor's division by surprise within 6 ticks. While wiping out their defenses within that time is not possible, it's all they have, and thus is where the Daelaam Alliance truly rises. Zasz's and Raynor's vessels are exterminated along with their armies, Kerrigan is left with little of her Brood standing and with the knowledge that all this is entirely her fault, and Draliska swears to hunt Duran down to the ends of the galaxy. But not today.
One can argue it's because back then there's no way to deinfest someone, and Raynor probably is unaware about the Xel'naga, nor having Zeratul convince him to save her instead. Kerrigan is right though, Raynor doesn't have it in him
This isn't a retcon. It's the words of a bitter man who lost his best friend in a sector full of traitors. He didn't follow through with it because he got depressed which is honestly good writing. Leave the vengeance schtick to demon hunters in WoW.
If this ever gets a show, Fenix's death would play out pretty much as it does here, but as his shell is broken and his crippled body is exposed to the outside, Kerrigan herself strides up to him and says, "Any last words, Praetor?" to which he answers, "Yes: Rot in Hell, you bi-" before she stabs him with her back spines. One last act of defiance and sign of how much Terrans have rubbed off on him.
Fun fact: This map actually has nine unused voice-clips for Duran from the Briefing. He has voiced dialogue for his time estimation for anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes. Which means if someone wants to give more or less time for the Sneak Attack, they can swap those out in the Briefing, and allow Duran's estimate to remain accurate.
@@ExecutorNral Ah, yeah, you're right. Once again though, this is a thing I know because of UEDAIP. They give you three minutes there, but N remembered to change the briefing to reflect it. He also split the enemy from 2 enemies with multiple bases into five different enemies; which means if you plan right and are quick with your micro, you can cripple and effectively eliminate three of those enemies right away, leaving you with just the two main bases to worry about after some brief cleanup.
Damn, Fenix having more the health and shields of a Tal'darim mothership is straight broken lol, but yeah it's likely to compensate for the 3 players ganging up against a monster of a dragoon.
Ouros is the biggest coward in the Koprulu Sector for _forcing_ everyone to forgive Kerrigan for this. "Bonus" points for disguising himself as Tassadar in the process. Tass had to have been rolling in the void after that stunt.
One can joke can that if it weren't for Raynor and Kerrigan's romance, that would cut total loss of life by 50%. Raynor chases Kerrigan into Char twice with heavy losses. Kerrigan obliterates Dominion forces and lost much of her broods to spring Raynor out of prison. They say they hate each other, but never go for the kill!!
In original mission, 12 (or less) scourges was enough for poor old Dukey. And 100 or so seconds to wait while zerg queen accumulates enough energy for Fenix
It would require a lot of map editing, but since the briefing mentions killing Fenix AND Raynor, it would be interesting if the 3 player coop of this had another Terran (raynor, blue) base on the right side, extending the map a few dozen tiles horizontally. That way each player can focus on one enemy base can try to race to kill the hero, and just more chaos with the wired SC1 ai attack waves and defences
Well, you can clearly see from the mission briefing that Kerrigan didn't fancy the idea of killing Raynor, that's why she switched targets to Duke and Fenix
You'd also have to rewrite a bit of story. Would be interesting to see how Jimmy would act if he was a True Colors target... Also I wonder how different Fenix's lines would be from Draliska's for if he outlives James.
I feel they did Duke and Fenix justice here by making them a lot stronger. Also I am glad you didn't just kill Fenix with a queen that's not what I call a "Noble death". On a side note this mission kinda sets a disappointing future setup for SC2. Raynor pouring his heart out about the death of Fenix and so many others to state he's "the man who is going to kill" Kerrigan. Only to have him go all mushy in SC2 Wings of Liberty and have her saved. Did all his drinking give him anisha? I feel like they should have killed Kerrigan off and than continue with the regular story replacing Xelnaga Kerrigan with the reappearance of Tassadar in the void who continues on to kill Amon. This would have also lead to a bonus of Raynor's good buddy Tychus still staying alive. They had a good back story and the writers of Wings of Liberty done them dirty by having Jimmy kill O'll Tychus for that "Murderous Bitch" as Minsk puts it.
I always see it as his way to honor Zeratul, because he's the one that convinced Raynor not to kill Kerrigan. It does feel he went kinda mushy, and I wish he's more concerned on keeping her alive because he wants to listen to Zeratul instead of their old romance, but at least there's a reason for it.
Raynor went full depresso in SC2. By that time he probably realized his words were hollow, kind of like what you say to someone who really hurt you but you know you aren't the kind of person to really go through with it.
Ironic, really; Duke joined the Dominion because Mengsk rescued him the first Norad's crash from the Zerg, and Fenix was in a Dragoon shell because of fending off the Zerg. Also, wondered if Raynor's promise had some meta-effect in ensuring that Kerrigan would not ever die to anyone but him?

My predictions: * Fury of the Swarm becomes a joke * Kerrigan probably doesn't even need to abduct Raszagal to get to Zeratul; potential 6-7 skip right there * To Slay the Beast becomes a joke * If 6-7 is skipped, 6-9 likely gets skipped too * Dark Origin probably happens anyway * Omega becomes a joke
Kerrigan is purple I think since she was raised by the Jormungand (purple) brood and later assimilated it into her swarm along with Leviathan (yellow). Duran might be represented by the green zerg (brown on non-desert maps) as the remnants of the Grendel brood that is eventually wiped out.
I was hoping for Fenix dialogue, a queen launches Broodling to him because the game still going despite he's still trying to finish his script. Meanwhile he's dead, the dialogue still going until the end of dialogue script, which I find quite hilarious OR The dialogue are mixed in both Fenix encounter with the Queen of Blades and Raynor's vow to kill the Queen of Blades someday. True Colors, the mission where Kerrigan does what everyone was expecting her to do from the start of Brood War.
3200 HP on Fenix, goodness. He really could throw down with the best of them

It’s suck that Fenix died.
