Love the new series! For all new players I want to note one thing Aiden forgot to go over. When you are making “new” poxwalkers you can never have more than you originally started with
I´ll never own a single 40K mini, yet i love these breakdowns and "POV" from a master of my beloved Death Guard. Just remember folks, Morty still has a GK GrandMaster´s name carved into his heart by my boy KD. 😅 No wonder i love both Grey Knights and Death Guard so much.
Just started my Warhammer journey and picked Death Guard for my first army, so I can't tell you how grateful I am to have up to date and really clear advice like this. My FLGS is hosting an escalation league that starts on Saturday and I spent almost seven hours today assembling the combat patrol box ^^; Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Remember for thr combat patrol, there is an enhancement called miasmic arrival that lets Typhus deep strike with pox walkers. Additionally his combat patrol rules do not include his psychic attack
Very true - im not touching on the game mode of combat patrol too much and focusing more on bringing combat patrol box contents to full 40k but if you are playing combat patrol then deep striking poxwalkers is very useful
And the best thing about rhinos... You can tank shot with them! I took off the last few wounds of some war dogs the last doubles tournament I went to. Thinking of adding a tally to the paint job for every knight/vehicle it kills while ramming
Someone once told me that if you buy chosen of Mortarion box, you have the necessary compatible parts to build the last 3 Plague Marine parts stuck to the poxwalker sprues.
As someone coming back to 40K after a bit of a break, and a huge Death Guard fan, this was just brilliant, super helpful and some amazing little insights. I'd never thought the Putrifier's Assault weapon meant his Marine bodyguard could investigate sights even after advancing, or that bringing back Poxwalkers can be strategically used to reduce charges. Thanks very much for this, can't wait for the next video!
I bought the combat patrol recently and sadly 1 of the heavy plague weapons is on the same guy as the spewer, so normally you can't have both the spewer and 2 heavy plague weapons in the 7 man squad. HOWEVER - there is 1 thing with the box - the poxwalkers come on 3 sprews, and each one of them has parts of a plague marine (yes yes, i know what it is ;p). I did try to use those parts with the parts from the proper plague marines and kitbash the heavy plague weapon...and it worked XD
Also if you file down or cut the torso connections flat and do the same for the arms it's very easy to kitbash the unit and put any arms on any torso :)
I have to check this out, thx :) i was also seriously thinking about buying a 2nd combat patrol box - poxwalkers could become better with a dedicated detachement once the new codex releases, biologus is an auto include, and i can sell the 2nd Typhus or kitbash it into a chaos sorcerer.
Mate, thank you so much for this series and the fundamentals one. I came back to 40k after playing CSM in the 5th edition and I always loved the plague marines, so DG was an easy choice. How lucky that there is a top DG player putting out such high quality in-depth content for free!! Playing mostly combat patrol now, deep striking Typhus with 20 poxwalkers is funny and I haven’t lost to another box yet, also thanks to all your tips :D Imagine grenade was in combat patrol. But fuck are they hard to paint well!
Aiden, thank you for the detailed you provide. I am a new player of 40k let alone DG, you were the first TH-camr I stumbled across and have been a huge help. Please keep up the great work!
Just come home from King in the North and decided to start out a death guard army. Got some great DG bargains at the boot sale. Your videos are literally the perfect resource for me starting out with them mate so thank you!
the plague bolter has 2 attacks now and lost the rapid fire rule, altho i cant imagine this would change the weapons you would pick for your plaguemarines.
I just started my journey as a Death Guard player and I love your videos so much. I'm not fluent in English so your cadence of speech is perfect. It's really random but I think it could be great for you to have a affiliate link for the figurines.
Finally getting assembling to my plague marines (I did all my poxwalkers first for practice) and revisiting this guiding light of a video! Perfect detail and advice. Couldn’t be more excited to add to Nurgle’s family.
Just started 40k and DG are my pick. I want to thank you for taking the time to make a beginners guide. This is a such a huge help to those or is that are somewhat overwhelmed. Thanks again my brother!!
I just won a bid on ebay for a 2,500 point Death guard army and will definitely use this series to help build the rest of my boxed plague marines and outfit them with the recommended loadouts you suggested. I've already begun painting them too. Also picked up a Mortarion from Front Line Gaming. :) In case anyone's curious what I picked up, HQ Chaos Lord in Terminator armor Daemon Prince (Slaves to Darkness model) Lord of Contagion Malignant Plaguecaster TROOPS 20 Poxwalkers 35 Plague Marines (21 assembled, 14 new in box) ELITES Foul Blightspawn Noxious Blightbringer 5 Blightlord Terminators FAST ATTACK 2 Foetid Bloat-drone 3 Myphitic Blight-haulers HEAVY SUPPORT 2 Plagueburst Crawlers DEDICATED TRANSPORT Chaos Rhino From Front Line Gaming Mortarion
Love the guide! Just got into 40k recently, and this would've been exactly what I needed to help make the jump from combat patrol to full size games. Btw do Plague Bolters have Rapid Fire 1? I couldn't find it on the datasheet. :O
I only just fell across your content and am really enjoying all of it. However, one thing that I am struggling with is Psychic attacks. I’m aware that the game moves on and these comments, taken in isolation, may not be relevant but nowhere in the rules can I find that shooting attacks are different from psychic attacks and are treated differently i.e. are allowed after advancing, falling back, in melee etc. Could you please point me to the point in the rules where it explains this. As I mentioned earlier I am really enjoying your channel and have started collecting Death Guard because of it.
A "shooting" attack uses a weapon profile and a statline provided following the sequence of making an attack. Typhus for example his eater plague is an ability on his datasheet and not a weapon with a statline ergo unless specified is not held to the same limitations of firing a weapon
Ah, my mistake, I’m getting the Psychic attacks listed as a ranged attack mixed up with their abilities, and its those which follow the same rules as shooting attacks. Thanks for taking the time to put me straight.
This video was excellent. Really appreciated the weapon overview for Plague marines. When I go from a 7 man to 10 man squad of plague marines, battle scribe insists I need to bring bolters, and errors on 100% of other loadout options But you said there is no reason to ever use them. But any combination of other weapons seems to be not work so since in the real world people do 10 man squads - do I just need to expect 3 bolters?
Hey, no you shouldn't have to take any bolters sometimes battlescribe can be a bit buggy but for example I run in a 10 man Plasma, heavy wep Sgt 2 Plasma gun 1 Blight launcher 2 Bubotic weapons 4 Heavy plague weapons And that's a legal loadout
QUESTION!!! Since the plague spitter/spewers are auto-hit, if they had the lethal hits from say... The Biologist Putrifier... Would they auto-wound as well?
I may of worded Poorly. The entire attacking unit has to fully see your model for it to not gain cover. So if you can retain your models to have even slight blocked visibility from a single model in the attacking unit then you will have cover from all of the models firing in the attacking unit.
I don't think the additional Contagions of Nurgle rules work in the Combat Patrol game mode; the rules for DG's Combat Patrol only include Nurgle's Gift (-1T). Really wish GW didn't name a game mode the same thing as a model box... makes it quite confusing to play the former.
The new plague options came out later in the edition after the index was released. Can anyone confirm one way or another if the Combat Patrol version benefits from this Update?
Aiden, you do a perfect work with this kind of videos. For me one of the best 40K content creators.
Thank you for the kind words appreciate it!
Love the new series! For all new players I want to note one thing Aiden forgot to go over. When you are making “new” poxwalkers you can never have more than you originally started with
Can confirm!
Came to the contents literally to ask this. Thank you!!

Haha thank you but dont remind me of that lore! Although i am team typhus over team morty anyway :P

Can confirm there are plague marine components on the chosen of mortarion sprue to make more PMs

This new series is a real winner. Top tier content Aiden.
Definitely is!
Thank you! Lots of new people to the hobby who are potential plague marines for us to recruit!

Very welcome, glad your enjoying it!
AWSOME for beginners like myself! Great series brother!!
As a complete noob who was gifted the DG combat patrol, this content is amazing

I hope you enjoy it!

It would seem they are simply 2 shots all the time. My bad. Can tell how little I think about bolters haha
@@deathguarddisgustinglyresilien Haha just goes to show how useless they are!

Typhus does not get Eater plague in combat patrol, that’s a 40K only ability.
